This cover does not get nearly enough attention. One of the best covers of any song Ive heard. My favorite performance from Marko as well
This is a 3 year old posting, but I had to mention this as no one else has: The album was "Division Bell", and "High Hopes" was the last track. This is a brilliant 'tribute' to Pink Floyd, and not just a 'cover'. Marco was such a vital part of Nightwish. He will be sorely missed. And we wish him well in his new journey.

Nightwish always delivers. I loved the original by Pink Floyd, but given a choice,,, I would listen to this one.

Marko is really a great singer and he just adds something to the songs he sings......Try his song....Isani aani ( Voice of My Father)......Try the Finnish version......one word...Beautiful.......Or him and his brother's band ...Tarot.....Wings of Darkness
Definitely the Finnish version "Isäni ääni"! ("Isani aani" is just fine). It's from Marko's solo album 2019. Many foreigners say it's better than the English language version. I agree. You can find the English transation in the comments of the official video, I think it's in the 1st comment. One comment: "Marko could be singing a dictionary and I would listen." As a Finn it's difficult to imagine how Finnish language sounds for foreigners. But I think it's suitable for singing, also according to many foreigners.

Can confirm, it was indeed mindblowing. One of the most incredible live experiences I've ever had. I remember thinking that something feels wrong but at the same time everything is exactly as it should be -- and later when I found out Tarja was fired that night it really cemented my belief that they could survive it.

The Division Bell is the name of the album, 'High Hopes' is the name of the song. You should do a remembering reaction to the original 'High Hopes' with David Gilmore's solo at the end. That would be awesome!

This was Nightwish. Their music is so great, and this is not even their lead vocalist. Also, if you like Pink Floyd, check out a band from the UK called Porcupine Tree or Steven Wilson who wrote and sang for that band. It's like a modern day Pink Floyd with original contenf.

Pink Floyd is an all-time favorite band of mine. Their "High Hopes" is melancholy and retrospective in nature. But THIS version blows me away! Marko's vocals are full of pain and regrets, if that makes sense. It makes me tear up every time I hear it. David Gilmour is a superb vocalist, don't get me wrong, but Marko puts real, raw human emotion into this version. Great reaction, Alex, as always. That has been a period of pain and anger and maybe regrets about old times. Remember that right after that show Tarja was dismissed.
Indeed, you are very right. Original is just great, because well, Pink Floyd, what else needs to be said. But this one - absolutely amazing. To me this is the best version of the song, even better then the original one - and I love original one.

I love the little touch of the circular screen above as a nod to Pink Floyd. Marko has also been known to sport a Pink Floyd shirt on occasion.

It's one thing to do Gilmour's vocals but Emppu elevates here on guitar.
All i can think concerning covers ever made, there is Jimi Hendrix "all along the watchtower", which i guess was originally on album John Wesley Harding by Bob Dylan and this High hopes cover which are really giving something extra for the original. I am sure there must be also other once, but thinking at the moment gives only these two. This version is pure dynamite.

This is a Tribute to PF. Marco is awesome as the other guys too. End of an Era is one of the best concerts ever.
This was from the 2005 Helsinki concert during the End of an Era tour. They fired Tarja right after this.

Yee-ha! You did it! The song is from the Pink Floyd album "The Division Bell", understandable title mix-up. Gotta love Jukka! He was SO into the music - if he played guitar he'd be racing Emppu all over the stage!.... All of the guys are on FIRE for this song!...I made a life-long Pink Floyd fan into a Nightwish song by showing him this!... How's that solo by Mr Vuorinen!!!? (edit: there are plenty more covers usually sung by Marko - Dio "Don't talk to Strangers" , Megadeth "Symphony of Destruction" , WASP "Wild Child", Black Sabbath "Crazy Train", Motorhead..... the list goes on!!!)

Marco and Troy sings and plays acustic another Pink Floyd song Money, there are some another covers also like Ace of Spades, Gracy Train or Show Me How to Die to name some quality of videos not so good
This is Markolicious or reMarkoble. But not only Marko, but every guy, Emppu, Jukka, Tuomas was perfect creating this amazing atmosphere. Like you said, imagine beeing there.
Down side beeing that Tarja had to go after this concert. Not getting into that more. Just stating a fact.

ManOwaR - The Power Of Thy Sword
To me the Pink Floyd version is more melancholic and the Nightwish one has more angst and is darker, which fits my style more, so I prefer that one, but both versions are stunning.

Nice cover but nothing can be compared with David Gilmour live performance in Gdansk. The final solo with the acoustic guitar and the philharmonic orchestra is so emotional that brings me to tears.
