    I use the slicer for lettuce to get long shredded looking lettuce, the shredder just makes a mess of it.

    Thank you for such a great review as you have helped me make up my mind to buy one. After wasting £20 on a hand shredder which arrived earlier this week it broke before I’d shredded two carrots! Having spinal problems and having dexterity problems chopping can now be a bit of a task so after spending all last night looking at various machines this looks spot on. Thanks again.

  • @Joani161
    @Joani161 4 года назад +7

    I think I would use a wedge of lettuce and use the slicer. I have a 40-year-old Cuisinart food processor and have never tried lettuce. I think the slicer may work better.

    • @NightTimeMommyReviews
      @NightTimeMommyReviews  4 года назад +7

      Hi Joan, I completely agree, a slicer would work better. The box showed cabbage, so I thought, hey lettuce is similar (I know, I know bad move) and it showed haha, but the machine is really nice for chopping, and especially shredding cheese.

    • @ltlewis445
      @ltlewis445 4 года назад +5

      @@NightTimeMommyReviews Yes, slicer disc, definitely. And, I never turn the processor ON until my food is in the shoot and I have the cup inserted and resting on top of the food... THEN turn on the processor. But, hey, my dad taught me back in the '80s on a WARING. It's a basic safety thing... never have an accessible opening where there is a fast rotating blade if avoidable. If you hold the pulse button down it will pulse itself. No need to let go of the button and then press again to get 4 or how-ever-many pulses... just hold. I know you weren't yet familiar with how fast you may arrive at your desired texture.

  • @kikigamble4315

    Hi. Nice first time demo. For soft things like lettuce, the chopper blade might have done a better job than disc blade. Cabbage shreds well with disc, so does carrots for sale n cake. When your putting in lose leaves of lettuce or cabbage (especially lettuce as it's flimsier), you can't just put a small piece of leaf, you have to put in enough so the blade will have enough bulk to slice. I didn't have this brand, but mind also use to get lettuce pieces stuck between the lid and the blades.

    I find this food processor to be quite frankly awful. For one reason, the bowl is too big for the blade. There are a ton of basic food processor recipes that it doesn't make - pesto for one. The blade doesn't reach the garlic and pine nuts to the level that is needed. It's an epic fail in that department.

    mi punto es, si ya tengo mi vaso y el motor, se puede adquirir por separado los discos rayadores y la tapa con mazo para empujar??
    lo he buscado mucho esa opcion y no veo ni encuentro la manera de comprarlo asi o que si sean de la misma medida.

    I'm all for automation and useful machines in the kitchen, but I don't see this as being helpful. You need to peel and quarter (and maybe decore) the onion anyway, you need to monitor it.. pulse pulse.. check it.. pulse... inspect again.. pulse.. then you need to scoop it out and potentially remove remaining chunks and then wash the machine out. If you're making a big meal for 10+ people with loads of things in it then yeah, maybe justified... but.. I will wait a few years until these machines justify themselves, and stick to sharp knives for now. I think it's faster (from end to end)

    • @nomad155
      @nomad155 3 года назад +1

      You're right on that. I think of it like this. It's great for prepping and not everyone can use a knife properlyso this is a good replacement. When showing friends how to cook this can help when shredding cheese and making cauliflower rice without gratingand hurting your hands. You can make salads a lot easier and I only go for the knife for more meditative moments. The processor is used for prepping bigger meals or I want a nice burger meat done right. There are things we can do with it hands that machines do better.
