I am from India 🇮🇳 and Indian society is a patriarchal society. I didn't knew that women in USA are also dealing with such societal pressures and challenges. It's great to see women are discussing about these difficulties in West as well as in India. This video is really an eye-opener for me. Keep going Marie 👍

As an Indian, we have twice the problem as the Americans - a rogue Patriarchy and a rogue Matriarchy secretly shaking hands over the sanity and welfare of their descendants.
I speak as someone who only woke up to this in my mid-forties... After a lifetime of pushing back against both.

Elise is such a beautiful woman inside and out. I loved this conversation which has given me so much to think about. As a health coach primarily for women in peri-menopause and menopause, one of the most important aspects I focus on is teaching them to reclaim their power and love themselves more.

This was a HIGHLY impactful conversation for me. The level of awareness it has brought about for me is AMAZING! …I am in a corporate setting in my day job and it is VERY much a boys club and heavily male dominated industry I see men somehow fail upwards and the women including myself all the things I need to do in order to be qualified for leadership and 2024 i had a light bulb moment that I have nothing else to prove and the stats in this show and this conversation confirmed it for me. Thank you 😊… I feel like women are having a moment right now and for once it’s not the moment that we’re being TOLD to have .., I think we’re starting to get at a deep level just how much we have been lied to about ourselves. Thanks Marie for bringing this to light.

Wow! ❤ this topic is so needed! I wish more women supported each other. Also the "the good girl" syndrome is so toxic, yet most women still try to be the good girls and envy others who are brave enough to step outside the box. But also the expectations from men is still that women should not be as powerful but instead stay small. I also feel this from men and from women as well since i started my own small business that they cannot accept this whole image of me "being the entrepreneur" or businesswoman. They still think that it would be better if i worked at an office job. It's tough. You are your own biggest cheerleader in life.

    • @TeamForleo

Beautifully articulated. And you're so right - it can be really hard to shed those expectations in any role we choose, especially that of an entrepreneur or anything in a male-dominated field. We appreciate your perspective and you sharing with us 💖 Sending you tons of love and support!

Let's start with I'm blown away by this conversation, as so many of your discussions Marie! There's so much to unpack. I'm going to rewatch it and do some journaling. As a woman born in 1960, the subject of conditioning around "being happy with whatever you get in life" literally struck at my heart. I've done a lot of healing and personal development over decades but there's always more to reflect on, release, heal and Reprogram. Thank you both for this deep, thoughtful and important conversation especially right now when in the U.S. Women's Freedom and Rights are being weaponized and threatened by politics!💙🌊💯

I loved this episode. I'm getting the book but.... Since I am a singer and vocal coach that had problems with straining my voice and part of it was how I was speaking I ask both Marie and Elise to listen to where they're speaking. So much of it is "in the gutter." A term I use for women to stop speaking so low that it is just guttural. An example was the beginning piece by Elise. Again I loved the content and need to read this book asap. Just want both wonderful women to check this out.

Same here. I’m getting the book & I’m hooked! Being a southern person, I like everything fried but my hair & the voice. Oh my, the creaky voice among some of my favorite female & male podcasters seems popular these days that I almost have to up the dose of my ADHD meds to fully reap the benefits of their vitalizing content even more than I already do. Don’t mind me. Keep that restorative content coming.

I have looked back at a chap I follow, and noticed that ALL his guests and videos are MEN! And I didn't even consider that!
I have been reading a book related to religion - Alan Wilson / Baram Blackett, and it's related to Jesus as a real person, and there is historical evidences that he had a wife and child. All of that history is hidden by C.C. going back to 400's as touched on by Elise.

👩‍⚖Women bring ourselves down by putting down the achievements of other women. And this was my WORLD as a top hornist, a female brass player in a world in which we're supposed to be humble and perfect but not powerful. And I saw so much catty, ugly behavior from women in this field. I was sensitive, and I reacted. In fact, I left the field.
As a composer, I've been world renowned and yet invisible - and all female composers have been invisible! We all think there's no one else. Silly! There are as many female composers as male composers! We remain behind a shroud. 🙄
