Dislikes probably came from people with lack of potencial energy , No PLUR, someone with a strong Wook Flu, extreme headbangers out of the control of a rave mom. Thanks for the video it is really cool! Congratulations
My squad calls potential energy "pre-show anxiety" lol like you know you're about to have a good ass time but getting there and waiting is the WORST and you get randomly nervous for no reason even if you've gone to like a thousand shows before
Yeah, I know that exact feeling because I've had it myself a few times over the years, but even though it prob. technically IS a form of "anxiety", considering also how much total *awesomeness* that you already *know* you're gonna be experiencing throughout the night, I really LOVE the term "potential energy", because I think it best describes what your body and subconscious already know is coming!
I would like to add two terms that i hope haven't died out over the decades. Sea Breeze: It's when you take a Vics inhaler & put it in your mouth backwards & blow creating a minty breeze in the face of the receiver. It feels amazing if someone is feeling hot/too warm. Second term: Cloud 9: It's when you stand up back to back with someone, lock arms at the elbows, & one person bends forward til the other person's feet are lifted off the ground allowing them to feel like they are floating on a cloud while they are on their back. The better way to to it is with 3 people, so the receiver is laying down, another person picks up both feet by the ankles & the other person picks up their arms. The 2 people gently swing the receiver in a back & forth motion & they get the feeling they are floating on air. Any other party tricks people remember doing or do these days??? Oh another one: pixie dusting: When someone blows glitter on you (commonly toward the face/neck/chest area)
I've known about the music but haven't had exposure to the scene until recently. Thank you for the some insight! Having simple knowledge like this makes things a lot more approachable.
Another awesome video! So now I am def going to subscribe. Thanks for making mention of the rave culture of the 90's, that is the rave culture I grew up in, those were my high school days awe :)
Heyo, new to the channel here, but I really enjoy your content! So I wanted to just leave a quick comment about a variation on PLUR. The first time I went to a Planet Of The Drums party waayyyy back in 2003, this dude had a shirt that read “PLUR - People Look Ugly Rolling”. Now depending on your stance, you’ll either be offended or find it hilarious. My friend was massively offended while I couldn’t stop giggling at it, because if you stop to think about it... the statement holds some truth to it. Anyways, love the channel - keep up the great work, hun!
Frankie Bones is STILL a Dj! But he’s not just a Dj, and the guy that coined the phrase PLUR he actually brought RAVES from the UK to the US. There was disco in the 70’s in clubs, there was house music in the 80’s in Clubs and spaces made to be a dance club. Frankie went to the UK, invited to play a 5000 person rave and when he showed up there was something like 25,000 people in a field. He started throwing events in and around NYC in places that were not meant to be like a Club. Old factories, bombed out warehouses, Highways underpasses, abandoned buildings. Those early days of Outlaw Raves and The Music that came from that era was not controlled by the music industry. It was homegrown. But it spawned what we now have today, the music industry realized there was billions to be made off of kids so they invested and dug their hooks into the rave scene. It was inevitable and I commend Pasquale for his contribution to the scene keep it about RAVE and rave culture instead of completely selling out.
THANK YOU for describing what a real rave is and explaining that it's not a show or festival! I wish this was more common knowledge. I'm not trying to be a 'scene elitist' or whatever but it drives me nuts when people call concerts and festivals "raves". True raves and warehouse parties are still happening in some of the major cities and they are definitely not the same thing as the events you can buy tickets online for. Love your content!
I just love the EDM culture sooo much, I’m a photographer and every time I about to photograph a underground event, desert rave, EDM free show or festival I get really excited because the love that people give me is amazing and I love it, is not the same with hip hop, rap etc. I’m so glad my friend introduced me into raves and I’m so glad everyone takes care of each other and love each other, I love the good vibes. Remember good vibes only and PLUR
I feel “The feels” can be explained when you are a music festival and you are beyond happy like the music hits your soul, everything is just in the right conditions and you get very emotional because of happy truly happy you are, I experienced it during the closing set of Zedd at escape and I was crying so hard but extremely happy like everything just clicks and you are so stoked to be there
I already knew all of these definitions except "boofing", (but I always rave clean anyway, so I didn't really care), and I also like the interpretation of "Potential Energy", as that is an awesome and perfect description of that feeling! It's where your body and subconscious mind already know the awesomeness that is coming, even before your conscious mind can totally grasp it all!
I’m dead 💀 at the explanation boofing 🤣🤣 love that your not afraid to explain all these terms love the definitions of Kandi kid, feels, house head and plur 👌🏽💜🙏🏼 I do consider myself rave veteran but even I learned a few things 👌🏽✨ Rail raider, rave bae, rave baby, rave veteran, flow artist, rave train are just a few to be added I could kindly suggest ☺️
Loved this, great for people new to the scene! I have a ton of suggestions, but here are a few that could be included in pt.2 - Flowing - I'm a whipper and light shows are so much more than just gloving 😍 - Ground Control/Med Tent - Harm Reduction - Ride the Rail
@@EmmaKapotes to me wooks r just hippys my squad just dousnt call themselves hippies as it's a deep movement ruited in history 1960s thru early 1980s we cant call are selves hippies as none of us where born during that movement so we refer to ourselves as wooks
Liquid - a hand based flow style that gloving gets its origins from. Glowsticking - a freehand flow style using glowsticks. House Dance - a dance style done primarily to House Music.
Obviously very basic for someone who has been around for at least a minute but I still love hearing you say it. Admire your hustle, hope to run in to you at a show. I run a music company so im all over :)
Another word I wish I would’ve known for my first rave was FLOORED. My friend group made friends with a girl who was rolling and at one point during the rave, we were all dancing and she turned to us and goes “guys I’m FLOORED” and that basically just means she’s feeling the highs of molly/ecstasy but also that she’s astounded just by the beauty of the lights and music and how connected we all felt in that moment
I love this lol thank you very much. I would get potential energy from even carnival fairs, or airports (though I would love flying/traveling), as I've gotten older onto my 20s, it's likely going to be over raves and/or festivals. :) 💜💜🦋 It's definitely butterflies.
HEY! So I really want to learn how to give people light shows 💕🤗💕 BUT I don’t know the types they have? I’m super new and show a light whip and gloves. What other forms can people do??
When I first got into edm I would always hear the term wook and for me it alway meant a female marine it wasn’t until I went to a show not near where I live did I truly see a wook and understand what it meant in the edm community 😂
I went to a few raves in the late 90s and various foam parties and things and there were people there who didn’t drop e and or sm0ke or drink or even smoke cigs so...
Like your vids., but just curious; Do you get down with any HDM at all? Love to see you do a Vlog from a Defqon 1, or Wasteland, which was this weekend.
how do i be a rave dad, i like the idea of staying sober and helping people but don’t know how, aren’t you not allowed to have water and pills etc in festivals
I disagree with the wook description but I have had the wook flu. I used to follow the Disco Biscuits and Every Single Time I got home from a 2 or 3 day run I would come down with the wook flu. That's definatley a thing. And I always though it was called Rolling cuz your eyes roll back in your head when your really getting off. I learned something new.
Prostitot (The term "Prostitute" combined with "Tot" as in "Toddler") is a common term I've heard raving here in Utah. There use to be "all ages" events here and there would be underage girls dressed really skimpy (similar to a prostitute) and trying to dance with you. We would say to one another, "Hey man, look out for the prostitot's."
IM A DANCER AND WOULD LOVE FOR U TO EXPRESS HOW MUCH DANCING SINGING DJING GRIFITTI ART AND MUSIC MAKING...5 PILLARS OF HIP HOP OR RAVE INFLUENCED THE SEEN. LOVE UR VIDEOS.
Hey Emma hopefully we run into you at Ultra this year you can meet some old folks hahaha! I'm going this year with my Wife who I met at a party in 1999 (anniversary gift to each other) my best friend who I met at a party in 1998 at the masquerade in Atlanta and his wife. We have all been best friends since the 90's and my wife and I married for 15 years and now have 3 kids. Plur came from the hippie culture in the 60's, we knew candy kids as the trance kids back in the day. The techno now days is more resemblance of the trance in the 90's. We called the "feels" the "vibe" back when. Anyhow hopefully we run into you and if you are interested in some of mine and my bestfriend's mixes for the trip to miami, (we both have been mixing since the 90's ) i can send a soundcloud link. I currently am mixing bounce/techno but have some more melodic/progressive mixes and have some progressive trance mixes as well.

TurnUpTheAC63 so true!
Every time... lol
I call it pre-rave jitters :)
Yo I always had this feeling and thought I was weird but its relieving to hear this is a thing!
I always called it "Pre-show anxiety" but I think potential energy is a way more positive term, and I think I'm gonna adopt that!
“Potential Energy” is real af and I get it every time before any show or festival . I love that 😂🥰🥰🥰
I'm mainly a headbanger and basshead but I do like listening other genres like house, hard style, etc.
Fun fact: the plur handshake didn't exist till the late 2000s. I never saw it in the 90s, we usually just gave hugs.
Snowflakes didn't exist back then
It was around in like 06-07 when I came on the scene
@@patrickcraig8022 that time frame is what I meant by late 2000s.
Yup there was definitely no handshake in the 90s. The heart respect unity bracelet, someone correct me if I’m wrong 2008ish
Who said PLUR is childish? I want names >:(
Andre Roman me
Me too
I did
its a very common raver term. mostly used by females but yes its a word. know your shit.
European ravers will tell you
I’m a headbanger till the day I die, I got a concession at Excision show, and bust my lip when Skrillex dropped that hard hard
My “potential energy” is me getting anxious / nervous / excited all at once before a show or festival.
👍👍 I want to go so bad to one. Looks like so much fun.
Everyone who goes to festivals gotta try candy-flipping. You will acquire godlike abilities. Up next: jedi-flip
Intrinsity what’s candy flipping?
little flower molly and lsd
Shanon Hemmings oh lmao tried molly haven’t done lsd I wonder how different it is to molly
little flower lsd makes your visual perspective change. You can sometimes lose touch with reality
little flower it’s pretty different. Mixing them is quite intense. Not meant for the weak minded

Capitalism tries to co-opt everything, and reduce it to its most superficial form to turn it into a commodity..
