It was sad to see him going from fist-bumping Utley, Rollins, and Victorino/Abreu/Polanco in packed stadiums early in his career to Ben Revere, Cody Asche, and Tommy Joseph in empty ballparks at the end.
When Howard used the opposite field he was unstoppable, but for some reason he got it in his head along the way that he needed to be a pull hitter and was never as good.
Well, the league adjusted. And they started elevating high fastballs to him, which he almost always swung through. As he aged, I’d say by 2010, he was 70% the player he was in 05-06. I still say Utley is the greatest Phillie during the glory years (04-09)
No, Howard was pretty consistent through the 2011 season. He never really got back on his feet (no pun intended) after the Achilles tear in the playoffs. It's quite sad. Also, he always hit oppo tacos, even through the end of his career. That really never changed. He punished mistakes out over the plate.
Yes he did. He called the ones Ryan Howard hit in 2005, 2006, and 2007. You have to remember that based on certain video clips when putting these montages together that sometimes the broadcast team for a particular team aren't always the available guys.
Ryan Howard remember him unfortunately he was hot for a short time. Then kind of faded off. If I remember correctly he finished his career back in the minors
I miss the ballpark being packed and off the chain every night.
this season it will be back
@@thepope9648 this aged well

Ryan was amazing to watch but having Rollins, Victorino, Utley and many others to set the table for him definitely helped!
That’s why their called grand slams. 🙄
He can't sell paper to save his life, but he sure can hit homers.
Underrated comment there I love it
Ryan might not have HoF stats but his peak was INSANE!
He should be elected to Hall of Fame with his stats.
he’s on the ballot for 2022 :D
Awesome video! Great memories.
2:58 I was at that game and the place went absolutely batshit crazy. Man I miss the 07-11 Phillies.

Hearing Harry's voice breaks my heart he was the voice of the phillies
15 Grand Slams in a career that lost meaningful time due to injury. Philly legend.
1:14 damn Ryan on a 0-2 pitch on the road off a lefty.
That was peak Howard for sure.
Michael Klugman I remember a notorious saying with Oliver Perez then was “are you going to get good Ollie or bad Ollie”?
Anytime he hit a home run against the Mets it was GREAT...
Should be a HOFer
Tied with Griffey Junior for fifteen all time.

I only want to hear kalas call these
My sister is in this holy
Him and A-Rod were automatic grand slams
Howard, AROD, Manny, Robin Ventura.
2006-2009 the most dangerous man in baseball
A BIG guy who batted in a sand box stadium
The next night didn’t they tie it up off Gagne, breaking his streak? I believe they ended up winning that game as well.
Not one Harry Kalas call of his slamies?
46 home runs! Did Alberto Pujols ever do that?
He hit 58 one year.

Seeing McCutchen on the pirates is so weird

Little league sized stadium if you think Howard had power he did but move over
