One month ago on the 12 of November I was done trying to be pretty, it was so hard and I still got bullied. I had the pills in my hand. I wanted to listen to a song right before I took my life. I went on RUclips and this song popped up. I clicked on it and while I was writing my suicide note I really listened to the song. I crumpled up the note. I threw away the pills. This song saved a life. Thank you. I listen to this song every day to help me stay confident and to keep the bullying away. (:

Me too. 65 here, male. I like people because of who they are, not their appearance. I think that young girls these days (my young daughter, was blessed with her late in my life, seems to have listened to me on this, to an extent) think they know what men 'want', but they really don't. We aren't all monsters. We sure don't all like one 'type'.

I think it’s a great message for guys as well. Girls aren’t the only ones dealing with self worth. Lots of guys are dicks but we struggle and we go through problems I know for me I feel like I’m not good enough whenever my best friends end up leaving. I know now that I’m enough for the ones that do stay.
I heard this song for the first time tonight and it brought me to tears. I'm a father of a 12 year old boy that is going through a lot of "body" issues, for lack of a better word. This video/song is such an incredibly powerful voice to explain something I've been trying to convey for years.
U simply being there with him during that process and understanding everything or trying at least and support him its already enough, being a kid these days is a nightmare, its a crime how bad this world treats their kids, how hard their lives simply become soo hard in such a young age !!!

I will never forget the day I went into therapy one morning and my therapist showed me the song for the first time. I cried as I listened to it, as I took in it's message. Without any effort at all, I am beautiful as I am, and I shouldn't have to try and change any part of me for anyone else's approval. I should learn to love myself as I am. I've had so many therapists before this one in specific, and she was so helpful. She is a huge part of the reason why I am confident and I love myself the way I do now, and I will always be grateful for her. ❤

As a teenage female, I can relate to this statement. My parents always say “it not important, you can worry about your body appearance later”. But the thing is, I am starting to care about all the pimples, my cuts, my bruises, the list just goes on. I love the message to people (not just people who identify and female) can relate to.

I used to have social anxiety. What helped me was working in restaurants and coffee shops and just completely immersing yourself in social situations until you realize that there is nothing to be scared of. I’m still shy around new people though, but made huge strides. You can do it :)

I remember how much I loved Colbie when she first got national exposure. Admittedly, I'm not very well tuned into the music scene, so I missed this gem, but I'm so glad to have rediscovered her voice and songwriting. I think it's sad that so many people are missing the point. The message isn't that you shouldn't try at all in life. It's that you shouldn't try to be someone you're not, or feel the need to cover up and add fake things in order to feel like you're beautiful. If you ask a lot of women, they're going to tell you that they don't feel pretty without makeup, or hair extensions, or fancy clothing, or fake nails, or a plethora of other things that society deems necessary for a woman to be considered attractive. THAT is what this video is addressing. It's not saying "Don't exercise!", "Don't work hard in life!", or "Don't try to be the best person you can be!" It's saying "Love the skin you're in without needing all of the additives to make yourself feel pretty! You're beautiful as you are, and the only approval you should need to feel attractive, is your own!" The point is that women should love themselves naturally, and feel comfortable not having to put on a different face in order for the world to accept them.

Sunshine Cutie cheer up! I never tried to fit in when I was a teen.my parents can't afford things that weren't in trend and I never asked because I was grateful for what i had. I had acne and never wore makeup until 12th grade.didnt have a phone until 11th grade. Had one or two friends but never talked deeply or hung out with. People never really cared because they all had their social cliques. I was the odd one out. Didn't participate in anything, wasn't athletic, emo,smart, couldn't connect with anyone. Didn't care what anyone thought, didn't let my parents worry and I graduated and moving on to my college life just pursuing what I love because at the end of the day you love yourself! Yes I had insecurities, people looked at me poorly, always asked me are you okay. I always answered I was okay and deep down I wasnt. I didn't even try belonging into because I didn't wanna be fake. So it takes time too!take care of youself!♡

I can relate to this song so well... I recently changed friend groups a few weeks ago... I was constantly left out and judged for the way I was... they were all cheerleaders and they all had boyfriends... I was not a cheerleader and I do not have a boyfiends ( don't belive in dating in middle school)... I used to be over weight and got made fun for it... I knew I had to loose weight and I lost 30 pounds by eating healthier and exercising more... when school started this year again I was judge by my "friends"... they told me I was to skinny and I finally realized they were jealous that the boys would talk to me instead of them ... I was happy with myself and was much more active in sport ( I play softball and soccer) I was an overall better athelete... one day I coudnt take the bullying or drama any more... I switched friend groups an snow am in my happy place.. I can now talk to any one and my stress has gone down... I am no longer judged and am living life to the fullest... I wouldn't be who I am if I did not have friends who love me just the way I am❤😉

As a grown man, with two young daughters, and a beautiful wife, I think every single one of these women look so much more beautiful as themselves. I LOVE that my wife doesn't do tons of makeup and stuff. I've had girlfriends that did before, and now that I've been with my wife for 10+ years, I'm so glad she's not like that. I love her natural beauty and hair. Men need to stop wanting airbrushed, fake women, and recognize the Goddesses standing in front of them for what they are.

Every day when you get up and start getting ready for the day, look in the mirror, smile and tell yourself you are beautiful. At first it will seem weird and dumb, but if you keep telling yourself that after a while you will start believing it. Changing what you think you of you is not easy and it is not quick. I see people commenting on whether guys like girls with makeup or not...this isn't about what men like, this is about being confident with who you are and not hating your natural appearance. If men didn't want a physically ideal woman, then women wouldn't feel the need to value or compete amongst each other based on appearance.
It's the same for men, we want to be rich, drive a fancy car and be the king of the hill. We do it for each other, we just want to make the other sex happy while proving we are the best our gender has to offer.
Why else would people care about natural beauty?
Ethically it is the best beauty, of which some women want to use to distinguish themselves, they still want to be the best of the beautiful.
But sadly ethics can never trump the primal desires of our lizard brain. Men will still be attracted to red lips, flawless skin and whatever else indicates the chance for healthy offspring.
And women will still be attracted to the confident king of the hill who has adequate resources for raising a family.

Dave of course we all want to be attractive, but when everything you do is run by your desire to please the opposite sex than thats when there's a problem. Women have an issue where they hate their appearance, and when I say hate I mean HATE because they feel like they won't be loved without all the extra. That's an unhealthy state of mind. Women should be able to look at themselves in the mirror and truly love who God made them to be. I don't wear makeup even though many guys tell me I look really pretty with it. Sure that attention is nice, but I dont live for it. I dont wear it cuz I don't like it. Of course that means I take care of my skin and what not, but the decisions I take to make myself feel comfortable have nothing to do with what men want, cuz honestly I am not alive to please men. I'm happy with who I am, and I think this video is very powerful in a sense that it reaches out to girls that feel like they aren't good enough
