    Heather is a true patriot, her writings are succinct, well written facts. She’s knows her stuff and is so level headed about it all. She’s a massive asset we’re ever so lucky to have.

    I would love to see how Heather Cox Richardson has affected history with her Letters to an American and her talks and books. She has affected my life tremendously. And I believe history.

    I am so grateful to read Heather's letters and watch Heather with interest, and I'm a Canadian! Watching this because the whole world is worried as I am! Let's hope that the people of the USA wake up!

    I texted my daughter in July 1, 2024 saying, “Mark this date on your calendar, 7-1-24, the day SCOTUS killed democracy.” 😢 Thank you Heather for educating Americans.

    So grateful to Heather for the letters. I've been following from the beginning, and often dive into the references at the bottom of the letters. I feel like I've earned my own private PhD in this moment in time, guided by one of the brightest lights of our generation.

    Thank you so much doing the work you do now, HCR! Really helping me survive this time in US. I remember listening to live arguments from SC about the immunity case, and thinking NO WAY, there's no way they can agree to something so egregious, that would reflect on them so badly in history, the loss of a real democracy. When the decision came down, my stomach dropped, and I took a deep breath.

    Listening to what Heather had to say about The Debate, its immediate aftermath and Kamala on July 10th (start from around minute 48) , is how things have transpired. By choosing Tiim Walz as her running mate, she has not only kept that coalition together, but expanded and energized it. We're not going back!

    I heartily recommend Richardson's book, "How The South Won The Civil War." Not a cheery read but definitely helps explain where we are under Trump, MAGA, Project 2025, etc. Vote Harris/Walz!

    Thank you❤ I am grateful for your work and humbled at 75 years to wake up to the threat to our democracy. Faith in government was shattered by the assassination of JFK. I was too young to vote and never voted until Obama. Then I voted for Hillary. The threat and nightmare of Trump is truly a clarion call to motivate all Americans to defend our priceless, fragile democracy. Harris-Walz are answered prayer.❤🇺🇸💙

    Thank you for discussing the SCOTUS decision. The lack of emphasis about the gravity of it has broken my heart more than anything else. It is catastrophic and so is the indifference to it. I’ve been beside myself about it. Thank YOU, Heather!

    Richardson is the very best. at pointing out the worst and darkest that must be seen, while standing for a transformative point of departure in how we react, and that this transformation is thewhole point of the Democratic process .

    "... foundational principle..."
    As in Abraham Lincoln's speech against the Dred Scott decision--
    There is not only a striking symmetry to the current Supreme Court decision about Donald Trump, but there is also a feeling.
    In the former decision, the Supreme Court held that certain people are inferior.
    In the latter, the Supreme Court held that one person is superior.
    Concerning the inequality, Lincoln warned of tyranny.
    An excerpt:
    "The assertion that 'all men are created equal'
    was of no practical use in effecting our separation from Great Britain;
    and it was placed in the Declaration, not for that, but for future use.
    Its authors meant it to be, (thank God, it is now proving itself) a stumbling block to those who in after times
    might seek to turn a free people back into the hateful paths of despotism.
    They knew the proneness of prosperity to breed tyrants,
    and they meant when such should reappear in this fair land
    and commence their vocation
    they should find left for them at least one hard nut to crack."
    Lincoln's word "hateful" translates into our current language as "hate filled".
    Performing the translation, we talk not only about the freedom TO pursue life liberty and happiness, but also about the freedom FROM:
    "...those who in after times
    might seek to turn a free people back into the hate filled paths of despotism."
    Sound familiar?
