  • @claraausten

if the training was overly zealous, those involved should have been warned that they need to be less aggressive with their teaching and that should have been the end of it. I think it's a shame that Giovanni and Graziano have lost their careers. There is such a herd mentality with everything these days. One person makes a complaint and the rest follow. I believe the entire saga has been blown out of proportion.

  • @53Artemis

Giovanni has been with Strictly since 2015, Graziano since 2018. Why suddenly are there complaints? All the contestants are adults, they must realise the work/hours involved. And they get paid. To say that "people are more sensitive" than 5 years ago is just bonkers. For heavens sake, these are ADULTS who work in the television/ media world, hardly shy introverts.

Used to be a pleasant, entertaining programme but I stopped watching it when it became a tick box of diversity - old one, black one, disabled one, gay one, useless one nobody has ever heard of etc. If somebody is being abused do they not have the guts to take on the abuser and/or complain or walk out? Also can't abide the howling audience and ridiculously high markings from some judges. Needs a complete rethink and ditch the woke stuff.

These "beautiful people" have been pampered and babied because their physical beauty has opened doors for well paid careers, well now they are getting judged by their trainers and the judging panel and some of them can't handle coming up short and being told so, so off to HR to complain that they aren't being treated like the princesses they believe they are.

Ballroom and Latin, and any other dancing is extremely physical, and you need a strict tutor to keep you in check. Toe treading, accidental kicks and collisions happen, emotions are high as the tensions plus will to win takes over. If the kicks and smacks were purposeful that’s a no-no, but where do you draw the line, and why are the men not complaining about their treatment?

On the other hand, some women twist their failure to come in first place into being victims, blaming it on anything and everything but themselves and being unrealistic and unreasonable about the nature of competition.

It really is well known ( in professional circles)that a few competing professional dancers can and do abuse their partners, as they do seek perfection and in doing so often forget that they are causing grief and stress in their partners, and also can become physically abusive. I do realise at the same time that wokeness in the BBC is rife which I cannot stand, however, I cannot paint all celebrities as being snowflakes, some are, but lets not forget that some allegations by a small number of celeb dancers must be taken on board and taken seriously.

This has become crazy & in real danger of ruining something so many people look forward to each year. The fact is that half the time I don’t have a clue who these “celebrities” are supposed to be. They sign up for Strictly for the exposure & then start whining because it’s actually hard work. The world of competitive ballroom dancing is cut throat & you have to claw your way up to the top. Just watch some utube of Shirley Ballas dancing in her prime. She is incredible but don’t tell me she didn’t get there without a few tears along the way. I agree the public expect too high a standard these days but let’s face it, you wouldn’t watch it if everyone was crap. I myself used to dance at a minor level & believe me when I was paying for private lessons I expected to be shouted at & pushed. I wanted to get better & get my monies worth. Strictly is franchised all over Europe with exactly the same format. Is the BBC the only one experiencing this. It is all very sinister. It is an obvious target. It has been the most anticipated & watched show on tv for years.

The producers have failed in their duty of care , they were OK with bullying in plain sight of Craig Revel Hallwood calling Angela Scanlon ( a known survivor of eating disorders)... UGLY!! Just to discourage her when she was doing very well and threatening the advancement of the same sex couple he was openly sponsoring to reach the final.
