I have had it and it didn't really hurt at all.

I've had this done dozens of times. Sometimes it can be a bit uncomfortable (base of the skull for example) but the only time it would actually hurt me is when my back was already sore and they'd press up against an affected disc (I have a degenerative condition in my lumbar spine which causes bulging discs)
