I went to Parris Island in 1985. I believe the differences are subtle based on the locations. Back then, 1st Battalion was said to be the most intense in terms of PT. 2nd Battalion was said to be the most spit and polish because it was the showpiece battalion that visitors and senior command leadership encountered each day. 2nd battalion also had the distinction of singing their marching cadence. 3rd Battalion was said to be the most stressful because it was located furthest from the eyes and ears of the command. The differences you cite can be attributed to different leadership personnel and different recruit composition which is by virtue of chance, not battalion or company.
I just graduated from Paris island 1st battalion Charlie Co Plt 1093 and our series(Follow)….. we always hiked back from the range no matter what everyday.
I humped to rifle range when I was in India Company 3028 2001 and Got dropped to Kilo Company 3036 they humped to rifle range . 3rd Battalion was that the drill instructors played more games and drill instructors was under investigation in Kilo company.
I’m the only person I know , that went thru Paris island twice , Yea twice , first time made it thru 3 rd phase. Broke my femur in the field , stayed in bueford naval hospital for a month . Then , I requested to be discharged, That took another month , after that a capt told me , before checking out , he could change my mos for me , but I would have to completely go thru another boot camp , phase 2 , I was lied to , and was sent to 3rd battalion, in summer of 1986 . Graduation, the d I s. Got drunk , and started to make us do mountain climbers with our grad uniforms on in the sand jus before graduation march on the parade deck , sent to barracks duty after school of infantry, in Philippines . Wow , I had a blast there ., that’s all I can say . Did a second enlistment as a military police at Camp Pendleton . Retired an e5 . .
I notice the cover image to the right logo has a number three on it on the left logo has a C on it. The third letter of the English alphabet is C. On a different subject, if you keep the two separate, the third letter C, which the prime of 3 goes all the way down to number 1. Also, the K is number 11 and the prime of 11 goes all the way down to 3.
Thanks Dawg for clearing up that age old question , this Marine was in 1st Battalion and always heard 3 rd Battalion was where the killers were made , so I was jealous for years, thinking I got cheated on the experience , 1 st Battalion Drill I’d be thinking why I’m doin this biatch shit , I should be training with the killers , now I know ,I believe u , 3rd Battalion are the biggest bullshit artist , next to those Hollywoods with that hill they climb , thinking it’s Mt Everest , can’t wait to bump into a 3rd Battalion Marine , Stay Up , Semper Fi Devil
I was on Parris Island during the summer of 1999. This was before they built the new 3rd Battalion. I got dropped to PCP and eventually, RSP. I didn't finish boot camp. During my time in PCP, the platoon ate at the 1st Battalion chow hall. 3rd Battalion chow hall was nicer back then too. However, during my time in RSP, the platoon ate at the 4th Battalion chow hall. Back then, 4th Battalion chow hall was the nicest of the three.
I was in C Co few years back.. we fought alot too we used to call our shi the dog pound lmao / steel sharpens steel ...i can say we were all xtremly motivated and wanted more than anything to make tht transformation into a Marine. wanted to perfect what we were taught had huge hunger for knowledge & be even better than the ones before us. *Yep some of those buildings been around since the end of the Cold War
I was in platoon 1025 Charlie company at Jan 11th. I had staff Sargent Collins, sgt masters, ssgt morris, sgt rodriquez and sgt Gibson. It’s a wild ride dawg. Ssgt Collins is meant to a SDI now.
