I stitched in a hoop years ago, I’m talking at least 35 years, when I first began counted cross stitch. I hadn’t cross stitched in years as I became more interested in other crafts such as decorative painting, then scrapbooking, quilting and card making. I started following your card making socials, and then fairly recently found your floss tube, and you renewed my interest in cross stitching, and I’ve caught the bug! After watching you stitch I tried stitching in hand, and while at first it felt awkward, I now love it! 1, 2 & 5.
Nichol, Thank you for another very entertaining Flosstube video. Although I do not do cross stitching, I do needlepoint and many hand stitching projects which I do during the videos. We moved about 2 years ago from our home of 15 years and an area that I just loved. My husband has been ill since we got to our new home and area and I have not really been able to meet many people. Thus being a Patreon member and watching your videos has been a real blessing to me. I use a hoop for any kind of hand stitching except with felt. I bought some beautiful hand made wooden hoops and I will have to look up the name of the company and will attach it to another Flosstube.
1 or 2. I do use a hoop and I use a wooden hoop. They were my grandmother’s and I love that I get to carry on her love of cross stitching. Getting to use the same hoops she had in her loving hands warms my heart ❤️
When I first started stitching over 25 yes ago, I always used a hoop. Since I started watching you, I’ve been stitching in hand. Never knew that was a thing, so thank you 😊 1,2
I stitch with a frame. When I first started many years ago I used a snap frame. I had put down my stitching for some time to finish my degree but have joyfully returned! I love it and really missed doing it. I recently stitched my son-in-law a Christmas stocking to go with my daughter’s stocking that I made for her 31 years ago! I have really enjoyed finding your RUclips stitching channel! I love giveaway #2! Thanks again!❤️
I too always used a hoop but since I started watching flosstubes and saw people stitching in hand that is what I am doing now too. Love it. 1,2,3,4,5. Thank you!
1 3 4 5 Each time I comment, I tell you how much I enjoy these Flosstubes - and I really do love them! You have inspired me to go back to counted cross stitch after many years. I actually used to do it all the time, in a hoop, and then I started cardmaking and that consumed all of my free time! Now I am still cardmaking but also doing counted cross stitch - without a hoop!! I do like it better and am currently working on the very pretty tiny town. I am not nearly as complete as you are but I'm ok with that and do admire all you get one in a week!!! So, thank you so much! XOXO
I do not stitch in hand anymore, I did for more years than I can count! 30 something but I noticed my stitches weren’t as nice now as before so as with age and RHA all things change! I use Morgan hoops and Nurge hoops and I love them ! I have quite a few actually! Mainly because I watch you and have more wips now than I can say grace over! Love all you do girl! I’m getting ready to start Hive Rules and Lindsey’s other bee charts this weekend when I have a day off! I would love 1,2,3,4,5 Blessings❤
1,3,5 fun things. I used to stitch with a hoop. I was away from cross stitch for about 20 years, when I came back I decided to do nothing but stitch in hand.
Years ago I started in a hoop but didn't care for the marks it left on the fabric, so switched to in hand and never went back! Loved all your Valentine stitching, look forward to the finishes! 💖 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
When I started I used a ring snap but it left marks. When I rejoined cross stitch I started with the ring and then the Q Snap. Now I use nothing and stitch in hand. I’d love 1,2,3,4,5. Thank you so much! I love your background so much, it’s so beautiful.
When I first learned to stitch, years ago I stitched in a hoop. When I re-discovered stitching through Flosstube, I started stitching in hand and still do. 1 2 3 5
I am 100% a hoop, but I actually use a Q-Snap. When I started cross stitching so very long ago, a hoop was all that was available. Then I progressed up to a scroll frame, and used that until I stopped stitching when I had my daughter. When I picked it back up recently, I tried the Q-Snap, and wondered where that had been!! I tried stitching in hand, but just couldn't get the hang of it, and I blame that on me being left handed - LOL. Can't wait to see your Hive Rules finish, as I finished that same piece late last year but haven't figured out what to do with it. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
I do have a hoop, but for my smaller projects, which is what I stitch most often, I usually just pick my project up and stitch by hand. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Thank you for all the great videos.
I totally use a hoop. I just found the Nurge hoops and love them. I have tried stitching in hand to teach myself the sewing method, but it just was not comfortable for me . . . so it's the hoop for me! Thanks for the opportunity, 1, 2, 3, 4,5. Have a great day. Many blessings to you and your family.
I stopped and followed so many new hash tags this week! Thanks for all of the great information! No hoop for me, thank you for that😊as well, best thing ever! Have a super week Nichol. 2,3,4,5
You’re an enabler! I haven’t cross-stitched in 50+ years and saw the “Do everything With Love” freebie and went down the rabbit hole. I am buying Lugana and Colorworks floss because I have never tried them. I used to use a hoop but will try this project without. 2
I mostly stitch with a hoop. However, l do stitch in hand when working on a small projects. I have a wooden hoop that l use that was purchased years and years ago. Brand is unknown. I am interested in numbers 1 and 2. Always enjoy your flosstubes. Thank you for taking the time to make and post them. I know it’s a lot of work for you.
Hi Nichol! I’m a beginner and I was taught to stitch with a hoop. I would eventually would like to be able to stitch free hand one day. 😊 I love your floss tube videos. I started scrapbooking over 20 yrs ago, then card making, now trying to venture into cross stitching. 😁 I am interested in 1,2,3, and 5. Thank you, have a wonderful day! 😊
My first time seeing your flosstube. I. Am. Hooked. Thank you! I usually stitch in a hoop, but also have a q-snap. I just got the square hoops and love them. 1 2 3 4 5
I used to use a hoop because that’s how I learned to stitch. I don’t use a hoop anymore as I have learned to stitch in hand. I love stitching in hand now! 😊 1 2 3 4 5
Thanks for all the info on the SALs. It was so helpful! I am a hoop stitcher. I have been stitching for a LONG time, (and I also have to use a computer constantly at work) so I am careful about my hands getting tired when I stitch. I found that holding the bunched up fabric hurts my left hand. So I have a way of stitching in hand but in the hoop. I also used a floor stand for years (I actually wore it out!) so I often hold the hoop against me so that I can stitch with one hand on top of the hoop and one on the bottom. Weird, I know, but you could do that with a floor stand. (I used to call it double fisting, lol). #1, #2, Thanks again!
Q: i love watching your videos. It was great to also see what you are sewing/quilting on. The first few Flosstubes included quilting too. Have you not been sewing these last few months? I miss seeing your quilting too! Don't get me wrong.....l love watching ALL your videos. It fun to see what you're doing all around, cards, floss and quilting. Hope you have a wonderful week!! I'm excited to see next weeks FFOs!!
I haven’t stitched in awhile but you are giving me an itch to start again. I used a hoop in the past from JoAnns. I was just thinking today how it would be to stitch without a hoop before this question came up. Thanks so much for all the wonderful content. 1 2 5 Happy Crafting. Hugs ❤
I have used q snap, but my latest obsession is the Nurge rectangle hoop. I saw the Sweetwater stitcher talk about it so I had to try it out and I love it. I even got some more for Christmas. I like them because you can get your fabric taunt and I like the rectangular shape, light weight, and easy to hold on with your hand. I usually stitch in linen and our great with it. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Happy stitching!
Years ago, I stitched with a plastic or wooden hoop. I am starting to cross stitch again and recently purchased a Q-snap but haven't used it yet. Would like to try stitching in hand on a small project to see if I like it. I enjoy your Flosstubes...so inspiring!!! 1 2 3 4 5
I do use a hoop... all old and various sizes, but my favorite ones are the ones where the inside piece is metal and you pinch it to insert the fabric. I don't know what they are called, but I find it easier to insert the fabric and get a tight hold. I've tried stitching in hand, but I have strength issues with my hand, and I find it tires out my hands too quickly. Gosh I wish I could participate in so many SALs at once, too much pressure for me, but you go girl! 1 2 3 4 5
As a beginner stitcher I have been stitching in hand, I have been considering trying one of the Nurge brand hoops from FQS though. I really enjoy your Floss Tube, and all the Valentines stitches are so pretty. It seems there were a lot of freebies too, thanks so much for sharing. I am really interested in Spring, bunnies, chickens, and blooms. I hope that if you see freebies for Spring you will share too. 1 2
When I first started stitching in 2019, I used a Qsnap but my hand was cramping holding it, so I switched to in hand stitching but felt my stitches did not lay well. So now I use either a Morgan or Nurge hoop (both at Fat Quarter Shop), and I’m much happier. 1,3,4 or 5.
I stitch in hand and like it sooo much more than when I used a hoop. I’m so excited about the 141 retreat. Hoping to get to one and I love watching her. 1, 3, 4, 5
I was taught with a hoop, but have been doing in hand since starting to cross stitch again... love all the inspiration from your flosstube! 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Thank you for another great flosstube. You are very positive and encouraging. I appreciate your organization and your time stamps, very helpful. I stitch on hand for smalls and a qsnap for larger projects. I would love 2,3,4,and 5. Have a great week, happy stitching.
I am just starting out and plan on stitching in hand. I have purchased a few hoops of different sizes as well to try. I am all caught up on your floss tube videos now. My daughter (13) and I love watching your card making and stamping videos. You are so talented. We love the card making and stitching communities 1,2
I used to stitch in a hoop years ago (I didn’t know there was any other way!) After coming back to stitching about 8 months ago, I learned about stitching in hand and the sewing method. Gave it a try and now that is my go to way of stitching. I have heard people do the sewing method in a hoop but I have not mastered that as of yet! Thanks for another great video! 2, 3, 4
I began stitching in the 80’s and still prefer a hoop. I love the tightness it gives the cloth. 2 looks like just the project for me after seeing yr progress
I really enjoyed your floss tube today, love all the well organized material behind you. I stitch in hand, a hoop gets in my way. I really like 1,2,3,4 and 5 today.
I used to stitch in hand but now use a hoop. I mostly use the spring tension Frank Edmunds hoops but also use the Nurge hoops. The spring tension hoops don't keep the fabric taut for long periods but are great for short stitch times and are quick to put on and take off. The Nurge hoops keep the fabric nice and taut while stitching and I use those when I have more time to stitch. I also use a magnetic cloth bittie (from FQS) and roll up the right side of the fabric to keep it out of the way. Interested in 2. Thanks for another great video!
Hey Nichol! I watch all your videos and want to tell you how inspirational you are! Thank you so much for all you do! I stitch both in hand and with hoops. I do find my stitches are so much neater when I use my q-snaps! I have other hoops as well including the nurge one. I like the thinner hoops because they are easier to hold but I like to use a magnifier that clips on and it seems to stay on better on the q-snap because it’s thicker. Hope that makes any sense, lol! I’m interested in 2, 3, 4, 5. Thank you for the opportunity!
1. 5. I use hoops! I like Morgan hoops and q snaps. When I needlepoint I use stretcher bars. Thank you for sharing! Can’t wait to see your fully finishes. Happy Stitching!
Well when l first stitched years ago I did use a hoop, the cheap ones. But I just started again after watching one of your videos and hearing how you Stitch I decided to sure it a try and I love At. So now no hoop! L am going to attempt my first full coverage project here soon and can't wait. I bought a few full coverage patterns this weekend and will be setting the stuff and getting everything ready to start after my knee replacement. wait. Thank you for the chance. 2,3,4,5
Fun floss tube this week. I have used everything. Wooden dowel scroll, snap frame and hand but my go to is usually a spring hoop. I can the take it out when I put it away. My pick is 2.
3 4 5 I stitch in hand now. When I first started embroidery and crewel as a teen, I needed that hoop! But coming back to stitching in 2020, I went right to stitching in hand and haven't looked back. I like my projects being portable and not being tied to a frame or hoop.
I can't live without my hoop! I've tried other methods but still keep coming back to my good old hoop! 1 and 2. Great video, as usual🥰. I have all of my supplies collected for "More Chocolate Bunnies" - can't wait to join the SAL.
Spring SAL sounds marvelous 🙂 I stitch in a q-snap hoop for the tension. If the fabric is too stiff, I will try and wash it to see if it will loosen up. 1 2
I stitch in hand on smaller projects. If it is a large stitch, I use a hoop. I recently purchased Nurge hoops and I really like them. 1,3,4,5. Thank you always doing such good videos.
Hi Nichol, First I just want to say thank you. I did received my package. Love it! I am learning to stitch in hand. Mostly I stitch in hoop. I like to stitch in hand if fabric count isn't too high and I have long rows to do. It seems to go faster. Can't wait to see your finishes next week. 1 2 3 4 5

NOT a hoop! Total hand stitcher since I was 7 years old (50 years in April). 1,2,3,4,5. Stay warm next week and Happy Stitching!

I prefer a Q-snap frame because I feel my stitches lay and look better when my fabric is taut. Terrific video as always🙂 2,3,4,5

I’m a hoop stitcher. I like the spring tension and the Nurge hoops the best. I have a Q shap as well. 1, 2.
I do not use a hoop. 1 2 3 4 5 I am enjoying your videos. Thanks for sharing.
I usually stitch in hand my projects, but I occasionally use a Q-Snap or hoop. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
I used to use a hoop a long time ago. I now stitch in hand and like it much better. 1 2 3 4 5
But I just started again after watching one of your videos and hearing how you
Stitch I decided to sure it a try and I love At. So now no hoop! L am going to attempt my first full coverage project here soon and can't wait.
I bought a few full coverage patterns this weekend and will be setting the stuff and getting everything ready to start after my knee replacement. wait. Thank you for the chance.

I always stitch with a hoop. The tautness of the fabric makes your stitches lay so much nicer. I use the Nurge hoops. 2 3 4 5
I definitely use a hoop and am constantly tightening it cuz it’s just a cheapy 😊. Enjoy watching you. 2 and 5
Fun floss tube this week.
I stitch in hand. Every once in a while I try a hoop or a q-snap to see if I like them, I quickly am reminded that I like to stitch in hand. 2
I can't live without my hoop! I've tried other methods but still keep coming back to my good old hoop! 1 and 2. Great video, as usual🥰. I have all of my supplies collected for "More Chocolate Bunnies" - can't wait to join the SAL.
I never liked using a hoop...then I discovered Q-Snaps. LOVE those. But lately I have been stitching in hand. Go figure!! 2,3,4,5
I primarily stitch in hand but occasionally use a nurse hoop. 1,3,4,5.
I have switched to the snap hoop because of recent hand surgery, I really loved to stitch in hand. 2, 3, 4, 5
I do not use a hoop, I stitch in hand. Thanks for a great flosstube. 2, 3, 4, 5 Janine
Spring SAL sounds marvelous 🙂 I stitch in a q-snap hoop for the tension. If the fabric is too stiff, I will try and wash it to see if it will loosen up. 1 2
Thank you for the floss tube. I stitch with a Nurge hoop, I have used the Q snap and like those also. 1,2,3
Love watching you! Chantelle 141 is so fun. No hoop, but qsnaps are great!
1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Look forward to button tutorial, quilting and your finishes!
Thanks again, Nichol for another great video! I know a lot goes into providing these for us. 1 or 2
I forgot my answer to the hoop. I do use a hoop. It's metal and the fabric lays flat and so easily for the top of the hoop to fit perfectly into it.
I’m an in hand stitcher. Thanks for sharing your talents. 1,2,3,4,5
Usually stitch in hand, but sometimes use a hoop with softer fabrics. 3,4,5
I stitch in hand on smaller projects. If it is a large stitch, I use a hoop. I recently purchased Nurge hoops and I really like them. 1,3,4,5. Thank you always doing such good videos.
I stitch in hand.
1,2,3,4,5
Thank you for your videos. I really enjoy them.
Love your glasses. I use a QSnap for my hoop 95% of the time. Only occasionally I stitch it hand if it is a small project. 1, 3, 4, 5
I'm a new stitcher so I stitch in a hoop primarily. I do also like a Q snap. 1,2,5,
Hi Nichol, First I just want to say thank you. I did received my package. Love it! I am learning to stitch in hand. Mostly I stitch in hoop. I like to stitch in hand if fabric count isn't too high and I have long rows to do. It seems to go faster. Can't wait to see your finishes next week. 1 2 3 4 5
I usually use a spring tension hoop but also have a couple of nurse and Morgan hoops. 1, 2, 5
I usually like to stitch in hand. I do have a Q Snap that I use sometimes ☺️. #2, 3, 4, 5. Thanks for another nice video!
