National Train Day with some new friends - May 11, 2019 at Amsterdam, NY

- The morning of May 11th had started off like any other long trip's morning: early. We were out the door running by about 4 o'clock to begin our nearly five-hour trek northeast. After about two calm hours of being the only car on I-81, the sun had finally made its appearance to stay for the rest of the day. After crossing into New York and changing onto I-88, our route began to parallel the old D&H, and, as the miles ticked on, my father looked over to the tracks (I was driving) and noticed a northbound train. As we overtook it from afar, my dad looked over once more and noticed the Conrail Heritage Unit. I threw our 2005 Buick into hyperdrive as to get a ways ahead, while my dad looked for crossings along the D&H. We happened upon a crossing not too far off the beaten path in Worcester, NY. After a quick stop in town to see the train and get some food (Funnily enough, in January, we had stopped in Worcester for snacks and a bathroom break as well), we continued towards Amsterdam. It was by sheer coincidence that my father and I had planned a railfanning trip up to Amsterdam for that day. It wasn't until other railfans had shown up a few trains in that we remembered it was National Train Day. The highlight of the day, I would say, was the hilarious, hours-long foam fest over what we thought at the time was a standard cab CN Dash 8, but turned out to be a wide nose of AT&SF lineage (45:44).

Excellent photography on the CSX Chicago line. I don’t care where you go. I love your videos.
Awesome Video! I’m really trying to Hit Up Upstate NY, and Amsterdam this December or This Summer, trying to get as many YN2s before they’re gone…
Love this place
What is the spirit of Dante?
I didn't have room in the description or the end for that matter, but I didn't forget -

What kind of microphone did you use in this video?
At the time of this video's recording I used the built-in mic on my Sony CX440.
@@NickyDsTrainsfor your editor system, did you use a equalizer, if you did what settings did you use?
What place is this?
And nice video!👍
The video starts off on the former D&H line in Worcester, NY, but the majority of the runtime comes from the Amtrak station in Amsterdam, NY
