NPS was implemented by Congress government and now UPS implemented by BJP government.
But UPS is more better than NPS.
In NPS you were supposed to get higher corpus at the time of retirement with liberty to invest the amount with your choice. But how much pension you will get was not defined. Now who will opt for the UPS will get less corpus but a 50% of defined pension.
So there no question of OPS now for the government employees.

The National Pension System (NPS) was introduced in India by the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government on January 1, 2004. UPS is just a changed of policy from NPS.
