    Incoming Sanson! Hoping for a cameo off the bench tomorrow. Looks a driving force and I think if he gets in the team he will be hard to force out, McGinn needs to up his game now, but it's great to have these players. Our centre midfield is looking strong, Luiz Sansone McGinn Grealish Barkley Nakamba and an up and coming Ramsey. Strongest I've seen at villa I think

    Sometimes when strikers go through a bad patch they "try too hard" at times and that doesn't help them. I think that was the case for Ollie too but now that he's back amongst the goals I think he'll relax and a slightly more casual (if that's the right word) approach in front of goal should bring its just rewards for him. UTV VTID

    • @vforvillan9502
      @vforvillan9502 3 года назад

      I don't think Watkins has been going through a bad patch. His general play and work rate have remained excellent, and I think his goal draught has been down to the kind of service that he's received. It's interesting to note that every league goal that Watkins has scored this season has been when Barkley is in the team. Watkins' lack of scoring has almost mirrored Barkley's absence. Watkins is a poacher, he needs the ball delivered to him accurately in the box, and maybe Barkley just changes our dynamic enough to afford Watkins that space?

    With how they managed to derail our season last time around with the 2 huge injuries to Heaton and Big Wes, I hope the lads don't have any hangovers from that when they walk out at Burnley,
    After coasting to victory over Newcastle they should be full of confidence heading into this one, and having recently played them, should be familiar with their style of play, know where we can get the better of them.
    I'd expect a tight contest as Burnley will be desperate for any points they can grab from their home games, having said that,we have the tendency to win 3-0 on the road this season, so hopefully Ollie can get in amongst the goals again and boost his tally, UTV!!!

    Morgan Sanson has a bit of versatility about him, but I imagine that he'll predominately be a replacement for Conor Hourihane rather than Ross Barkley.
    Further to that, I think we obviously need to permanently sign Ross Barkley and keep hold of Douglas Luiz.
    Neil Taylor will be out of contract in the summer, so we'll need another left-back
    It seems that Bjorn Engels isn't up to scratch at this level, so a centre back could well be on the list.
    Henri Lansbury is also out of contract this summer, so another attacking midfielder would be required.
    Also, depending on Wesley Moraes, we will need another centre-forward.
    Elmo is also out of contract this summer, but it seems that Frederic Guilbert would continue to provide cover for Matty Cash at right-back.
    All of that though, I imagine, if it happens, will have to wait until the summer.
    Villa should be aiming for a European spot this season (which would help immensely with summer signings). That's far higher than I imagined four months ago, but we are playing so well, and so consistently, why not?

    McGinn must be due a goal!

  • @CookieWithACat
    @CookieWithACat 3 года назад +1

    Nakamba is a great backup to have, excellent ball winner, but probably didn't make more than a 5 yard pass. We really missed the range of passing in having Dougie and McGinn in those roles. Also think Dougie has that gritty, arguably 'dirty' side, that you need against a physical side like Burnley.

    • @sebblackmore3697
      @sebblackmore3697 3 года назад +1

      I thought having Nakamba on the pitch holding actually brought Dougie into the game more because he had a little more freedom to step forward at times and carry the ball knowing he still had protection behind him in Marvelous.
      Marvelous was superb at picking up the loose balls and turnovers on the edge of our box, shifting it quick to somebody with a better sight of a forward pass. Dougie is very good at this too, but i prefer him setting the tempo for attacks switching it from flank to flank as his passing range and vision is better. Bargains that are bearing fruit.

    • @ac4087
      @ac4087 3 года назад +1

      I thought nakamba was excellent, but you are right mcginn is a different dynamic

    • @CookieWithACat
      @CookieWithACat 3 года назад +1

      @@sebblackmore3697 I think with Smith seeming to like having a No. 6 and No.8 in the centre, Luiz and McGinn are arguably the best at the club in each of those. I agree Luiz feels a little under utilised as a 6, with less opportunity to get forward, but as a deeper mid, still with an excellent eye for a pass, he can create chances such as the ball for Barkley for Ollie's first against Arsenal, that Nakamba doesn't seem to have the eye for, whilst keeping Ginnies unreal engine out on the pitch too. But don't get me wrong, Marvelous really impressed me on Saturday, I thunk everyone looked at the teamsheet and went, hmmm, but really proved a point, he's competing for the place!

    • @sebblackmore3697
      @sebblackmore3697 3 года назад

      @@CookieWithACat True bro, i agree with everything you say! I had faith in Marvelous because of previous big games last season, especially when McGinn was out, although they can be hard to remember between the bad fortune we had.
      Nakamba's eye for dangerous balls creeping through gaps and his ability to drop into the back 4, if one of our defenders is caught out up field is really useful and i noticed it a few times in the Newcastle game. If only all players were as prepared as him, after sitting out for long periods! The team is playing in a way where you really have to fight for a shirt now, which is great to see! UTV!!!

    Can the quality of Villa just smash a one-dimensional bunch of grafters for once? Really big ask??? I sure hope not. Outside of Pope's heroics vs LP they were absolutely predictable. Burnley need simply to "Park the BUS" at their own half as a strategy to frustrate AV knowing that AS will adopt an attacking formation in order to reach the top 4, and patiently wait for the opening to counter attack AV's goal in the late stage of the second half. Burnley's best game plan to start in the EPL is to "Park the Bus" strategy when playing strong opponents for that precious 1 point, while adopting a more adventurous attacking formation playing teams in the bottom 8 in the EPL.
