Yup a little early. Those seeds should have been cut. You should get four seeds from one of those. The perfect size for a seed is 1/2 the size of a large hen egg. Roughly 1oz in weight. I hope your carrots do better for you. If you burn a fire the ash is really good for potatoes. It’s a natural form of potassium . It is potash About 2-3 cups of dry ash incorporated in the soil when yo plant them. They’ll love you for it. Good luck
Actually you should leave the roots in the bag. As they die it’s a great form of nitrogen and it helps the soil stay loose also anytime you pull weed leave them in the bag as well they will put the nutrients back that they removed. Kinda use it as a mulch ! Those to things help in reviving your soil ! Most people don’t know that they just throw them out. Always put em back

You harvest them when they turn yellow and start to die. Some wait til they fully died. They were flowering that means they were still forming tubers
