Ok so this exercise at 10:04 in the video legit fixed my problem in 10 min. I had had scoliosis for 6 months prior caused by muscle imbalances and tilted pelvis and 6 doctors couldn't help me but this exercise did it. It fixed me and my back is literally straight with no more pain. I can't even believe it but it's true. God bless all of you and I hope one day you won't have any back pain!

How often did you perform the exercises? And did it take 6mos to fully correct?

    • @mvb2683
      @mvb2683 5 месяцев назад +4

@@LCLadjev No, for months i was told to perform other exercises by PTs and doctors that did nothing to help me. Then I tried the test where Conor made the guy lift his legs in the air and found out I have vastly different ranges of motion in my legs and one was very heavily biased towards internal rotation in the hips while the other one was the opposite and was rotated externally. This lead me to believe I had a rotated/tilted/twisted pelvis and my spine wasn't the problem.
After a bit more research it made perfect sense why my spine had the curvature it did and after only a few MINUTES of doing this exercise mentioned in the video and a bit of postural awareness my back straightened out automatically. The next day I had no pain and my back was visibly much straighter. After only a few days everything was back to normal and I am now 99% pain free.
Even yesterday I went for a very long walk which I hadn't been able to do for months at this point. I just worked on evening out the internal/external rotation in my hips until I was able to do the leg lift test with pretty even ranges of motion and everything else followed by itself. I also try to be mindful of how I position my feet when I walk and to distribute my weight evenly in the correct places.

    • @mvb2683
      @mvb2683 5 месяцев назад +4

@@LCLadjev for context, I had levoconvex lumbar scoliosis as my pelvis was twisted internally on the right side and externally on the left. My range of motion on the right leg was very big and very limited on the left.
Most doctors here told me how scoliosis is something you are born with and you can't do anything about it and it will only get worse with time... an actual orthopedist told me my curvature originated in the middle of my spine just because it appeared that way visually. These people are legit stupid and have no idea what they are doing yet they're out there performing surgeries on people and then blame their patients when nothing gets better.
How was I able to correct everything in a few days by myself with a bit of reserch on the internet after I gave up on listening to doctors?? And they can't do anything even with years of medical education...

Conor, just wanted to say thank you. I’ve been battling with this issue for years. I was very active in college (7 years ago) until I tore my left hip labrum while running 100m intervals on the track. I had arthroscopic surgery after PT didn’t help. Since then, I’ve felt a lot of “muscle guarding” that I haven’t really been able to release, and my activity level has waxed and waned as I’d flare up with random issues (hip and shoulder pain, feeling twisted and uneven etc). I’ve tried all the pelvis correction exercises on RUclips, and have tried endlessly to regain functionality. I’d have to warm up for 30+ minutes before any kind of lower body training, and my warmups were still quite lengthy for upper body training due to the negative effects on my torso. I believe I worked myself into this mid stance tilt favoring my right side due to my injury. The way you explained that it’s not so much of a hip hike issue, but more of a stance issue was a total lightbulb moment. I can’t count the amount of times I’d stretch my obliques, try to activate my glutes, stretch this, strengthen that etc. a never ending wave of “corrective” exercises that didn’t do much of anything.
After going through these 4 exercises twice just today, I felt much more aligned, and my brain now seems to understand a different (the correct) way of movement that has been eluding me for years. I just sat down and stood up after eating lunch, and when I reached my left leg for the ground, I didn’t brace up and anteriorly “reach” my left hip for the floor like I usually subconsciously do. I struck the ground in a more neutral fashion. Might not be explaining that perfectly, but I can tell these exercises are a God send for me, seriously. Thank you for your work, Conor. You have an amazing mind for the human body and I’m super excited to ease my way back into training like I used to love doing.

@@CynthiaCaresse Doing very well. I don't do these exercises anymore. When I feel myself out of alignment, I can mentally correct it just by relaxing my left hip slightly and engaging my right slightly. I had been walking with this guarded feeling on my left side, like I couldn't get it to relax and extend properly while pushing off my left.
Also, if you have a similar issue, another thing that I found helpful for me was his breathing videos - specifically breathing in such a way without contracting the neck muscles. Loosening my neck tightness (just by mentally thinking about relaxing the neck and practicing proper breathing technique), which I thought was a byproduct of my hip misalignment, has had this synergetic effect on my hips. For example, when I relax my hips first, it's easier to relax my neck, and vice versa.
Overall I'm much less tense and my pain is down considerably. And when something feels off, I can mentally sense where I am in space without checking myself in a mirror, and think about activating or relaxing certain areas. Hope this update helps!

If you want to be able to help ppl you have to learn from other sources.
It is a joke, over 3 years spent on it, maybe 1 year would be required for the stuff that is really helpful - over 2 years wasted.

I learned how to treat and train ppl from very unconventional sources, a very experienced woman who does thai massage, my kickbox sensei, my yoga teacher and other ppl who i have met doing sports.
Also i taught myself by reading books and manuals about osteophaty, manual therapie...
Then i entered physio education and i have to say i did not pick anything up which could have improved the way i treat and train my patients/customers.
It was sad and brutal to listen to my "teachers" (some with 5/6 diplomas and titles) telling us absolute bullshit - for example how harmful and inefficient loaded stretching is - while i got my splits with exactly that method - of course none of my teachers had any basic skill in sports, none could do a split or a handstand, probably none of them can do 20 pullups.
If you just get that crap education and don't have any experience from sports and/or your own body, you are not able to solve any problem.

Dear Connor, thank you so much for the video, also the fact that you made it very clear where and what should be felt is also very helpful. I have found that with myself, the fact that the hips are asymmetrical is more prevalent when I am on a deep position on a squat (my left leg ist more adducted and down than my right leg).

I have been going to experts, legit and questionable alike, off and on for 25 years. No one ever taught me symmetry can go too far askew and you can't get back. I have been screwing my weight into my left arch all day, and just standing up from that, and it's the most incredible stretch in my left traps, upper left quarter of my body. I guess sometimes our body gets hurt, and we compensate the wrong way. Happened to me when I was young, maybe golf clubs and paper route bags messed my shoulders up? Then I dislocated my shoulder a lot... Now I finally feel I have found what I needed. Thanks for your help

I was born with my right side quarter inch shorter than my left. Also having Sway back, which I am learning that it all has to do with the weak hips, glutes, quads, hamstrings, ankles, feet, plantafacia, still no balance and coordination, and having Scloliosis, in which I have as a child growing up, Now learning from you this all plays a part in why my pelvic is out of lignment. ALL THIS TIME, WE JOKE SAYING" IT'S SWAY BACK," My Weaknesses of the muscles are due to dermatomyositis and Polymyositis. it didn't just happen over time or as I aged, it's been apart of me my whole entire life "RARE INFLAMMATORY AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE" like lupus, ALS and those who have MS. This is exactly my condition! Before I found this, I have been guessing what causes my asymmetrical gaiting where my torso curves more on the right side whenever I'm walking. And I have a big wild guess that the culprit is my hips because my legs' length is uneven and sometimes when I'm doing an exercise such as, Russian twist
I'm having a hard time to balance my sitting position cause my butt is rocking from side to side 🥲. Thank you for the video ❤

It is a great resource. But as someone putting the finishing touches to fixing my long term hip hike, I know what was required to fix mine. And it was brutal, gave me very long term pain, was complex and surprising and unpleasant things happened. However with the right tools, mindset, luck and perseverance it can be done. But stretching, excersises and breathing would never have done it for me. These days I'm running, dancing and my fitness app says my run is very symmetrical, unbelievably. But I know there is still a bit more adjustment required. Two years ago I could not stand or sit for more than five minutes and pain would follow soon after a short walk. That happened without any specific injury occurring. So yeah, fixing a severe hip hike is a brutal and risky process.

Good evening Connor. I've been doing the first set of novice exercises that you give and so far so good. I wanted to ask you about 2 different postures that seemed to activate the same hip muscle as the one that consists in elevating the leg and pushing that you show. These are:
    a) standing with parallel feet and opened and straight legs like doing a split, pushing the tilted side down, it seems to stretch my outter hip muscle
    b) lying down and with slightly opened legs, pushing the tilted side to the contrary foot (elevating the hip)
I hope you can understand this explanation

Conor, I recently did an xray that showed the my left hip is higher than my left, which is causing my pelvis to rotate to the right (would this be Left AIC pattern?) In turn this is causing constant foot, knee, and hip pain. I am a little confused by the exercises highlighted in the video. The exercises in the video seem to be for the opposite of what I have (raised right hip and hip rotated to the left), however I keep second guessing myself and do not want to do the wrong exercises :)
Some quick clarification would help me immensely and would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for dedicating the time to make quality content like this!

Slight leg length discrepancy went unnoticed for 45 years before any orthotics. Complained about back pain since mid 20s but doctors didn't listen, ever. Had to have hip replacement 6 years ago, this year neck then back surgeries. Lots of nerve damage and it's been a hard recovery. Pay attention if you may have leg length discrepancy, it's not getting attention in people.

Hi @conorharris ! First of all thankyou so, so much. I can see how you work is changing lives...
I spent the morning reading your article and trying out the "tests" and to no surprise the results were "mixed", the top right side of the chart points to right lateralized and the lower left clearly points to left lateralized. I've tried so, so many doctors, physiotherapists, miofascial work, osteopaths... It's been many years. And I guess because of this extra layer of complexity that forms a "double torsion", nothing works and many times it actually makes it much worse. My question is... What are the risks of " "resetting you" back to the right side" so "we can better then shift you left.". Could it make pain worse? And how many times should someone try the workouts before they realize they're on the right side and not making it worse? I hope this isn't an impossible question ☺️ thank you again, you're amazing. Inês

Hey Conor, quick question: Due to having lateral pelvic tilt, it affects the way that I sit, so is doing all the progressions in the article to fix it enough while at the same time sitting in a way that makes my lateral pelvic tilt even worse, I feel like it just un-does all the work. Do i need to be conscious about the way that I sit as well or just do the progressions? Great video by the way!

I have watched hundreds of PT videos over the years to address back pain and Scott and the Conor Harris videos are the most difficult to understand. It’s like he is deliberating making it as complicated as possible. The language he uses is not meant to inform but confuse. Surely there are easier ways to explain these concepts.

I have one leg 2” short from a compound fracture as a result of a motorcycle accident as a teen. I can only walk with 1 1/4” lift so I have been 3/4” short for almost 50 years. I just started having acute pain in the opposite shoulder, hip and knee that shoots down to my foot. My PT thinks it’s all about arthritis and meniscus tear in my knee (no images of the right knee). My right knee and mid leg is visibly curved in. I’m given PT exercises that cause more pain. I’m discouraged that my condition will deteriorate because I’m not taken seriously. I believe I could benefit greatly from correct exercises and this sounds like it’s on the right track for my issues. How can I tell if this would be helpful? If I’m following…I would do the opposite of your examples because my left leg is the one 2” shorter.
