Catelyn's "I couldn't love a motherless child" speech is one of the best monologues in genre TV for me, in terms of the actor's performance. Legend.
absolutely amazing!
Sansa : "Joffrey is a monster..."
Margeary: "Hmmm... I think I can work with that..."
I can Fix him lol
My take on Margery is that she's genuinely nice as long as it doesn't happen to get in the way of her ambition. She's not naturally cruel, and realizes you catch more flies with honey. Manipulitive, yes, but as long as you aren't an obstacle she's more than happy to play nice. She has genuine compassion, but she'll override that if you become a serious obstacle.
In the books Jamie is such a great swordsman that even with his hands bound and being in rough shape from being a prisoner Brianne is barely able to handle him.
Sansa wore her hair like Cersie in season one on purpose because she looked up to her and wanted to be queen too just like her. Good catch! You’re right, there are loads of details in this show.
Sansa starts to wear her hair like a southern girl
Yep and people wonder why Sansa is fairly disliked lol
"We don't get to choose who we love" is my favorite line from Jamie. I started to really like him. He all of a sudden seemed less of a total jerk, and more like just a partial one.
I love 2 episode videos!
Mrs October: “They’re not going to Dracarys me, they’re going to Dracarys you!” 😂💖
Woah she said it in the video at the seconds later from reading this comment. 😂❤
Great recall Mr October - you’re one of the few reactors I’ve seen recognize Ser Barristan Selmy right away! And Mrs October does an excellent job recognizing & remembering pretty much everything else.
Jaime is legitimately an extremely talented fighter and probably one of the best alive at this stage of his life. He'd probably be more than a match for any normal swordsman even handcuffed. Fortunately for Brienne, she isn't a normal swordsman, and Jaime is also probably fatigued from months of being a prisoner and traveling.
His muscles are probably atrophied from being chained in that cell.
In the books, Jamie was fed bread and water for a whole year. Maybe the occasional meat and fruit and wine to keep him healthy. Jamie was chained and he was using a one handed weapon with two hands (since his hand was chained). He had also not trained for a whole year.
Despite this, Jamie was so close to beating Brienne. Only after Jamie was unarmed, was Brienne able to overcome him (because she is bigger and stronger than a starved and weakened Jamie). Jamie manages to slash at Brienne’s thigh as well and Brienne losses a considerable amount of blood.
In Brienne’s PoV Chapter: “He was weak from imprisonment, and chained at the wrists. No knight in the Seven Kingdoms could have stood against him at his full strength, with no chains to hamper him. Jaime had done many wicked things, but the man could fight!“
This is so funny, you all were so nervous about the scale of plots and characters. Now you both casually list names and houses like its no Thang at all. I told you both you were right where you need to be. Now it' really gets good
In the books, Stannis literally smiles when he sees Davos - a once in a lifetime experience lmao. He turns and says, “So I see the seas have returned me my knight of the fish and onions. I have missed you ser. I am in need of good counsel. You have never given me less.”
One of Stannis’ other lords (not a character in the show) draws his dagger and accuses Davos of treason in the same scene. Stannis defends Davos and tells that Lord to gtfo out the room.
Stannis: “Draw up your knife Axel! And leave the room.”
Axel: “If it please, your grace -“
Stannis: “It would please me if you leave. Remove yourself from my presence!”
-
When Stannis announces Davos to be his hand, Davos is shocked much more than the show. He first tries to reject it. But Stannis insists because Davos is humble and honest and loyal.
Davos: “I am low born! The other lords will never obey me!”
Stannis: “then we will make new lords.”
18:50 in the show is once again a huge deviation from Stannis’ real character. And we book fans hate it to this day because it is an utter failure to depict Stannis. It’s just slaughter of what could have been among the greatest characters in TV history. All because the show writers have bias. Even all the PoV chapters in the book call Stannis “King”, nobody else.
In the books, there are two factions that are under Stannis. You have the Kings Men (Davos and others who did not convert to Lord of Light) and the Queens Men (who like the Queen - Stannis’ wife that is - converted to the Lord of light). Previously, a Queens Man was hand of the King. Davos is actually made Stannis’ hand in this exact scene in the books.
Stannis has some macabre humor in him too,
"who better to command the black cloaks than the man who once commanded the gold, sire?" "Any of you, I think. Even the cook."
“lord Celtigar could look at the contents of my chamber pot and call it admirable”
Renly : You'll be pleased to know she came to me a maid." Stannis : "In your bed she's like to die that way.".
"Only the one, Your Grace," volunteered the balding knight, him of the winged pig. "I'd leave t'other."
"How many eyes does a maester need to read a letter?" asked Stannis. "One should suffice, I'd think. I would not wish to leave you unable to fulfill your duties to your lord."
@@Laketwig yup Stannis is very funny actually lol.
Davos: “But I cannot read, nor write!”
Stannis: “Maester Pylos can read for you. As to writing, the last hand wrote the head off his shoulders.”
@@blaubeer8039 nope that is in the book
@@blaubeer8039 in the books, Davos is thrown into prison by the Queen’s Men after his plot to murder Melisandre was uncovered. The only reason he is living and breathing and wasn’t murdered by the Queen’s Men was because of Stannis.
@@blaubeer8039 stannis isn’t known to be someone to apologise lol. Also I don’t quite understand what this discussion is about lol.
The point is that this scene is way better in the books. Stannis doesn’t just appear emotionless and turn around and say, “ThOuGhT yOu wErE dEaD”
No matter what you think of Stannis, ofc this scene is better in the books. That was the point.
The scene with Catelyn and Talisa is one of my favourites, if not my most. It has such a unique binding narrative on the Starks’ arc. The acting is also amazing, hits the feels perfectly.
Es como la conversación de Jon con el maestro Aemon, son charlas que como el buen vino, mejora con las temporadas
Lady Olenna is hardly without power in King's Landing. She came with the Tyrell army, probably the biggest by this time. And her house is the one providing money and food for the city. The crown needs her more than she needs them and Tywin is there to control Joffrey.
"Is that why he's doing her like that? Because he's subconsciously ashamed of himself?" Good observation about Jaime for a first time viewer.
The scene where Cersei is leaving Tyrion's room and walks past Bronn is the only scene where they appear together. Lena Headey (Cersei) and Jerome Flynn (Bronn) were in a relationship that ended badly. It was rumored that they refused to be in the same room. Flynn in a later interview said it was overblown and that they were on good terms. But it remains the only scene they were visibly together, and if you watch, she doesn't even look his way.
There's really no reason for Cersei to look Bronn's way.
@@HuntingViolets yeah why would a queen look at a sellsword
It's also not the only scene they appear in together.
Plus, they never appear together except for this scene. 👀
@@joshhutton9534 Pray, do tell. I've watched the whole series several time with this scrutiny in mind, and that IS the only scene I could find. I think you're either telling porky pies, or you've had too many mushrooms.
Yes, Bran is short for Brandon. Ned Stark's brother, who was killed by the mad king, was named Brandon and there were several Brandons/Brans in the Stark line.
All named after Brandon the builder ...who built the wall , high tower, winterfell ECT
Yep Robb was named after king Robert, bran was named after uncle Brandon, and Jon was named after Jon Arryn
he didnt build the high tower. @@maxvickrey4357
Cats monologue about Jon snow always makes me tear up. Michelle fairly was robbed of any awards playing her. X
Ya I don’t think I’ve ever been so invested in a character as her performance of Cat
yall are keeping up with the names and lore better than anyone i’ve seen before
really ? lol bc we feel like we don’t know who some of these folks are but i’m glad it seems like we do!!
@@Craig121000Spoiler alert. What a complete dickhead move. You must be proud.
@Craig121000 you're a bit of a dick aren't you. Dark destroyer as your name, cringe!
@@Craig121000 Real-ly dude? never noticed
@@Craig121000I don't understand the logical reasoning behind retards like you, who do this. Delete this comment now, and I hope everyone else reports it.
Robb and his army arrived at Harrenhal (Not Winterfell) where Arya, Gendry, and Hot pie escaped earlier! Remember, Tywin left a Garrison with Gregor Clegane (The Mountain) in charge! Apparently, he killed the rest of the northern prisoners, and left before Robb got there!
In the books, all the Stark children except Sansa are wargs. Her direwolf died before she could bond with it.
Ya in the books it seems like the direwolfs activated their Powers but technically all the Starks and many other noble houses have the with powers in their bloodline but only certain people like the stark children have their powers activated by something and direwolfs are special and connected to the nature magic like the children of Forest and the old gods the people of the North believe in
my favorite parts of the books were the dreams that bran , Jon snow and Arya have because of their worg powers and the wolfs being able to Sense each other and see through the eyes of the other dire wolfs no matter how far they were from each other...
I think the dreams are something separate from warging. It’s the gift of ‘sight’. With the exception of Sansa and Arya (their wolves were gone as pups), the Stark children had both warging and the gift of sight.
i love that you guys are doing 2 episodes in this, i hope you continue to do 2 episodes each post! your guys GoT reactions are easily becoming my favorite! really hope you end up doing house of the dragon once you finish this as well.
yes we are ! absolutely have to
that cersei nose reference was for the book readers, tyrion doesnt have his nose in the books or its badly damaged
I WISH YOU BOTH GOOD FORTUNE IN THE WARS TO COME
I LOVE Margarey! She knows how to manipulate Joffrey in all the right ways! Lady Olenna is the GOAT! Everyone's favorite grandma! Can't stand how Shae treats Tyrion! He has enough stress to deal without her making it worse for him. Jojan is not a warg, but a greenseer, meaning he can see the future. They are bannermen of the Starks and come from a thin, swampy area of land called The Neck that separates the North and the Riverlands. Very interesting family lore.
ros is so protective of everyone she’s close to she gives such mama bear energy🥹
3x2 is a great episode in this episode there is a introduction of arguably the greatest villain of TV history
"You barkin' too much Hound!" 🤣
Lots of funny comments in this one! 🐉 📺 🐺 💓 🦁
“I got to get out of this park” killed me 😭😭
Sansa "I'm a bad liar". Remember this for the seasons to come. hehehe
”He looks like a Viking”
Well he is Scandinavian 💪🏼 🙂
And you gonna like him in this!
Ser Barriston was the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. Traditionally that position gives you a seat on the Small Council. At this time, Jorah has concern that Ser Barriston may have knowledge of him spying for King Robert and revealing that to Daenerys.
The time conundrum in ASOIAF: GRRM reminds us regularly in the books that time isn't exactly linear in books, that is to say we're not reading chapters of events as they happen sequentially, and so too in the show. Sometimes you're watching events are indeed sequential, sometimes they are both (or all) happening at the same time, and sometimes there are big time gaps between stories. It's up to the reader and the watcher to work out the time sequences between events. So, for example, it's been calculated by the fandom that it took Barristan Selmy between 12-18 months from the moment he stormed out of the Throne room to when he first saw Dany.
Fun fact - Mance Rayder is played by Rome's Julius Caesar actor Ciaran Hinds, another quite similar older tv series.
Don't let haters get you down. Mr October has some mighty fine discernment--far more than his years would suggest. He is rarely fooled by the "complexity" of a character or situation. He sees the heart of the situation and its moral implications when others are confused. Good job!
A lot of the stories that Old Nan told Bran are turning out to have some basis in fact. #JusticeForOldNan
‘Spiders, big as hounnnddss!’
Ice spiders*
she should be on the iron throne!
Pink lipstick slays Mrs October ❤
Im here for it!! Love your reactions!!
on theon, 'i hope that little janitor guy gets him out'... cute.... hahaha
Great reaction guys!!!
One thing that I would like to point out. Robb Stark did not goto Winterfell. It was Harrenhal, that Robb Stark arrived at, with his army. This is the same castle that King Joffrey rewarded Little Finger with, in season 2.
Harrenhal is the castle where Arya escaped from.
You are not the only ones, who were confused by this.
Margery is playing the game but is also has a good heart in regards to her helping the unfortunates. And grandma is awesome as you will see as the series goes on. I think Jamie deep down hates himself which is why he acts the way he does. I don't he cares if someone takes him out, his life hasn't gone as he thought it would. He could have taken Brianne if he wasn't a captive for months being malnourished and out of practice. In regards to Dany, one of my favorite episodes is the fourth one of this season, for reasons. 😉
26:43 in the books, Jorah didn't recognise Ser Barristan instantly, he told them his name is Arstan Whitebeard, and it was a big reveal later in the book that he is actually Ser Barristan
29:30 you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar 👍🏻👍🏻
To clarify: Ice creatures are White Walkers. When White walkers raise the dead, the dead men are called wytes.
Dany's necklace is from when she was married to Drogo and Khaleesi of the Dothraki
i love the lady Olenna and Diana Rigg is perfect in the role. Unfortunately she died the year after the last season
The issue with Rob's Camp is he made a vow marry one of Frey's daughters, and he didn't. Catelyn stark told Rob "Treat your oaths recklessly, and your people will do the same". Basically as a King he is a leader and represents what a king should be. Many under his command may question his authority and disobey him, because he didn't do so himself, and did what he wanted.
22:50 - Nah, Joffrey is all cap here. They were definitely in danger...that crowd was ripping off people's limbs and junk.
46:08 - Catlin's family (Tully) worships the 7, so it's new gods stuff. Ned and the Starks worship the old gods.
Jamie is just giving Brianne crap to put her on tilt, so he can hopefully create an opportunity to escape.
Oh wow, Season 3 already!!
Oh, a two-in-one. You guys are spoiling us. 🙂 Season three is wild - even compared to the first two season, so you're in for a treat.
Tyrion actually did get his nose cut off in the books.
Martin Kenzie was a British second unit director and Cinematographer who worked on movies as well as shows like Game Of Thrones. 😢
47:01 I love the speech her the emotion is so true and it’s really shows more to a character that has to have a constant stiff upper lip
I feel like I'm hunkered down with friends when I watch your reviews. It hits even better when it is a movie or show I love :')
bc you are! thanks for the kind words we appreciate you 😃
The actor who playes Jojen Reed is Thomas Brodie Sangster. He's a brilliant british actor who have a long list of movies he's been in since his childhood. He was the little cute boy in Love Actually, and he was actually 12 when he did that role. Lol. He was also in that tv show Nanny Mc Phee were he played a 10 year old boy, in real he was 15. Amongst a huge list of movies he's been in he also was the voice of Ferb, in Phineas and Ferb. He was also Newt in the Maze Runner Trilogy. He did his role in Game of Thrones 2013_2014, the same time they did the first two Maze Runner films. He was 23 when they started filming the first Maze Runner in 2013, and during that year he also played the 13 year old boy Jojen. He always played younger characters, hmmmm wonder why. Hehehe. And NO, he was not Peter Pan in Once Upon a Time, that was the actor Robbie Kay.
hey Once Upon a Time is a great show... the costumes!! evil queen's especially
Remember, Cat is from the south. In the south, 99,9% believe in the New Gods: the Faith of The Seven. The thing that Cat was doing was probably some ritualistic stuff from her faith, The Seven.
The castle that Robb and his army occupied at the beginning was Harrenhal
Vladimir Bolton😂 I'm not mad about it.
Jamie here seems like he's not that good of a Fighter but in the books Briene is shocked at how good he was and knows she probably can't beat him, Also jamie being recognised for going at a wedding is Hilarious, his cousin and now the old man recognised him because of that.
Double Barrel Banger to start Season 3 🥳🔥🍻 and welcome, Queen of Thorns 🥀🍷
The Red woman. She is basically a true believer. She is actually doing what she thinks her God wants her to do. One thing people sort of miss a little about Stannis. Stannis dosn't want to be king just because he wants to be king. He wants to be king also because the Red woman believes and has convinced him too, that he is the only one that can stop the White Walkers. So EVERYTHING the red woman does is not for personal gain. It's because she thinks her God is showing her how to save the world. And she believes Stannis is the man to do it.
If no one said before, the woman that plays Lady Marjorie, also played Ann Boleyn in the Tudors and she was in one of the Hunger Games movies. Marjorie is doing it for PR and she is good like that. In the books, she is only about 15.
Yaaaaaaaas thank you!!!! Love it when you drop these on my off days and giving two at once ❤❤❤❤❤
"Behind the scenes. This episode was dedicated to the memory of Martin Kenzie, a cinematographer and second-unit director who worked on "Blackwater" and "Valar Morghulis," who passed away at the age of 56 between Season 2 and Season 3." ~~~ Also he had previously worked on:. The Shining, Return of the Jedi, Aliens, The King's Speech and the TV series Rome (2005)
The line about "They said you lost your nose" is a nod to the books, where Tyrion actually DID lose his nose when he was attacked at the Battle of the Blackwater.
You can tell a true fan by how much they get down during the intro song
Lady Olenna of House Tyrell is played by Legend Diana Rigg who played Emma Peele in the British espionage show The Avengers. Not to be confused with Marvel's Avengers.
Daenerys is looking to buy The Unsullied in Astapor. The golden statue on top of the Pyramid is a Harpy. A Harpy in Greek Mythology had the face of a woman and the body of a large bird like unto a vulture. 😮
Let's go! Thanks for your content! You guys are great
Thanks for watching!
Yay. Thoros is here. Mr. Badass from the Siege of Pyke.
The scenes with Charles Dance and Peter Dinklage are just superb, a duel of highly talented actors. And what to say about Queen O. (Margaery's grandmother), the marvelous Diana Rigg? Every scene she's in is pure enjoyment. And Michelle Fairley performs one of the best monologues in GoT and probably the most moving one.
Ms October absolutely correct about the Sansa/Cersei hair similarities. Sansa even tho a prisoner learns a lot from Cersei and in a way admires and mimics her. Surprised you got that first watch
i love looking at hair lol and the costumes
I am enjoying watching Game of Thrones with you. I have never seen it before. Your reactions and comments are great.
YESSSSS my favourite reactors !! season 3 is such a wild ride, my second favourite season after season 4 (which is imo the best season of got) (you'll see...) but enjoy guys !!
❤️❤️❤️ you
Olenna is my Spirit Animal of this series
Woahhhhhh double header 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Can't wait for episode 4!
When the series first came out there was one scene I wanted to see brought to life and the show absolutely nailed it perfectly and it's just an ultimate badass moment.
Let’s goooooo I like double episodes and I love how u guys waste no time with the intros! 💯💯
There are so many great details in the costuming and with the sets and props, and I'm happier than hell that you guys catch that and appreciate it all.
Margeary is a kind soul, beautiful, smart, genuine in compassion and empathy, but can be manipulative, strategic and ruthless with a smile much like her grandmother who I love. Just dont mess with them and its all good. Grammys rule, lol. Thanx so much, Peace
how was he supposed to send the ravens? you had Sam out there gathering moose patty's for your fire
There are three popular songs in westeros. The Rains of Castamere, The Dornishman's Wife, and the Bear and the Maiden Fair.
Jenny of Oldstown
@@DukeJimbob only one person sings that song... And it wasn't in the books. It was written for the show...
@@havok6280 I have no clue just remember Pad singing it
@@havok6280Jenny of olds town was mentioned in the book the knight of the seven kingdoms a prequel book set before the main story
In fact in that book the first chapter starts off with the main character singing that song but changing the name from oldtown to whatever town he was from u believe
I swear that intro song hits harder every season. For the hype is truly real. Lol.
Thank you❤ Absolutely cannot wait for you guys to get into this
Ha, I secretly watched Once Upon a Time too 😂 pretty sure Jojen and Peter Pan were played by different actors though.
Secretly? That show was awesome you guys should not be ashamed of enjoying a good story...
Yes, Peter Pan in OUAT was played by Robbie Kay.
i LOVE 2 EPISODES, im a smoke a fat one rn and watch you guys :DDDD
I love Margery as a character. Incredibly beautiful, incredibly intelligent, incredibly ambitious, incredibly manipulative, yet incredibly kind at the same time. I just find her character to be one of the best in the show. Of course, it helps that she is played by my favourite actress of all time.
Re: The Brotherhood without Banners, they are the leftover forces Ned Stark sent out to capture the Mountain and bring him to justice from Season One. While they were out, both Ned and Robert died leaving them "without banners" so they formed their own.
Remember during the Lore, I told you to remember the name "Thoros of Myr". This scruff is him....he is important.
Yay more got videos !!! You guys are fast !
Are there any future plans to upload videos like this, in 1080p for youtube? 720p is a little bit low these days, but if its the best you can do, its still ok. :) Would be cool though if it was possible! Cheers!
we normally always do but this particular video wouldn’t be released by youtube in any other form so here we are
😂 Random Giant! Well, I see that as key to know they’re are in a very untouched far north. 1000s of years earlier Giants and Children of the Forest lived everywhere. So a few are still around
i like teh double feature, keep it up!
Honestly, the fight between Jaime and Brienne really shows how incredible of a fighter Jaime is. Incredibly exhausted, probably malnourished, cuffed, and muscle atrophy of many months, yet he still can decently face Brienne. His sense alone, even with subpar physical funcation, puts him far above most swordsmen in this world.
Good observations regarding wargs! Love your videos
The power struggle between ceseri and Margery for Joffrey is so interesting to see because I believe as much as Joffrey loves his mother he thinks he’s above her and if she does something to upset him he has the ability to turn on her. Cersei knows that she’s losing ground with him because he’s so intrigued with Margery and it gets under her skin , she’s lost control of Joffrey and can no longer make him or convince him to do what she wants. She made him into what he is and it’s her fault. Now she has Margery who is going to be the next queen and his playing Joffrey like a pro right infront of her.
Bro Chipper Jones is my favorite player of all time, had to say that cause I heard you say his name 😂
lol yeah I loved him too
to be honest, i dont think catlyn was wrong. she could of been cursed for cursing that child
She swore to the Gods and broke her oath.
I mean that I also agree that she feels cursed for doing that to jon. But for spoiler reasons i won't say why, though I believe it's an abandoned plot point of azura hai or however you spell it
I absolutely love that scene with Cat & Talisa.
Thoros of Myr was in this ep., its the guy who fought with the flaming sword during Ironborn rebellion.
"He has like barnacles on his forehead". LOL!
I think Cersei is so smug because with Tywin back Tyrion has lost all power
It is a fantasy show at the end of the day so there are magical and mythical beings just around
The actor who died was Ilan Payne, he was on Arya's list til his death.
