JÓHANNA GUÐRÚN - "Rain" (2021) - YOHANNA

Jóhanna Guðrún sings the rock song "Rain", which the popular Icelandic rock band Jet Black Joe released in 1992 as the 3rd track of their debut album "Jet Black Joe" and it's just plain great!
The fact that Jóhanna loves to sing rock music in addition to power ballads and rather calm songs is probably less known to many fans outside of Iceland. Personally, I love to listen to her doing such songs - and for very good reasons!
First, Jóhanna just can do it, she is world class in this genre as well. Secondly, Jóhanna can use her beauteous voice so variably that she always matches the style of any song exactly, regardless of whether she sings the classic "Ave María", a traditional country song like "Brósið", a demanding title like "Annað Lag" or a rock song like "Rain". Jóhanna is simply unbeatable on this point, a true vocal phenomenon and without a doubt Iceland's best female singer!
Third - rather irrelevant! - I'm perhaps the biggest, but certainly an incurable fan of Jóhanna Guðrún and I enjoy anyway every single note, every single tone that my favorite singer sings, no matter what genre...
"Rain" was written by Gunnar Bjarni Ragnarson (music) and Páll Rósinkranz (lyrics).
About Jet Black Joe:
Jet Black Joe is an Icelandic rock band that was formed originally in 1992. The members of the band are Páll Rósinkranz (vocals), Gunnar Bjarni Ragnarson (guitar), Starri Sigurðarson (bass), Hrafn Thoroddsen (keyboard) and Jón Örn Arnarson (drums).
The band immediately became very popular and gained a big fan base in Iceland. But Jet Black Joe was also very successful throughout Europe. They released until 1996 four albums, but after that, Páll Rósinkranz started his solo carrer and the band members went seperate ways.

In the summer of 2001, Gunnar Bjarni Ragnarsson and Páll Rósinkrans performed at the Eldborg Festival under the name Jet Black Joe. Subsequently, the band regained great popularity, both with old fans and a new generation who discovered the rock music of Jet Black Joe. The band continued to play publicly and subsequently released two albums: "Greatest Hits"(2002) and "Full Circle"(2006), which featured brand new songs.
