Everyone feels proud seeing their countries in the list. What they don't understand is foreign reserve is just the amount of US dollar a country holds. So a high foreign reserve held by these countries is actually beneficial to USA. Because it means these countries produce a lot of stuffs, in return USA give them a piece of paper. It also means higher US dollar gives USA the ability to buy stuffs at dirt cheap price.

As Indian, I have never thought that from 300 Billion US$ around 2018 would be more then doubled to 603 Billion US$ till this day. Since I was in 8th standard, I was listening about Forex Reserve and was very interested in it. But this I have never imagined.
The main reason is that our Bonds and Investment and purchase of US$ by RBI. The bonds released by government was more lucrative then of other Nations. I also saw a massive 57 Billion US$ Investment still when GDP is in Negative.
I think our P0liticians should work on nation. Rather then doing p0litics for their cheap gains on the expense of the people

With 1.4 billion population, India's foreign reserve is really not much, specially in comparison with tiny countries like Singapore, Hongkong or Taiwan. However, india being a poor country, that much of a reserve sitting idle is not a healthy sign either for the economy!
