***** Not the first time I've seen it (I'm middle aged), I saw the original when it 1st came out.. :) It was a joke as these are children. (As you know, the original is highly sexually suggestive).
My goodness, my now 17yr old used to watch this on continuous repeat for the better part of 2 years! Sometimes I will blast this and he'll just smile and chuckle but act like it's something he didn't like that much lol. Now I find myself listening to this version of the Devo version I used to know. It has more spunk to it and the keyboards sound better. I also love the distortion on the guitar as well in this version. Yeah, I'm weird and have now become my son, sans the heavy rotation of the song/album hahahaha. They did a great job! The singer still does her thing nowadays.
I actually just read an article about this, with Mark and Gerry interviews. From what M&G said, my understanding was that these kids could actually play. They were probably miming for the video, but (again, this is my understanding, not fact) apparently they actually did perform.
They look like they can actually play, but they didn't play this. Wikipedia says they mimed songs re-recorded by DEVO with vocals from the girl, Nichole Stoehr. Discogs credits them only as "actor/actress on videos." www.discogs.com/DEV2O-DEV2O/release/1167812
i use to work as a manager of a KBTOYS and this cut of the Divo song would come on and it drove me crazy. there music player would play this song all the time out of the 3 years i worked there! im just glad to know this was not some crazy crap in my head!
Great job Nicole. Mark and gang should really make you the new permanent singer for DEVO. That would be so awesome for all you guys. Otherwise then best wishes with the pHd.
As a school teacher, children's entertainer, parent, and DEVO NUT, I thought this project was great! My kids watched the DVD all the time, and the sound of the tunes was great ... "Peek A Boo" was just as good as the original, and "The Winner" was never actually done by the band (I'm not sure). Wish it continued - I think there were a couple of shows/appearances?
I've got mixed feelings -- a gut feeling -- about this, but if anything, it's pretty cool that the "gunshots" (0:56) are still with us in live versions of the song, as Mark aims his imaginary rifle and fires along. Maybe the hand-clap-sounding explosions from the original were a little too provocative for Disney.
Here's the Casale brothers from DEVO to answer all your questions about this: ruclips.net/video/f6riQ-9CBbs/видео.html Now someone answer *my* question -- Why does this clip have 10x the views of any other DEV2.0 track? Disney must've given it some sort of push, I'm guessing...
She's on RUclips doing showreels of her singing/performing abilities. Ironically, the keyboardist who is doing the least on the video is now a famous actor and among other films starred in The Hunger Games.
disney is one of the many reasons "we are D-E-V-O" i wish they could at least be in costume and do all the theatrics. Theres so much more to Devo than their pop songs that disney will now profit from . i wanna see them do smart patrol and pink pussycat and iim a potato.
If My life as a teenage robot reboots, they should do an episode where they form an 80s synthwave band called “The Futures” covering this song and more Devo songs. Here’s the lineup Jenny-Lead Vocals Misty-Synthesizer/Background Vocals Brad-Guitar Sheldon-Bass Tuck-Drums
They actually did pretty well. I don't see why Disney had to be such a duche about them growing up. Their videos had to be childish because that's what Disney wanted- an audience of children.
They like, got together, looked at each other, and said "Let's make Kidz Bop like music (which nobody likes), except that we have a vocalist that over-enunciates everything but her fucking McDonalds order, we only play Devo songs, and we have no talent whatsoever." And they *went with it.*
This is not any different from Milli Vanilli. Oh wait, this IS different. Milli Vanilli wanted people to actually believe they were for real, Dev2.0 did not.
They wear 'em in all the promo stills. But this was from DEVO's Oh No era, so the proper outfits would be black square-neck sleeveless T-shirts worn under a white "spudring", along with black pants & belt and black leather loafers.

None of these popular kids would have hung out with real DEVO when they were kids. The singer has some talent. I don't think 'Synthetic Things' is her future. She could front a band. Success is always a longshot, but she wouldn't be the limiting factor.
@@chilliecheesecake I'm saying that these kids were all probably popular in school, especially the singer and jock pretending to play guitar. DEVO were probably a bunch of dorks as kids. The two groups would have hated each other as kids
@@groundhog5923 Dude did you even go to public school? When I was in middle/high school the kids who were in band or choir, or who were in some type of band (myself inclusive), definitely werent hanging out with the popular kids. It's at once tragic that this project failed and wondrous that I live in an era where Devo and Disney collaborated.
these kids did a damn fine job, but they should have wore the domes...
tsk tsk. Devo didn't wear them in EVERYthing, you know.
I actually have this CD. I think it is a pretty well made remake for the newer generation and I like it too.
I actually just read an article about this, with Mark and Gerry interviews. From what M&G said, my understanding was that these kids could actually play. They were probably miming for the video, but (again, this is my understanding, not fact) apparently they actually did perform.
Y’all don’t understand how LONG I’ve been looking for this. Ah my childhood was amazing
This weirdly makes sense. De-evolution.
It does, but at the same time, like if Disney is going to give you a dump truck full of money are you gonna say no?
They did wear the cones in photos.
I'm not sure about video.
I love this! 😱💓 these kids are so talented 👍
This is actually one of the best covers Ive ever heard. Good work!
This group was my jam when I was little :))))
Did I do LSD
As a note, they actually are playing the instruments. With some degree of audio editing and assistance from Devo, but that's them playing.

If I had kids I would force them to watch this daily
I had this on DVD+CD. Memories...
That's the Best DEVO Cover EVER
Excellent!!! And THEY DO PLAY THE INSTRUMENTS...
Freaking loved this group. They were very under appreciated. It's a shame how much they were criticized and they didn't deserve it.
Are they still playing? R there any other tribute groups?
This is triffic 👌
Oh my god I finally found it. I thought this was a fever dream I had one time.
That lead singer kicks ass

Kane Ritchotte did play.
He was and is a talented drummer.
He also played Sharona's son Benji in the early seasons of Monk.
@@Dreamline78 Kane was in a teen movie before Monk.
Do yo happen to know its name?
Awesome cover
Love it awesome 👌 👏
Thumbs up for the dancing dinosaurs!!
That moment you realize the frog at 0:25 and the singer at 0:26 have the same expression...
I shit my pants and came in them AT THE SAME TIME.
I love it!
I see people praise it, but no, Mark Mouthersbaugh did and still does it best.
I actually like this! XD
Love the lead singer and keyboardist
masterpiece!
Very Good

super!!!!!
The best singer Jacqueline Emerson
She has talent
they can all play. or at least the keyboardist can because she still plays
Totally remember this on Disney!! Wonder where they are all at now
Thank JoJo and Star Control for letting me know about DEVO.
And this side project also awesome!

I honestly think this version of this song rules

you mean spud rings?
I wonder how many young fans of this went on to be an actual DEVO fan?
heyyy thats my old Chanel! I WAS A TOP COMMENT!!!! YEAH!!!!!!
Awesome!
Devo rules!

Under the terms of the DEV2.0 contract, when Mark dies Nicole is legally the lead singer for DEVO.
Omg Jackie is so mini-fied! xD
so cool some youngins are aware of Devo
I agree. They should be wearing the domes.
The MonkEEs is how it was spelled, and you are incorrect, they could and did frequently play live, quite well.
Awesome, do you have more?
Omg the keyboard player is Foxface from the hunger games.
always found the lead singer actually looked like she has huge potential. did she do any other stuff?
She's on RUclips doing showreels of her singing/performing abilities. Ironically, the keyboardist who is doing the least on the video is now a famous actor and among other films starred in The Hunger Games.
mfactor88. She playing in a band called synthetic things
Know what I still can't believe? They redid Devo and it's actually not too bad.

Yes. Yes this is definitely Devolution at its oddest and most wonderfully ironic. xD
Go and re-watch your collection of Jennifer Aniston romantic comedies.
Nothing compares to the original, but I'm sure you are doing your best effort. Nice go ahead =)
i only know about this band because of Jacqueline's role as foxface
Check out those golfball eyes! The rest of her grew up to be Kate Stoehr . Look it up here.
That keyboardist is wayyyy too enthusiastic
i am looking for this video kids devo wipp it > please post on you tube thanks

wheres the fry and donut?
subtracted out of this version because "reasons"
She's not the singer. She's the keyboard player.
Well then...
