Ahhh, The Fills. That area is closed to everyone now due to construction and restoration, along with issues arising from some folks coming down from the mainland and absolutely trashing it. It’s been a sore subject for years due to some folks not brining out their trash, fighting, illegally parking their vehicles, anchoring their boats so they blocked the channel, walking back and forth across the road blocking traffic, trying to camp there, and so much more. The county (and Village of the Islands/Islamorada) put up ‘no parking’ signs in some areas and trash cans to try to help curb some of the activity, but folks just moved them, and continued on. Other than the trash, broken bottles, and fights, the main thing that caused the issue was that folks would stop their cars in the road, effectively blocking traffic, while trying to wait for a spot to open where they could park. Understand, this is the only highway in or out of the area, and the parking issues caused standstill traffic. Basically they did it to themselves. They have had hearings about if/when they plan to allow any access to the area, but the FDOT and residents want it shut down for good. Others have been trying to turn the area into a park, with bathrooms and parking. Recently there were no trespassing/parking signs around the area, as well as bright orange can barricades, but I’m not sure if they were moved for the construction or for some other reason as I don’t really see them in the video. Sucks that the actions of a few caused issues for everyone. Sadly, there are a lot of places in the Keys that are headed in that same direction.

Brant, most fisherman go a lifetime without seeing a game warden. Not you, he gets you on day one, and the Sherriff on day two. Plus, the bite was on. No reason arguing or saying anything their mind was already made up and nothing said would change it...but you and everyone else know, if you weren't allowed to fish there the game warden would have told you that. That's kinda the reason that part of the state is nice. From all the tourists and people on vacation all that generated revenue.

@@maybeitsyou1317 I never said have the sheriff investigate. It would be FWC (the agency that checked his license) a state law enforcement agency investigating a county sheriff. Two totally separate law enforcement agencies.

Wish you asked that Sheriff what the regulation was about fishing there? I can't find anything on the internet from FWC, or Monroe County saying you can't fish there. I'm coming down there next week and plan on doing the exact same thing.
I thought the same. Florida resident and never ever had a problem fishing public area. If they asked to leave, I’d ask them where “No fishing” sign at? And damn sure I’m not in private properties.
Looks like you're right by Indian Key. We would drive there from ft Lauderdale in the morning, park on the side set up our coolers and grill and just fish drink eat and swim all day. About 50 yards off the shore on the east side is a sandbar that's fun to swim to. They have no parking signs now for most of that area but you can sneakily park at the marina across the bridge and walk. We would go there maybe 3 times a year. Everyone else we met there were from Dade or Broward there for a day trip. Locals tended to not bother with that area too much other than launching boats and tourists from out of state stuck to charters and resorts and restaurants. Was a nice little area. Fwc rolls by that area a few times a day during the busy season.
Personally, I think that the sheriff made up that you couldn't fish there. The rule of thumb typically is that if it isn't posted, you are authorized to fish there if its public property. Especially if the game warden said nothing and that is their realm of enforcement. Either way, I am loving the content.
I am a ND resident and go into MT to fish. Get checked everywhere I have fished. Creeks, rivers and lakes throughout the state. If only so lucky with lottery 😁
Great video Brant! Some awesome catches in this one. Too funny how Brad got the boot in his latest video there too. At least the game warden was a nice guy. Lol Thanks for sharing!!!
That sheriff deputy sucked big time he did not even take the time to tell you why it was illigal to fish there unless there was more to the conversation we did not see.
That’s y I just launch my kayak man. No signs is crap, and unfair to us fisher men and ladies. I’ve noticed that more and more in Florida over the last few years. Which brings me to my first point, kayak. !!!!!!
Hey man here is the thing. If you are standing in the water they are powerless to tell you you can’t fish. Only if you are standing on land does MCSO have control over you fishing.
Monroe county has all sorts for statues and local ordinances that prevent a lot of things. Every thing to how many spaces can be at a boat ramp to what bridges you can and can’t fish from. There are a lot of spots not marked that you can not fish from that a county cop would know and not the FWC. There are even canals you can’t fish in down there. Always check the local ordinances on which key you are visiting before you go. Brant did the best thing and moved on, down there not knowing doesn’t keep you safe from fines. Trust me I know. Keep up the great videos man, epic stuff for sure!
@@pain_weaver I researched this and an ordinance is in fact 100% a law. An ordinance is a local law. County, city, village or town and can be enforced. Know your facts before you comment.

I would have mentioned why isn't there signage stating no fishing? How is someone supposed to know! That's ridiculous. If I'm not mistaken the Sherriff department does not have law enforcement for fishing rules and regulation's in the State of Florida. That's FWC jurisdiction.
unless posted, if it's public property you can fish it. I would have let the deputy know you're filming and you would like to know what regulation states you're unable to fish there. It's bad enough getting harassed by random people for fishing let alone law enforcement talking out of their ass.
It's good to see law enforcement alert and on top of high crime. What a stroke of luck by deputies, happening up just as an alarming crime was actually in progress. And the vigilant badged crusaders saved the unsuspecting public from the fate of this serial fish catcher. Sorry Brant, you just thought you were free to enjoy the outdoors in peace.
Great video Brother! I'm sittin' at home with broken neck, wishing I was right there... by the way, I would have told that Sheriff, to show me why I can't fish there... FWC is the most powerful law enforcement agency in this state... if he didn't run you off, f*** those other guys...

Wish you asked that Sheriff what the regulation was about fishing there? I can't find anything on the internet from FWC, or Monroe County saying you can't fish there. I'm coming down there next week and plan on doing the exact same thing.
I would love a follow up... Good info. Hope you catch a ton.
I thought the same. Florida resident and never ever had a problem fishing public area. If they asked to leave, I’d ask them where “No fishing” sign at? And damn sure I’m not in private properties.
I would get FWC to give you something in writing saying you can. That way you’re covered. My 2 cents
Was it a Closed County Ramp/Park? If so the Deputy should have said “you are trespassing, please leave” Not no fishing allowed.
Great show again, thanks ,,egg man here
Thanks, Allen! 😊
so much for that freedom we have!
Awesome video guys!!!
Loved the video. Keep it up!
Personally, I think that the sheriff made up that you couldn't fish there. The rule of thumb typically is that if it isn't posted, you are authorized to fish there if its public property. Especially if the game warden said nothing and that is their realm of enforcement. Either way, I am loving the content.
Nope, it's the city ordinances that state you can't fish their, they are protected reefs
I am a ND resident and go into MT to fish.
Get checked everywhere I have fished. Creeks, rivers and lakes throughout the state.
If only so lucky with lottery 😁
Been going to the keys for years!! Island fish company is the best. Hit that place every year!! Try breakfast there also!!
Great video Brant! Some awesome catches in this one. Too funny how Brad got the boot in his latest video there too. At least the game warden was a nice guy. Lol
Thanks for sharing!!!
Catch you some small grunts. Use them for bait out on Long key Guaranteed good time.
Great job, be more careful, don’t want to read where you have been gator bait, lol
It's all about the adventure!
So a video suggestion. Catch and cook right on the beach. Did that when I used to fish in Canada.
Dude. That is awesome you ened up fishing with ZZ TOP 12:40
Great place to eat!
Love the videos!!!!
Fishing do be kinda fun
Sparkys is also a good restaurant to try have the best fish tacos in town also the stuffed pig is great for breakfast
Great video as usual.
I’m a FL resident to but only been asked for my fishing license once in Tampa but man I love your videos my man keep killing it
Monroe county has all sorts for statues and local ordinances that prevent a lot of things.
Ordinances are not law.
@@pain_weaver those Monroe County boys will be more than happy to let you discuss that with a judge.
@@pain_weaverkeep crying about it😂 you still get charged
@@Daveeeeeeyhowyoudoing you flap your DSL way too much. 🤣🤣
@@pain_weaver
I researched this and an ordinance is in fact 100% a law. An ordinance is a local law. County, city, village or town and can be enforced.
Know your facts before you comment.
You probably got rookied by the Deputy. No signs, Game Warden didn't say anything?
Odds have it that's his and his buddies favorite bank fishin spot! LOL! Welcome back to The Keys...
Jesus Man!! Makes me not wanna come fl keys at all now capt! They can’t leave you be they don’t own the water😂😂
why cant you fish there? is it not public water
Revenue collectors everywhere in the keys.
jacks revive much better if you toss em head first like a bonito holding em still starts to drown them👍🏼
Be there in 2 weeks. Thanks!!
As always cool video 👍🏼👍🏼
I would have mentioned why isn't there signage stating no fishing? How is someone supposed to know! That's ridiculous. If I'm not mistaken the Sherriff department does not have law enforcement for fishing rules and regulation's in the State of Florida. That's FWC jurisdiction.
When it comes to something like this, the FWC knows more than the Sheriffs. If the game warden didn't say anything, you're good.
lol...local sheriff doesnt have the authority to enforce federal law
That’s my home boy lol he’s cool af
miss my FLA fishing days.......
That's his fishing spot, he didn't want anyone fishing it.
Great video.
Needed a chill and reel for that restaurant lol
what a crock of s**t! i guess that the cop didn't have anything better to do than harass the little guy. they love showing you who's the boss.
Welcome to Munroe County. Sounds normal!
unless posted, if it's public property you can fish it. I would have let the deputy know you're filming and you would like to know what regulation states you're unable to fish there. It's bad enough getting harassed by random people for fishing let alone law enforcement talking out of their ass.
Its probably just the sheriffs personal fishin spot.
Awesome video
It's good to see law enforcement alert and on top of high crime. What a stroke of luck by deputies, happening up just as an alarming crime was actually in progress. And the vigilant badged crusaders saved the unsuspecting public from the fate of this serial fish catcher. Sorry Brant, you just thought you were free to enjoy the outdoors in peace.
You guys know how to do it !! 🧨🧨🧨
uuuugh go for fish and caught bacon
Sheriff didn’t want you in his spot
Damn dude very nice day on the water
Island fish company has some damn good breakfast as well
Great video Brother! I'm sittin' at home with broken neck, wishing I was right there... by the way, I would have told that Sheriff, to show me why I can't fish there... FWC is the most powerful law enforcement agency in this state... if he didn't run you off, f*** those other guys...
From what I understand those parrot fish are vegetarians.. I've seen people wrap a big piece of seaweed around their hook and then drop it in front of them and that's what they eat.
