The Conti's became a little noisy (if that is a word) though. I just replaced my rear brakes and when I took of the rear tires, I realized how worn (evenly worn) they were. So maybe I drive for fun, lol. In any case. I am replacing those 2 with the PS4's and ill update at a later time. I almost bought these instead of the conti's last year, but went the other route.
But how is the dry traction and straight line grip of the continental tires for heavy acceleration? Do this tires hook on your xdrive car is what I’m asking?
@@videogazer801 The dry and wet traction was excellent on the continentals until they wore out prematurely. My BMW wasn't super powerful but handled quit nice. The continentals had slightly better grip in the wet, but the PS4's were better in the dry and snow under any acceleration and driving. I just expected a longer life out of the continentals. Since then, I now have a challenger (BMW gone) and I have Michelin PS4's all the way around. These are the summer tire and are super nice. When they are gone I am thinking of replacing them with the PS4 all season as its my only ride. Overall I like the Michelin's better, a much better ride quality over the DWS's to be honest.
I chose these tires in 205 55 16 for my 08 NA impreza. replaced a 7 year 45k miles set of hankook ventus 2 v2 concept 2 (ifykyk) that had long LONG overstated their welcome. I do door dash in a small series of towns in California with bad to good road quality. these tires grip fantasticly well and have superb steering response and ride quality and road noise is fairly contained. You can really notice the low rolling resistance in these tires. from stops letting the car creep feels like you're under a magic carpet about to be wisked away, your transition into easing on the accelerator is a defined experience. You can absolutely see gas mileage gains with these tires, I am pretty detailed on my mileage per driving sessions to calculate my gas cost for trips and these are actually saving me money on top of all their other benefits.
I know I'm late to the review but I wanted to point out that these tires look very similar to the Premier that were offered 5 years ago. The best tires I ever had and lasted 130,000km to wear bars. Maybe the rubber is softer on these Pilot sport for better traction
You'd be surprised how many great things are made in mexico, the stereotypes of Mexico not making quality stuff is overrated. Just have to educate yourself and find out, don't be ignorant. I've had these pilot sports for about 3 months and they're great, quiet and very responsive. I drive a tesla model y with 255 40 r20's.
These tires do surprisingly well on my Forester in the ice and snow. So far they are on par with the all weather tires I have on my truck. I haven't taken them out in a snow storm yet though.
Just picked mines up but the decorative side is on the outside. Stamped on decorative side it says outside none decorative side says inside. Guess there installed correctly. Mines also say made in USA
I have used these last 3 tire changes on my 335 drove and have to say in NEPA they were fine in winter snow but they wear out so fast and when they do they are scary in the rain- I was looking tomatoes handling for something that last longer maybe
How do you think these tires compare vs Michelin Defender 2 or Perelli Scorpion AS3? I want them on my 22 CX-5. I just put Defender 2 tires on it and honestly I prefer how the OEM Toyo A36 tires felt better. The Defender 2s just feel too mushy and I lost 3mpg. I live in FL so no need for snow grip, but do want a firm, grippy tire that gets good mileage and will last me 50k miles.
Great reviews! I didn't realize the tech details and you described it perfectly. I had these on my Infinity FX-50 and just ordered a set for my 2005 Lexus SC-430. I'm excited to ride them on a lighter car.
Just had these installed two weeks ago and after two weeks of spirited driving; I find that they do grip well but find the sidewalls to feel somewhat soft and have a bit of a flex & unpredictable feel once you push them at higher speeds. The Eagle Sports that came with the vehicle were definitely more predictable and sturdier from what I can gather in these last two weeks of driving with the AS4..
Installing these tires on my Audi S5 and I can’t wait. There’s no point in getting winter tires when it snows twice a year, and I may not even need to drive through the snow since I have a hybrid wfh schedule. But summer tires are dangerous in freezing rain conditions. These will also last longer than summer tires.
May I know why you recommend Continental Extremecontact DWS 06 Plus over Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 to drivers in NYC, Chicago, and other snowy winter cities?
Did we ever get an answer here lol? The AS4 beat the DWS 06 in many tests. Like actual braking and handling in the snow. Would love to hear why he favors the Contis soooo much?
@@patrickanthony3632 Hi Anthony. I mounted them in November and they did well with snow on my 21 inch tires. The warmer weather is just hitting NY now and they have great grip. Everything I’ve read says they behave like 95% of summer tires. Excellent tire all around.
Love your videos. I cant seem to decide between these and the DWS 06+ for my GTI. Live in NJ so definitely deal with some snow and plenty of rain during the year. Any thoughts?
Most nj/nyc drivers pick the dws over the psas4, I personally have the psas4 on my gli but it depends. The dws has better light snow traction and maybe slightly better wet traction (based on reviews but this really depends on vehicle and conditions) psas4 better in the dry. Some reviews say the continental's are better some say the michelins are better. All I can say is either works fine. If you wanna save a few bucks get the contis. I probably should have gotten the contis but I am a michelin fan boi.
It depends on where in NJ. I live there too, and our general area is plowed within hours after snowfall, so I never actually have to drive in real snow. Worst case there is a surprise snowfall, and I have to face an inch snow or so… These tires are enough to get me home in that case.
@@CampusautoCo He asked my question, so I would imagine the answer would be the same for a 2018 Audi A8? do you think made in Mexico would affect the quality?
Great video! Really informative. I just watched your comparison on the PS AS3s Vs the Conti DWS06s. Just wondering which would be better for a BMW 440i xDrive in NYC, the PS AS4s or the Conti DWS06s?
For SURE bro. I also daily my SS (2018 so it’s a 6th gen for reference). I put these on a few days ago dude and they are FANTASTIC, and I’m not even fully broken in w them yet. Handling is crazy good (I like it way more than the continental dws 06 handling, I had trouble feeling much with those) and the traction is just nuts. I hook instantly at pretty much any speed which is super nice, and they are crazy good in the rain. I can floor it at around 43-50 mph or so and I’ll hook immediately and very consistently (again this is in the RAIN). Braking distance is also solid in wet and dry. I hope you got them bro
I have a 2013 S550 RWD. Continental contiprocontact MO tyres are OE equipment. These Michelins are roughly the same price as well. Should I stick to OE tyres or should I buy Michelins. My priority is soft and quiet ride.
Thanks for what you do. We all appreciate it!! Which tires would be better for 2021 Honda Accord sport 2.0? Extreme contact dws+ or these Michelin AS4?
Do these have "M+S" on the sidewall? Caltrans sometimes checks that when chain control is in effect in the winter. You don't need chains if you have 4/all wheel drive and M+S on the sidewall.
Thank you for the review! Trying to decide between these, DWS 06+, or Vredestein Quatrack Pro for a new mazda3 FWD. I need a good all-year tire that is dependable in light to medium snow. Which would you recommend? Thanks!
@@CampusautoCo how about between Michelin AS4 or Continental DWS06 Plus for an Xdrive M3, is one of these tires better than the other for tractikn during straight line acceleration from a stop light?
I have a 2016 Challenger RT and have ordered 4 of these. I'm hoping for QUIET. The BFGs on it now had a growl when installed 4 years ago and have gotten worse with age. The oem summer tires that came on the car were quiet. Hoping its not a curse of having an all season tire.Sounds like a great tire to try.
One thing you don't mention/explain in your videos is the curing mold block marks that are very close together on the Michelin as compared to other tires. I've been told that higher quality tires have mold block lines that are closer together.
So I've got a Chrysler 200 v6, al I do is drive to work 20 miles a day. I was told to look at these and the defender 2. I run dedicated winter tires, so I'm thinking I'd be better off with the Defender as I have no sporting intentions lol
Having used the A/S3 I can tell you these are more truly a 3 season tire, even if this one is advertised as 10% more snow traction by Michelin. Here in MN I had to use these briefly before I could switch to my winter wheel/tires, and the A/S3 was a joke on any snow, basically behaved like a summer tire. It would absolutely leave you stranded in 1-2" of snow. This was on a '06 CTS-V. Having said that, it had summer tire levels of grip on the road, and performed in cold temperatures as well if there was no snow. Tire wear on the A/S3 was not any better than the PS4 I just got done with. I'm trying these AS4 next. Plenty of grip on the road and hopefully some better wear as I commute daily 8 months of year with this car.
Would these be comfortable, quiet and smooth driving in south florida? Obviously its all season but I want something with low noise and to feel like i'm driving on pillows. Don't know if the florida heat would chew these up quick or if they'd stand a chance. Got a 2020 BMW 330i and drive pretty far for work and enjoy spirited driving.
even with all tires showing "outside" the tread looks different on the right side and on the left side of the car. One side the grooves slant to the back and the other side they slant to the front. Did my installer do something wrong?

Great video! Very informative! Continental run flats were recommended for my 2015 Mercedes Benz E350 Sport 4Matic, but Continental is having production delays and their products will be unavailable for several months (I contacted the company a few days ago). The Bridgestone Turanza LS100 run flats were also suggested, but are very expensive and offer no warranty. I live in North Carolina (lots of rain with a little ice and snow), but occasionally, travel northeast. Any suggestions?
@@rmat9023 It's a reference to safety. The benefit of driving on a flat until I reach safety, rather than waiting for help or getting out of my car to change a tire in an isolated and/or unsafe area is very appealing to me. However, I ended up purchasing Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus tires.
@@earthshine00 I had that set of Conti's on my previous car. They're very nice tires. We had about 6 inches of snow fall while I was at work and as long as I behaved they just chugged right along.
@jodysigmon5877 How are the tires holding up now? Do you still prefer the michelin? How's the gas mileage?
Great content, as always...do you think this tire would be a good replacement for OEM run flat continental on 2018 bmw x5 ? Thank You 👍
Yes, absolutely
I’m ordering the same ones for my bmw 430i x-drive they should do good in the winter
I appreciate your attention to detail. Keep doing you man!
I haven't taken them out in a snow storm yet though.
was it all right even on ice my big brother??
@@allaboutkoreanlife , yes, they did good on ice. The only time they were bad was in snow that was more than a few inches or cm deep.
Just picked mines up but the decorative side is on the outside. Stamped on decorative side it says outside none decorative side says inside. Guess there installed correctly. Mines also say made in USA
Awesome!
Van you compare this tire woth crossclimate 2 ??? That would be a great comparison
Great insight as always Matt ! I really appreciate your videos! Very informative. Keep up the great work sir!
Stay Safe!
Thanks!
Great reviews! I didn't realize the tech details and you described it perfectly. I had these on my Infinity FX-50 and just ordered a set for my 2005 Lexus SC-430. I'm excited to ride them on a lighter car.
As anyone ever told you that you’re a southern version of Jonah Hill?
How are you liking them
I plan on putting these on my 2019 Mustang Performance Pack in the spring. (255/40/19).
Would be interested to hear your views on comparing these to the Michelin crossclimate 2?
May I know why you recommend Continental Extremecontact DWS 06 Plus over Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 to drivers in NYC, Chicago, and other snowy winter cities?
Did we ever get an answer here lol? The AS4 beat the DWS 06 in many tests. Like actual braking and handling in the snow. Would love to hear why he favors the Contis soooo much?
Still no answer lol. Literally everyone has the AS4 being superior to the contis in the snow.
@@uhohitzmikey
Which one excels best in dry summer & wet conditions?
@@patrickanthony3632 Hi Anthony. I mounted them in November and they did well with snow on my 21 inch tires. The warmer weather is just hitting NY now and they have great grip. Everything I’ve read says they behave like 95% of summer tires. Excellent tire all around.
Great video! Would you recommend these for a 2019 vw GLI m/t?
Yes I would for sure!
Worst case there is a surprise snowfall, and I have to face an inch snow or so…
These tires are enough to get me home in that case.
Deciding between these and BF Goodrich F COMP-2 A/s + and I think imma pay CAD$200 more just cause of this video!
Good Choice!!!
Debating with the Pilot Sport All Season 4 and the Conti ExtremeContactDWS06+ for 2017 BMW X5 with sport package and staggered rims.
I’d do the Michelin in your case.
I would do the Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 Plus
Great video!! Is this a good tire for daily drive camaro ss?
Yes, definitely
Would you say this AS4 or the DWS 06 plus on a Civic Type R in the Pacific Northwest?
awesome video
DWS06 Plus
They come stock on non Z51 C8 corvettes. It's a great tire...
Thanks for the feedback.
I love this tire it rides great you done a great job on this review thanks
Thanks for watching!
Great video, would love your opinion on either these or the primacies that’re oe i believe on a 2021 explorer st…
I have a 2013 S550 RWD. Continental contiprocontact MO tyres are OE equipment. These Michelins are roughly the same price as well. Should I stick to OE tyres or should I buy Michelins. My priority is soft and quiet ride.
I got these on my 2017 wrx and let me tell you there is 7” inch’s of snow on the ground I had no problems picking up my friends and going sledding
I went to the tire shop to replace my old pilot sport 4s and the shop gave me these by mistake and I kinda like these better much less road noise
Thanks for what you do. We all appreciate it!! Which tires would be better for 2021 Honda Accord sport 2.0? Extreme contact dws+ or these Michelin AS4?
Either one would work fine. I would get the Continental.
Nice video. So for a rwd sports sedan that might see some light snow, this or the DWS 06 Plus?
Do these have "M+S" on the sidewall? Caltrans sometimes checks that when chain control is in effect in the winter. You don't need chains if you have 4/all wheel drive and M+S on the sidewall.
Was their ever a reason given as to why Michelin chose to have the designed side on the inside of the tire?
Thank you for the review! Trying to decide between these, DWS 06+, or Vredestein Quatrack Pro for a new mazda3 FWD. I need a good all-year tire that is dependable in light to medium snow. Which would you recommend?
Thanks!
DWS all day
@@CampusautoCo how about between Michelin AS4 or Continental DWS06 Plus for an Xdrive M3, is one of these tires better than the other for tractikn during straight line acceleration from a stop light?
I have a 2016 Challenger RT and have ordered 4 of these. I'm hoping for QUIET. The BFGs on it now had a growl when installed 4 years ago and have gotten worse with age. The oem summer tires that came on the car were quiet. Hoping its not a curse of having an all season tire.Sounds like a great tire to try.
@torTxoFognaTuluZ Haha Thats correct. The only noise I wanna hear is when I make them scream.
Excellent information. Thanks. Could I use Pilot sport all season 4 on a Jaguar XKR 2020?
One thing you don't mention/explain in your videos is the curing mold block marks that are very close together on the Michelin as compared to other tires. I've been told that higher quality tires have mold block lines that are closer together.
The 235/45ZR18 Pilot Sport All Season 4's I got are made in USA..
Just got some for my S4 Avant
Thanks for the feedback. MN is what I would consider extreme conditions. Keep me posted from here.
Conti extreme contac dws06+ or michelin pilot sport as4 which tire rides better over expansion joints, frost heaves, pothole and broken pavement? Thank you
Great video! As a woman who often drives alone at night, I like the concept of run flat tires, but have been reading about the tradeoffs. So, I'm considering other tires, such as the Michelin Pilot Sport AS4. I live in North Carolina (lots of rain with a little ice and snow), but occasionally, travel northeast. Any suggestions?
"a woman who often drives alone at night, I like the concept of run flat tires," I do not understand this part or how it relates to what you said.
When I didn't it was a slow slide and easy to catch. If they made 205/40 I'd put them on the new car in a heart beat.
I have had a set of these on my 2016 E350 Sport 4Matic wagon for almost a year now. They have been outstanding in all conditions. I bought them to replace a set of Pilot Sport A/S 3+, which replaced the OEM Continental ContiProContact that came with the car. The Contis have weak sidewalls which made for a softer ride than the Michelins but they also had a bad habit of bubbling in the summer heat. (FWIW I live in PA but spend a lot of time in SC in the summer). I hope you decided to go with the PS AS 4.
Just bought these from Costco, replacing pzero nero’s
I just had them installed and with my set the more decorated side is on the outside. Had me worried for a second.
He literally said the decorated side should be inside.
Thanks for the video. I'm wondering if anyone knows why on Tire Rack and places like that the XL rating is what is often showing up for my 19" 2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca? An SL or light load is hard to find. Do high performance sports cars require XL for some reason? Or can you explain the difference? Thank you anyone who happens to know this!
I have a 2018 fwd fusion would this be the best tire for my car? I don't drive in snow. Looking for quiet, good handling and long tread life? Having hard time choosing between this, quiet track, conti dsw and Yokohama yk740. Like watching your videos, thanks!
i live in NYC. shouldi go with these or winters? we get like 2 school snow days, 1-2 blizzrds per year and i dont drive much.
It's up to you. You could get by with these if you stay home on most snow days.
Michelin SUV/Truck tires are basically the best you can get even though tires like the Defender are not the best looking. So smooth and quiet. I run them on my Lexus GX 460 and love them but need an All-Terrain so I'm going to get the Continental Terraincontact A/T...........I had a Lexus IS350 that I traded in to get my GX 460 a couple years back. I bought these tires for that and for the money and my needs was not impressed by them. They were not quiet on my IS and preferred the Continental tires that come on the IS when I bought it. I cant remember what model they were though.
Thanks for your video!
Ps all 4 or dws06+ for 2020 m340i xDrive? I live in Toronto. Thank you!
DWS06 Plus
Just watched several reviews (of this tire). Another vid said the run-flats have the 30k warranty while the non-run-flats are 45k. DTD sells the "Y" non-flats that shows 45k warranty. Might need to verify if you are correct. Didn't see anything about noise/comfort. Review doesn't seem "hands on" the way most are.
Can you please make a review about Yokohama avid ascend gt thanks
Im in FL and they put these on my new Supra idk why because even though it’s north fl we do not get a lot of cold weather. They seem super bouncy and don’t like the handling. Should I break them in more (at 50 miles now) or switch to the ps4s?
These or the DWS 06 for a 2015 Mustang GT?? I won’t be driving in snow but I need the all season for those dry winter days because of the temperatures but will also be using them year round when spring comes around and you need that traction around corners and spirited driving. Which ones?
Hi, would you recommend this tire for a CAMARO SS ? I recently purchased a 2022 and I would like to replace the run flat summer only tires with these as I live in a colder climate and would like to drive the camaro year round.
They came on my new C8 in Seattle. Definitely recommend them.
I live on the coast of NC. I have a 2012 Genesis coupe 2.0T and I'm in the market for some new footwear. I use my car for a 30 minute commute at speeds of anywhere between 35 and 60 mph as well as spirited rides. Would you recommend these over something like the Conti DWS 06?
Yes i would. You will be happy with the DWS06+
Have a Subaru STI 2019 with Michelin Pilot A/S 3+. Looking at these OR the dws06+ tires. For me: turn in and snow capability matter. What is your opinion of the next tire..the DWS06's (not plus's) have the reputaiton of being less sharp/less precise. Thank you.
Thinking of putting these on my 1990 300zx twin turbo🤔
Just ordered these for my Supra 2.0

Dude absolutely not !!! These tires are for street use only and lack the pure sporty feel you get from a dedicated summer tire
I just got these with 245 on the front and 275 rear with 3 year protection for $1200
