This amp has an awesome clean and gain channel. Sounds good at low volume and gets even better when you crank it . I have played 300 plus gigs with it and have never regretted buying it !
I just watched this demo again after 2 years ago and I must agree again, this gentleman explained this Amos functions and effect very simply and thoroughly ! Thank you sir, for a great demo of this Marshall Hade 40
it's not that much louder then a 100watt amp, there's only about a 3.5 decibel difference between a 40 and a 100watt amp, ALOT OF PEOPLE THINK A 100W AMP IS TWICE AS LOUD AS A 50W AMP, NOT TRUE! HERES HOW IT WORKS, EVERY TIME YOU DOUBLE THE POWER OF AN AMP YOU GO UP 3 DB, FOR EXAMPLE FROM 5 TO 10WATTS YOU GO UP 3DB, THEN FROM 10 TO 20 WATTS YOU GO UP ANOTHER 3DB, THEN FROM 20 TO 40 UP ANOTHER 3DB, THEN FROM 40 TO 80 ANOTHER 3DB AND SO ON AND SO FORTH, SO FROM A 5 WATT AMP TO A 120 WATT AMP THERE'S ONLY A 13.5 INCREASE IN DECIBELS, SO DONT THINK YOU HAVE TO GET AROUND 40 TO 50 WATTS TO GIG WITH, AS LONG AS YOUR NOT PLAYING WEMBLEY 10 TO 15 WATTS WILL DO IF YOU ONLY HAVE ONE 12 INCH SPEAKER, IF YOU HAVE AT LEAST A 2X12 OR A 4X12 10 WATTS IS FINE, IVE EVEN USED MY 5WATT BLACKSTAR HT5 METAL STACK WITH 2 1X12 SPEAKER CABS TO GIG IN BARS, ALSO IF YOU HAVE A LINE OUT TO RUN TO THE PA SYSTEM THEN YOU COULD USE A 1WATT AMP, VERY IMPORTANT TO NOTE, THIS ONLY APPLIES TO VALVE AMPS, IM NOT SURE HOW SOLID STATE AMPS WORK WHEN IT COMES TO FIGURING OUT HOW LOUD A 50W IS COMPARED TO A 100 WATT AMP, USUALLY VALVE AMPS ARE AT LEAST 2 TO 3 TIMES LOUDER THEN SOLID STAT AMPS, HOPE THIS HELPS PEOPLE FIGURE OUT HOW MANY WATTS THEY NEED, I SSID ALL THIS BECAUSE I'VE SEEN PEOPLE BUY 30 WATT AMPS THINKING IT'S WHAT THEY NEED TO HAVE A PRATICE AND GIGING AMP IN 1 THEN ITS TOO LOUD TO PLAY AT HOME AND THEY CAN'T TURN IT UP LOUD ENOUGH TO GET THE VALVES COOKING IN THEIR HOUSE BECAUSE IT'S TOO LOUD
I think you're confused..You are correct that on average a 100 watt amp is probably not producing much more volume than a 40 watt amp but I'm pretty sure it takes about 10X the power to increase loudness by +3dB.
ah roger that...excuse the autistisy...numbers and values are far more important to me than what you are actually saying...that said....i hear what you are saying
Iv got this amp, been using it for about 2 years now.. It's solid!! Only had to replace tubes but that comes with it being played through so often. The sounds are really great, so many different things you can do with it, the boosts are great, effects are brilliant and reverb is great with the clean sounds even at low levels.
Found a used one for 300 CAD Im very happy for the convenience and tone you get outta this little amp. Its not a Supro but its not a shitty peavy either. Best investment I did in long time.
i am really glad i went with the class 5 over this. i have played countless gigs with it and it even spent a night getting rained on (which made the speaker sounds better somehow maybe it broke in) and it has never never failed and is easy to repair if it ever does
Please do every demo ever! You play chords, and lead... and you talk about the amp and run it through all it's paces. Way better than those two british guys who just joke about the whole time. Awesome!
I just got this amp! Very nice clean sounds. I had a Marshall Valvestate VR30R for about 12 years, bought it when I was 18... I think the sound from the Haze 40 is what I wished the Valvestate could haven given me all along. I came to this from a Line 6 Spider 3 30watts and the clean tone just blows it out of the water! However, there is the dreadful popping when I switch channels. I'm still under warranty for another 8 months & will wait for my local distributor to restock on the Haze 40 & RMA!
I was trying to decide between this amp and the blackstar ht 40, but this demo really conviced me that the ht 40 is the one for my needs, i dont need built in fx i have pedals.
I bought one this Spring, but have had problems with it. It sounded good on low volume, but once you pass 4 on the volume knob it started making all kinds of noise to the point where I had to shut it off. Sooo, had one tube in the pre-amp replaced and it sounds fine now. Not much fun when you buy it new and it has problems from the start. So I would put a big questionmark as far as reliability.
A well thought-out amp for a gigging musician. Forty watts is more than enough for most situations. I played small concert halls with a 45-watt Fender Super Amp through two 2-12 very efficient EV cabinets, was plenty loud and I could really crank the amp without busting eardrums or drowning out the rest of the band. Definitely want the 4-way foot switch, though. Marshall strikes again - nice.
I love mine! Had to mod it a bit to my taste, put in a vintage 30 and opened up the back for better spreading and cooling (it started to heat up too much in my taste) And now i love it! I do not use the effects though, only the gain channel with gain just to give it an edge for clean and a good drive..Sounds even better that some mesa's and plexi's i had. But he, we are guitarists..alway's searching for that sound right?
this is a great amp! i've been using it for a year ! and the only problem i've ever had with it was the fuse, which blew :P but other than that ! it's a fantastic amp with new sound ! much recommended! :D
Yes, probably loud enough for a talent show or small pub gig but in a two guitar band or gigging without miking the amp it isnt loud enough. But smaller watt tube amps are the most fun cause you can crank em all the way up and really hear the tubes , nothing can match that cranked marshall sound!
I'll run mine with 4x12 slant cab .also in a two guitar band plenty loud enough.. hmmmm... Well I also play on clean channel with boost and crank it to like almost 8 .. nice AC/DC plexi sound.
im not a marshall fan usually but this sounds pretty nice, good crunch to it. p.s i like that he can play very well but isnt constantly playing the 'showy' stuff.
I got 1 of these I ordered a Marshall JMP 212 CAB got 2 marquee speaker BROKE IN running 16 ohm kicks MEGA ass people putting the speakers down WOW get them broke in sounds AWESOME
@fretboarder Hell no, but the dsl is way more expencive. I have a moddet 401 ( bethere tubes and vintage30 speaker ) and it sound as good as any marshall amp. I do have an old 401 so i hade to build a new amp cab to make sure it dose not overheat. New 401s dont over heat anymore ^^.
No headroom on clean channel! Super crunchy by 4-5? And dark, muddy.... Not to sure about this one, though it seemed like convenient, portable package with a few effects on-board.
HarveyCan 58 this amp has plenty of clean headroom, really, even at high volumes. You should check that the gain of the overdrive channel is in 0 while you play in the clean channel. Otherwise it will get dirty
@wunwinglo Just bought one today. Got rid of my harsh sounding Bogner Alchemist! I mainly play through a Fender Vibrolux, and this amp will be nice A/B compliment. After messing around for a few hours I noticed it takes OD pedals really well. Especially the OCD and Zendrive! I'm thinking of just using the clean channel (no boost) and using od's. It sounds amazing! The cleans are surprisingly warm and fender like. In short, put the right od pedal in front and it comes alive.
@wedge070 I totally agree with you. I own a Bogner Alchemist and they did the same thing. So many cheap bells and whistles. I would prefer just a straight up amp...let me decide what to put in front of it (if anything),
I did say the new MGCFX range... which is a massive improvement on the MGDFX which you mention. You don't like that range... have you used the new CFX ones? They're not crap in the slightest but up to a good Marshall standard keeping in mind the price you're paying. Excellent value for money.
would this be loud enough to play without mixing up at live shows in bars etc for example over a loud drum kit ? vie never owned a valve so im not sure
So is there an difference between a stack and a combo other than the " cabinets and heads " difference ,like is there any difference in tone or anything at all? I'm just curious and would like to know.
No, it's not possible. Only reverb can be used with other effects. You can't combine vibe and chours or delay. Sorry about my english. Greettings from Poland :)
So does this amp just pretty much not have any headroom in the clean channel at all. I'd like for my clean channel to be heard cleanly over the drums without breakup. So it's not an overly saturated overdrive amp, could this be boosted with a tube screamer? Does it take pedals well? I play some heavy stuff but I do want some of that clean tube sound
@@wasserhahn903 thanks for the input, I ended up picking up a fender champ for now. I may have to run two amps later on, maybe a messa for rock and metal and just some vintage fender for clean and fuzzy
I had a JCM2000 half-stack, and you still couldn't get a decent clean sound in a medium-sized room without miking it. So: mike it. Actually, best loud clean sound I had was from a Soldano combo..
@tauheke hey i just got a boss rc 3 for my marshall haze 40 and when i plug it in to the regular input and try looping the stuff i play makes the loop pause and it only works when i plug it into the back but then i can't use the distortion or volume controls? could you help me?
well is price a problem? cause this is a combo and the tiny terror is just a head so u wud need a cab. The tiny terror will do your fat clean but the tiny terror is more for the gain i think and this is a bit more versatile because you have two very good distinctive clean tones right the way through too gainy metal ect...
This amp has an awesome clean and gain channel. Sounds good at low volume and gets even better when you crank it . I have played 300 plus gigs with it and have never regretted buying it !
I know this demo is old but this really is THE BEST DEMO OF THIS GREAT LITTLE AMP!
Exactly 💯
I just watched this demo again after 2 years ago and I must agree again, this gentleman explained this Amos functions and effect very simply and thoroughly ! Thank you sir, for a great demo of this Marshall Hade 40
I've got this amp last week, and the result is that I've started playing my guitar as if I've been playing all my life. It is amazing.
Really useful demo. Very clear, simple and no BS. Thank you. Well done.
I did get one and I am quite impressed by the volume and the way the Haze react with a Strat on the clean channel. It's a keeper !

Nice Demo, very thorough.
@chriskeefe1987 yes it would! MARSHALL HAZE 40 IS A PUNK MACHINE!
I think the actual question is about the delay and stuff, its much easier to add a pedal for that in the fx loop....

I'm on my second one. Good demo.
So actually its a 212 MARSHALL HAZE DAMN GOOD TOO the sound is amazing so AMAZING 2 MARQUEE.
Oh yeah - great demo, thanks
@hazthefool Very much so, a 40 watt Valve amp will absolutely smoke a 75 watt solid state. This will be more than enough! :)

I LOVE MY HAZE !!!!!!!!!
this is way better man. but much more expensive. this is a valve amp and the mini stack is solid state.
pretty good amp! i have it myself. what guitar is that?!
@GHGuitar123 When I bought it, it had a channel pedal that changes OD/Normal to Effect
this is sick!, what do people think about changing the tubes in this, could i put some kt66s/88s to get a more early plexi/ hendrix sound?
Yep . I did. Just like plexi ..mark 2...clean chimey
No, it's not possible. Only reverb can be used with other effects. You can't combine vibe and chours or delay. Sorry about my english. Greettings from Poland :)
Wow, you get an almost distortion-like sound without and distortion effect. That's something I'm not used to...is that because I don't use a tube amp?
when you add an extention cab & speaker, does the combo's speaker also stay on ??
No.
So does this amp just pretty much not have any headroom in the clean channel at all. I'd like for my clean channel to be heard cleanly over the drums without breakup. Don't get me wrong that's a beautiful tone, but I like my clean channel clean. I wouldn't want to have to switch to 6L6s, get it re biased and completely change the tone.
7:31, what an amazing riff
I LOVE IT, i'd love to get the tabs !!
Does he look like Mark tremonti to anyone else?
Chris George. Great Demo. May I ask what pickups you are using in this vid? I am seeking a good humbucking sound but don't know where to start.
AS for the Haze. I spent 4 hours in GeetarCenter trying every single amp. They all fell short when I really dug in the EAD chording thing. They all broke up badly and not in a good way except this (Haze) and the Fender Hot rod something.
Not sure why I chose the Haze over the Fender. Awaiting shipment now.
I really like that sound of the clean channel with the volume on a third! :D sounds like early AC/DC.
I'm just wondering why mine won't sound like that if I use the same settings.
I do realize this comment is old but It's probably because his pickups are hotter if you haven't found that out yet.

@NNX7 thank you, really !
can you tell me what guitar is that ? I cant find it, and the sound is just amazing!

@bmpolaris you're right! it's amazing. I'd love to get them, too.
@CrazyDiamond1968 It's a LAG Imperator and the guitar is great. But I agree the tone is muffled. Maybe he just likes muffled tone..?
in this video we watched Charlie Pace from LOST play guitar and tells about bright switches.
Just a great amp
Can it be used at bedroom environments and volume in a decent manner? I'm into some small gigs and stuff but if this thing only has one volume (HARD) then it's useless for me to buy it.. That'd mean 600 bucks getting ripped to pieces by my roommates..
Any thoughts?
Is it possible to use multiple effects at time? For exapmle, combining chorus & vibe in the gain mode.
Can it be controlled by a footswitch?

Its a great amp! I've just bought it! But my 2-way footswitch doensn't work. Does someone have an idea? I really don't know. Only the LED's are working.
Ive tried all the different footswitches .. none will work like the four way that's made for this amp
Im thinkin about gettin this amp, but i have a question...what does the included footswitch have on it? Just channel and boost switches?
So it's not an overly saturated overdrive amp, could this be boosted with a tube screamer? Does it take pedals well? I play some heavy stuff but I do want some of that clean tube sound
@@wasserhahn903 thanks for the input, I ended up picking up a fender champ for now. I may have to run two amps later on, maybe a messa for rock and metal and just some vintage fender for clean and fuzzy

So: mike it.
Actually, best loud clean sound I had was from a Soldano combo..
good.. but what about the peavey 6505 plus 112?
i know you can get the classic rock sounds would it work with punk too?
@wedge070 Ever heard of a Fender Twin? With a my les paul traditional, and a Direct drive overdrive,, Tone heaven. Rock on.
Only the volume knob in the clean channel?
Nice amp. I'm gonna get this for my birthday. By the way - what is the song at 7:32?

Would you please tell me how do you compare this amp to marshall class 5 ? I really don't understand why marshall discontinued this amp series !
Is there a 60 watt version in the same size as this?
so confused the combo or the head and cab?
is there a footswitch that can control all the effects?
What guitar are you playin? looks damn good
does the 40 watt combo have more overdrive than the 15 watt??
well is price a problem? cause this is a combo and the tiny terror is just a head so u wud need a cab. The tiny terror will do your fat clean but the tiny terror is more for the gain i think and this is a bit more versatile because you have two very good distinctive clean tones right the way through too gainy metal ect...
Also tiny terror is not as loud.
Would this be a nice amp for playing pop/punk/rock stuff?
where is that first riff from!?!?!?
