I reached a high enough skill level to hate having an isolated pawn. I didn't get to a high enough skill level to not fear them by the time I quit competitive chess.
analyse your games using your brain not just the engine play 10 minute+ so you can think about why you are doing the moves and why they are playing what they play play lots of games play different openings the opening isnt important the general strategic ideas are important dont memorise play moves for a reason dont worry about the puzzle rating thats not real its just for fun your rating will go up if you do this
what helped me immensely is discovered/sneak attacks and severe use of pins on the most important pieces the downside is, i now play twice as slow as before. so it might get you into time trouble a lot. also, don't blunder...ever. your moves might not be the best that you could've played, but you're not making a mistake per se - so you win :)
Play some bullet and learn to play quickly. At that level as long as you don’t blunder you can force your opponents to blunder by putting them under time pressure. Also if you get outplayed the technique is not there at that level so they have a high chance of getting flagged even in winning positions against you.
So about the Alejandro Ramirez comment, Ben are you still friends with Ramirez after all that awfulness came out? Do you think he's innocent or his actions were misunderstood? Do you think his sexual assaults are just not your business. My opinion is that I believe Shahade and I think Ramirez ought to be shunned by the chess community. I have a lot of respect for you Ben. I enjoy your videos. This isn't fingerpointing. I don't want a witch hunt. I just honestly want to know how you think the chess community should treat Ramirez going forward.
Can I come to your class? I could sit between Rufus and Doofus
Love that kid that says "I get it" as soon as he believes Finegold made a joke xD
The “I get it” kid is freaking adorable
That kid really is Ben’s joke sidekick.
Cursed mention of GM Alejandro Ramirez at 20:40. Fitting it's for an isolated position, something he's very familiar with
I get all of Ben's jokes
ich don't think so

31:28 foreshadowing Everything Everywhere All At Once, go Ben

When you were at Red Lobster, don't you mean you were in an isolated *prawn* position?

MR GRANDMASTER FINEGOLD SIR! NEVER PLAY F3!
Hey man I am stuck in 1200 😢 I practice daily but stuck in same rating how to improve but my puzzle rating is 2200+
Im no gm, but have you taken the time to deliberately analyze your games and see what your weaknesses are?

Legit the only thing you need is to not blunder. Just see if you're blundering before every move, and you'll climb rating instantly.
i get it
