Now that's what I'm talking about some good old Mustie1 laying on of hands! That sucker runs like a champ, ...and it restarted like it was practically a new sled. Awesome, man with heated grips too! That had to have been a high dollar unit, when new....still worth a few bucks and ought to be fun!
Have you ever used the old gas to start your burn piles on fire? With some old oil? Soaked in some old oil and grease soaked t-shirts? Works pretty good :-)
Fuji engines never die, my cousin had a 89 indy trail with at least 9000 miles never rebuilt, and I have a 91 indy 400 with 8500+ on it (speedometer cable broke at the start of the season)
Dang, I think I smell that smoke all the way over here!! LOL..good work. I guess I should get mine ready too, all the snow this changed course and is in cheese land. B
I just got one to but it had nests in the fuel pump and the gas was lime green, it must have had some preserving stuff in it after about 6 hrs. of fixxing it was all worth it. And i only bought it for 400 dollars
hows the psi on the pistons? i know those old indy twins ran to 10,000 miles with no problems sometimes the motors outlasted the chasiss lol i had a 89 indy traill 488cc with 6k 105psi on both still running strong im gonna see how long it can run
hey do you think you could do a video of how to get a lawn mower block apart cuz im trying to get an old brings and straton engin apart and i got all the bolts out and the shaft that gose to the blade is whats stoping me from gettting it a part so if you have time i would aparicyate it alot thanks
butchykid263 What makes you think he is running the engine in the summer? The Video was posted November? The leaves turning color and falling on the ground? That he is wearing a t shirt, hoody and a flannel lined jacket?
Gotta love the gas power blowers, I hear in the background. I have at least 2 neighbors w/ like 60x90 yards that own them. I generally cold start the Harley and give them some sweet engine sounds of my own!
James Norse>>>Synthetic oil runs cleaner and creates less carbon buildup, but there is definitely still smoke. Why would you want no smoke? It’s a 2-stroke.
Mike Spain I had a fleet of four stroke engines that burned oil and fouled plugs alot along with alot of blue smoke. After I switched to synthetic 4 stroke it stopped the plug fouling and reduced smoke . I raced motocross two strokes bikes and synthetic oil best no smoke or seized pistons stuck rings etc. My outboard motor Yamaha synthetic oil no smoke either .New age oils much better.
V-G-Z Never had an issue with any older motor from synthetic oil. I have rebuild hundreds of motors. I use regular oil in leaking ones to expensive. I find motors start easily in cold weather using synthetic also.
lol never run those sleds out of gas. i have the same sled and everytime it runs out i have a very hard time starting it again when i put more gas in it.
great vis as always
mustle1 looks like you have a winner! Good for you they don't always end so happy.

Seems pretty good
Thanks for talking us through what you did before attempting to start.
looks like it was reasonably taken care of over the years. I'm surprised the hand warmers work. Good deal!
Nice! Runs good...
Any update on this thing now? Just bought one and have 0 knowledge on sleds. Can't find any info on these
Pull-starting a 500cc would wear anyone down really quick

bro i am 12 years old and i have my snowmobile license i love old snowmobiles
thats something you have the same carbs and pipe on your sled just like the ones on my 91 jag sounds just like mine too
@mustie1 i was using a sledge hammer couse the block is ruined couse i conecting rod let loose and went through the block and its like 50 years old
Sounds pretty healthy and especially for sitting so long.
Funny , the carbs look like the Mikuni's from my old Suzuki T-500.
Awesome! Always love getting old sleds back out there and running again
Love wedge chassis sleds
Thats why i bought a polaris!
Dang, I think I smell that smoke all the way over here!! LOL..good work. I guess I should get mine ready too, all the snow this changed course and is in cheese land. B
@NewRiverRepair very true
@FLYINHIGH5 better note leave it around, that would taste like crap

You're so busy you make me a bit dizzy! I would love a ride on that thing in a snowstorm.
@brian242 the air is almost clear, and now all my stuff around it wont rust,, all part of my master plan
@Peppercatkeith sounds like a race is needed

we trail road it about a week ago, and it ran well,,
@jeremylee99100 I dont have one to tear apart at the moment but a good rubber hammer tapping at the seems should do it,
I got this same sled. Mine is a 1990 and it only has 2175 miles on it.
l picked it up the way it was the day before this vid, its restored and back in operation,
@231flash thanks
@wildeyednorthernboy dont think that I wont run it on the grassif it dosent snow,,,
Go for it!
cuz l screwed up, l jacked up the bumper to lift the track off the trailer but never released the strap,

Hi
Sounds good!
@7minibike2 its alive,,,
Isn't some kind of shroud that blows hot engine air on the drive belt assembly to help keep it from icing up? Thanks for the video.
synthetic two stroke oils no smoke
a myth

For modern engines, yes. For old engines no, you can ruin them slowly but surely, although thiey might not smoke.
V-G-Z Never had an issue with any older motor from synthetic oil. I have rebuild hundreds of motors.
I use regular oil in leaking ones to expensive. I find motors start easily in cold weather using synthetic also.
got to put some bogies on it and wait for snow
sounds good a little work you have a nice looking sled
lol never run those sleds out of gas. i have the same sled and everytime it runs out i have a very hard time starting it again when i put more gas in it.
@dutchurbanminer they get used on alot of things
@mustie1 AWESOME.
Not bad trade
@89fordpickup ah it was just gas in a bottle,,
U gona post some update vids on it?
You're so busy you make me a bit dizzy!
@queenofyeay now I wanna play
booog booggg boooggg lol them sleds are pure shit.. gotta have em reving to make any power
no they aren't it was boging because it needs a tune up
hows she running have you done a rebuild yet?
Just to let you no not to be rude or anything but, it's REALY BAD for the sled when its just sitting like that
Why no eletric strt
ask polaris
Not all sleds have it but it can be installed, most newer sleds have it installed to increase market value
boys we have a runner!!!!
Nice!
why did u tie the seat that way it could have ripped easyily next time strap it on the bumper its a better choice
just suckin in all that debris in both carbs. that one will now quit on you way back on the trail someplace
