I also _love_ how they match the whole bottle to the polish color, like the level of effort for a drugstore polish is incredible
I'm so glad you are doing "cheaper" nail polish brands. I bought some of these polishes, and I was shocked at how good the formula was, for how cheap they were.
Yes they are so impressive for the price! And LA Colors makes some gorgeous holo jellies too!
I find LAC really hard to work with. They get really sticky/chalky on my nails really fast and I’m amazed how easily you were able to apply it on your nail!
OMFG, this color collection transported me right back to my mom's closet, ca 1975. She's wild about earth tone colors like these, because they look so smashing on her. I understand now why she bought SO MANY clothes and shoes at the time. I mean, it's rare to have your best colors be all the rage, and these boho colors were just that in the mid-70s.
I have actually picked up their diamond crush line on your recommendation! It's now some of my favorite polishes.

I love all that you have recommended that I have purchased. Yesterday I ordered several of Cirque Colors jellies! I can’t get enough of these polishes! I have a serious passion for jellies! Oh my poor wallet!🤪
I have always been a LA Colors fan. Where I live, I can get them for $2 a bottle which is such a great deal. Some colors I feel are much better than others as far as coverage, but I can get 5 bottles of LA Colors versus one bottle of OPI. Thank you for this video! I'll be picking up some of these : )
They really are such a great deal for the quality you get! But you're right, some are way better than others, there's definitely a bit of trial and error involved haha!
Considering the low price point these polishes are pretty good. I own several different colors that perform relatively well. I really like the colors presented today and plan to get the entire collection. There is a dollar store very near me that carries this brand. I use these colors in nail art! I am currently reading Angel Armies on Assignment by Pastor Tim Sheets.

I love LA Colors, I always enjoy when you swatch them. The "gel-like" tagline does annoy me a little, but I guess they do always have a really nice glossy shine haha. The bottles are cute and practical, the price is excellent, and the formula is really quite good for such an inexpensive brand!
Yeah I'll give them that - they're always intensely glossy like a gel haha!
The shade Moon would make for some really cool planet themed nail art!
I bought Fairy Wink with your HB Beauty Bar discount, and I was floored by how fabulous the polish is for such a tiny price. Monarch, Horizons, and Journey are calling to me now. And the best book I've read this year is The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah, an epic Dust Bowl-era novel.
Another "gel like" nail polish that's pretty affordable that I love is Essence The Gel nail polish. The base coat is in an opaque bottle so I would imagine it would also throw people off thinking it's a real gel polish. But I usually get like 5 or 6 days of wear out of the polishes
I still haven't tried Essence polish yet but I'm dying to!!
Thank you so much for always highlighting the difference between gel-like and gel polish because I don't usually wear gel so I am one of those people who would avoid a polish based on that labeling.

You can paint a lil swatch of the polish on its cap. (With a brush) to make it easier to tell what your looking for
This so weird but I've never thought about why a cheap nail polish is bad whether it's the brush or the nail polish. Because of the pricepoint I just throw it out. I appreciate your review about the quality of the nail polish and the brush. 💅🏿 😊 thanks

I love their polishes and the price but sometimes the brushes are slightly on the hard side and they pull polish off when I go for a second coat. Have you experienced that?
Yes definitely! I usually wait slightly longer than usual for each coat before moving onto the next to avoid that happening!!
Honestly…I have switched polishes to a bottle with a brush that works better for me! I hate huge brushes but LA Colors has some really great polishes 🤷♀️

@@marybeth1644 whatever random polish I finished recently lol. I think I’d just finished a Holo Taco top coat bottle. I also have an OPI bottle that I’m working on cleaning, they just take forever. They sell 5ml bottles on Amazon for not much money.
I've loved these for years! They're so good and with a good base and top coat, they perform with my higher end polishes. I really enjoy the nude shades I have!

"Wired" Is A DARK Navy Blue Shimmer.
And "Lime Life" Is A Sheer Light Neon Lime Green.
Ooh I have to try those colors, I love a deep navy AND a good lime green!
Thanks for the tip about gel polishes having opaque packaging! I have definitely been staring at the nail polish wall not thinking I could buy some "gel" named polishes before because I don't own a light.
I love LA Colors! Yes, the brushes can be a little wonky, but I don't mind with the price. I also love their color matched caps. 🙂 I just finished reading The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell. Her books are so fun to read!

I love these colors!!! I'm getting away from so many dark polishes. I like medium tones much better. Definitely looking at thst teal!
I don't mind doing three coats if they are easy. Anything else, nope, not gonna use it.

I mostly wear gels but I'll watch you swatch anything! The filming quality is perfect and just so soothing. I read Little Fires Everywhere then watched on Hulu. Loved it. Currently reading the Lunar Chronicles based on your recommendation (put in on my to read list) and I should have read sooner! Cinder got me hooked now on Scarlet. Different than my usual but really enjoying. Thanks! 😊

I love la colors nail polishes I always buy them including the gel like nail polishes I also love even more cause they are a sister brand to LA girl too which is available at target and I always buy their nail polishes too but I feel that la colors has more variety in their gel like color range which is sooo cool I’ve been nonstop collecting all the shades ever sense they came to my Walmart
Wildflowers is a really nice colour. I like Horizons too.

I have about 10 LA Colors polishes, all bought on your recommendation and videos. I think they're great! Sometimes I will trim the brushes' tips into a more rounded shape with some small scissors for a better fit around my cuticles (then I clean the scissors with acetone on a cotton round). These "gel" (haha) polishes really are soooper shiny, and I also enjoy the aesthetic of the cap matching the color in the bottle.

Some pretty colours! My favourite book this year is an old one - 'The Thursday Murder Club' by Richard Osman. So good. I need to read the sequel now 'The Man Who Died Twice'. If you like things British, you'll enjoy this.

Loving swatcher videos of the LA Colors formulas, they're one of my favorite brands. Living in a rural area my only shopping choices within a one hour drive are the dollar store or Walmart so LA Colors makes up a huge part of my collection.
And they're really such a great brand! I love their holo jellies especially!
It seems as though the teal, brown, and purple are the only ones I don't have duplicates for [some of which are from the same brand]. Oh well, I didn't intend to buy more nail polishes anytime soon. Still, I love how LA Colors takes risks with the palettes they come out with. Also, I unfortunately haven't read many books this year; I've been far too busy. Laurie Woolever's "Bourdain: The Definitive Oral Biography" is both heartbreaking and informative, however.

I use toothpicks as little bristle brushes when I get one that's all tangled looking. it gets them back in line with very little product waste
That first teal polish is the perfect color to represent succulents (i.e. cacti and other such plants). Very summer-y if you look at it that way. I feel like they did a very good color story. That top row could easily represent the summer in the West coast, while the bottom represents the summer on the East coast.
I definitely love the teal and the yellow 😍 they remind me a lot of the Orly spring collection they did last year. I’ll have to try this brand out, especially since they’re so cheap!
Thank you for answering my question, Kelli! I’ve been wanted to read These Hollow Vows so you saying that you enjoyed it makes me want to read it even more! I think the book I enjoyed the most this year (so far) is Where The Crawdads Sing. I’m not usually one to stray from fantasy, but I got a little burnt out on it so I decided to check it out. I personally enjoyed it. I have the movie on my watch list for when it’s released on streaming, hopefully they do it justice 😄

I hate the brush, but the formulas are usually really good. I get a kick to get several different colors for really cheap. Also these are fun bases for glitter toppers or art.
that is what I immediately thought too- you can put toppers over them and get a fancy effect for not much money. Since I almost never wear plain cremes by themselves, I don't want to spend a lot on cremes. I put more budget towards special & fancy toppers.
This collection is stunning. 😍 I know I have a cuccio teal that is similar but it's less than $3 so why not right? Lol These are the things I tell myself when I buy nail polish so I can feel okay with buying more and more.😂 Question, I have longer nails than you and of course I'm in love with rose quartz.. What other polish would you recommend?

Favorite books I'm reading now are actually an older that I was recommended because of my love for vampires and magic. They're called The Morganville Dairies.
yellow is also one of the most sheer colors for modeling paint. it also needs a ton of coats for good coverage, i think more so than white.
Such beautiful colors, especially Journey, Monarch, Horizons, Dreamcatcher Western Boots and Wildflowers. I’d love to pick up Dreamcatcher, Journey, Western Boots and Wildflowers.
FYI, keep a pair of tweezers for bad brushes. Pull out the frayed strand or strands of the messed up brush easily with the tweezer and voila! Problem nail polish brushes fixed. Like a few colors in this collection, but loved the Diamond one.

I'm currently re-reading the Black Witch Chronicles in anticipation for the 5th book coming out this month.
Magic and Romance enthralled in a fantasy world plagued by racism, and oppressive dangerous religions.
Mages, apothecaries, fae people, dryads, selkies and dragons.
It's definitely a series I recommend.

I'd love to see a wear test for different brands. Wearing a few different brands on your nails for a week and seeing how they go (obviously different fingers tend to chip more because of use). I find Picture Polish chips so easily whereas I Scream Nails is so long lasting

Do you ever read sci fi? It’s not high fantasy but This Is How You Lose The Time War is a really good, relatively short scifi love story. I think it’s kind of a slow start but it is one of my favorites. Spinning silver is also really good, I don’t know that I’d categorize it as a romance but it does have romance aspects. Unfortunately I don’t really read much romance so I can’t recommend much in that category 😅 I read For The Wolf and that’s also a good amount of romance but I didn’t like it as much as a lot of other people seem to, maybe you’d like that?

It’s my least favorite brush, but this brand has made some of my favorite polishes. (I only recently worked out that I can just pinch the bristles.) 🤦🏻♀️
I'd love to see you review the swedish brands Isadora and Makiash. They both have other products but let's talk about their polishes. 😇 I really think you'd like them. Isadora is one of the biggest makeup brands in sweden and is very popular. Makiash is relatively new on the market but their polishes blew me away. To me both brands are in the same league as OPI and Essie.
I really hope you're able to find them online. I've followed you for so many years, and I've wanted to see you try these polishes from the start. 🙌❤️

Oooooh, book recommendations! I'm a librarian and read a LOT, and YA fantasy is totally my jam - I highly recommend anything by Elizabeth Lim and Leigh Bardugo if you haven't already read their stuff! (I'll admit the Grisha trilogy is a little shaky - first book quality, but still a good story - but the Six of Crows duology is FANTASTIC!) I usually only buy books if I've gotten them from the library and loved them enough that I'd definitely read them again, but these two are auto-buy authors for me.
I saw these at the store and they didn’t woo me in the bottle but seeing them swatched makes them much more appealing
They're always so unassuming in the bottle haha! But really they are so pretty.
I bought the entire collection from Dollar Tree for $1.25 each. I actually bought the collection twice because I forgot that I bought it the first time.😅

Yay, I really love your low price point reviews! I am a big fan of LA Colors. I have my eye on Dreamcatcher from this collection…I wonder if I could get away with doing a sort of crelly sandwich with it and some flakies :)

Return to Red Castle is an all-time favorite. Definitely not a fantasy, just a good fictional romance with some drama and mystery thrown in.
Dreamcatcher is my favorite.

I’ve never tried this brand so thanks for the review! I don’t usually like high fantasy either. I think it has something to do with how detailed the world building is so there’s not a lot of room for imagination. The closest I’ve gotten is the Kushiel’s Legacy series by Jacqueline Carey. It’s got elements of fantasy, romance, political intrigue, and an interesting religious belief system. There’s definitely some steamy scenes but a lot less than the description would lead you to believe. You should also check out The Myst Reader (3 novels) by writer David Wingrove with Rand and Robyn Miller. It’s based on the old computer game from the late 90s(?). I’ve never played the game but I love the books.
Maybe try Urban Fantasy instead of High Fantasy? The Alex Verus series by Benedict Jacka is fun.

Recently bought one on impulse; color name Spontaneous. Been eyeing some expensive toppers, so knowing these are good affordable base colors is awesome.
Honestly I think pairing an inexpensive polish like this with a more expensive brand top coat makes them last SO much longer!
idk if you're looking for video ideas, but compilation videos are really popular and you have a lovely voice ♥ I would personally love to see some hour or two long compilations of like 'ALL OPI POLISHES IVE REVIEWED 2022` or whatever ♥

Love these. I usually get LA Colors for water marbling practice. Also makes a great background for a cheap black. I haven't read any books except those for my graduate class to get an endorsement for my teaching license.

I totally understand your complaint about the misuse of "gel" by nail polish companies. I'm not polish historian, but I feel like the brand that got that ball rolling was Sally Hansen. It definitely leaves me with a bad impression of them, especially in combination with the fact that they were compensating influencers for telling everyone how "long lasting" this new line was.
Have you noticed that the la colors that are at dollar tree and have all black caps with a sticker with the color number are lower quality than the regular ones with the colored caps?
