Damn I did NOT expect sky sanctuary so low, for me it's actually the best zone in the game, classic sonic being his best level and modern sonic being top 3, especially when you speedrun the modern level
I think the one saving grace in Planet Wisp for me is the visual storytelling. Act 2 especially is pretty well done, the opening starting with no visible machinery in sight, just pure nature. No matter the route though, it funnels you to an enclosed cave that shoots you onto a grind rail over the polluted waters. You follow that rail to find the source of the purple water, platforming across the trees and above the pollution before finding the rocket wisp, and you blast into the industrial factory setting from below, with the camera not showing you any sign of that factory until you blast through. It keeps building on the factory elements throughout the stage until by the final climb even the background natural cliffs are replaced fully with machinery. Literally the singular thing this stage was missing was great level design, it was SO CLOSE to being a great conclusive stage to base Generations. It's not even bad, it's just a letdown after Rooftop Run
Origins most definitely didn't suck, I don't think there was a single new fan that went through that game and had any issues with it. When you're just playing them they are the classics one-to-one, with better saving, no lives, better resolutions, actual cutscenes, extra content and better controller support. They are the definitive way to play the originals. "But Denuvo and the beyond minor 1-2 glitches per game nobody notices casually!!!" Yeah, OK, that answers itself really. 99% of people either don't care or don't encounter them cause they're not an issue casually.
in my case, it wasn't a minor glitch, i literally got to a point where the plus update let me launch it again after the save file got corrupted in story mode sonic 3 hidden palace zone. The game couldn't boot until the plus update came out.
I think the problem is that it's the already existing remakes but with stuff removed, full price and some stuff that isn't worth it. If you have a console, then yeah, they are probably the best way. But if you have a phone or pc, you know better than that
Banger video, I’ve never had the chance to fully play through generations but I just love to see some of my favourite stages (like chemical plant zone) so beautifully recreated in a modern format
I think you did Modern Sky Sanctuary really dirty. ;( I think like 90% of it is pure peak and a small misstep in the end is maybe worth knocking it **at most** one rank for. Might you reconsider?
adding on to what you said about crisis city act 2 theme i also love it and i especially love that part of the song where it sounds like sonic cd's Sonic Boom its such a random implementation but its put in so well

@HiImAiden YOU should honestly make reviews on Sonic fangames. That would be a fun watch! Have you ever played the fangame "Sonic World DX"? If not, I HIGHLY recommend it. As it's like a mix of Sonic Generations and Sonic Adventure (level wise) PLUS it has like 20 characters to play with. Or, you could make a review on "Sonic World V10" which is like DX, but with a LOT more stages, and characters. The only setback for me with Sonic World V10 is that it's more unpolished than Sonic World DX.
I've always thought Crisis City Act 2 could've pulled a bit more from the original game. Like I get that Act 1 already covers most of it but things like the skateboarding and rail grinding go completely unsued despite being very prominent in the OG. Maybe pull more from Shadow's and Silver's versions? Shadow grinding around the fire tornado and marveling at its size was always a cool setpiece
I don't think I've ever agreed with opinions so much to completely change my mind at the end, i do not like Seaside Hill and chemical plant zone and i thought that would be more commonly thought, but maybe I just don't like water levels. Regardless great video!

That level is mad fun to speedrun, my record is 1:52 but I think it's design flaws are too big to ignore. Classic is in my top 3 classic levels though

I’ve just played Sonic X Shadow Generations and I can say that it’s….. actually really good! The new Shadow campaign is a blast to play!
