I really wonder why he went through with such a risky role. Confidential informants don't do this type of work because they're saints -- usually they have serious charges that they're trying to avoid, or at least get a plea deal, by risking their asses.
Yep he really put his life at risk. If that was me I would have asked for a new identity, my own private island in the Caribbean and never to be asked to carry out any sting job ever again.

Inmates can cost thirty thousand dollars a year, more than it cost to attend college. The whole point of parole is to give convicts an incentive to work towards improvement and save resources, that would be spent on incarcerating someone who has been reformed.

And I thought I'd seen every FBI files episode. There's hope😎. The ex-cop had to be on the other side of the law to have hardcore, brazen, violent criminals trust in him. I'm sure that's why he didn't get more acclaim. Must have had his slate wiped clean.He was the key to the whole takedown.
The take down should have ended a little different. The SWAT team should have apprehended the CI as well, NOT walked with him like they were pals. Then in front of Charlie, the FBI should have thanked Charlie's brother Joey for his cooperation and took him away alone in a separate vehicle. Then make all attempts to prevent the brothers from making contact with each other. This would have set in confusion in the mind of Charlie and for a while at least kept the CI from being outed as such, giving the FBI and the CI and his family time to start a new life in the protection program. Because you know this Charlie and his crew will be looking for the CI forever.
I kind of suspect that a lawyer might have some things to say about your idea. In any case, they locked the gang up forever... I hope though that they gave the guy a new identity.

What happend to the informant? Did he get a job with law enforcement, put in witness protection, get paid? He took an incredible risk. One thing I've learned from watching these shows is, that if you ever go to law enforcement with knowledge of someone who committed a crime, they will try to put you in the middle, they will even try to find a crime you can be accused of to blackmail you into doing their dirty work. So be careful.

As soon as he said a ar15 could go through a vest I laughed. The AR-15 is chambered in 223 most police wear level 3 vests. A 223 will not pierce a lvl 3 vest a 223 is significantly less powerful than most hunting rifles
Almost all rifle bullets, including .223 Remington (the AR-15's standard round) will go through most police vests (soft body armor). Police rarely wear hard body armor (level 3 or 4) The cop's comment is indeed silly because there's not much special about the AR in this case - no soft body armor will stop rifle bullets reliably. The .223 is actually better than most rifle rounds at penetrating level 3 body armor because of its very high velocity compared to larger bullets. You need level 4 to reliably stop .223 rounds.

As James Reeves said, if you go too a gunstore in America and they have an AK there is an 80 - something percent chance that they are going to try too sell you some american made dogshit, however if you get a real AK, man, one of the best possible rifles to defend yourself. The first guy took that advice and we can all be glad that he did.
