This hypes it up for me even more because I am a huge sucker for sentimental coming of age dramas as well as movies that show their love for cinema (I mean my most favorite of the year so far is Pompo the Cinephile, so that should tell you something) so the fact that this film shows off both those subjects means this is most likely going to be a slam dunk for me. Spielberg of course is also my all time favorite director so I'm already beyond biased that this will be my most favorite film of the year. It'd be great if Spielberg finally received a fourth Oscar since he has made so many great films throughout the decades.
We have like a predicted line up of what will be oscar nominated and unless it comes out and it's terrible, it stays in. It happens every year. There will be several 4-star (or better) movies that come out and get completely ignored. It really is a popularity contest
You are crazy. When the movie went to how the movies can change you and the effort from the creator on change someone's life the movie was one of a kind! Best picture of the year!!!!!!
I just saw it. I agree mostly with this take. It isn't Spielbergs best but I did like it. I thought Williams was good but a bit showy. There are moments where it will hit ya.
@@aidanormond291 how am I looking down? I’m literally making an observation how the film drunk looks at films. He doesn’t like heartfelt films or films that celebrate cinema, but looks at them as either Oscar contenders or not Oscar contenders.
@@justjustin3961 I assumed there was a local screening since he's screened in most other cities last week. Would be disappointing if he missed out (although they'll send awards season screeners out anyway)

“I liked it. I didn’t love it.”
There’s our best picture winner. 😂
Filmmakers only appreciate this.
Oop. Well...Babylon anyone?

I didn’t even hear you even mention David Lynch in your review.
He’s in it for five minutes, he’s good in those five minutes boom

Its not
Judd Hirsch was FUCKING FANTASTIC in Ordinary People. GET THE MAN NOMINATED AGAIN!
i'm soooo o o o. o excited for you to report back on the whale, but go get your dang food!!
Do we think Women Talking or The Fabelmans will win Tiff's People's Choice (or will it be some third option?)
Honestly, The Fabelmans looks like a movie you watch with your grandpa when nothing else is on TV.
You must be quite gullible if that's your perception of the movie you haven't yet seen
hello from Romania

Judd Hirsch got nominated for best supporting actor for Ordinary People. He could win.
Not been to Tiff but I reckon Judd Hirsch will probably get a SAG nomination and nothing else
who do you think is more deserving of the Oscar Michelle Williams or Claire foy?

You seem more like a guy who views movies as sport as opposed to movies as art. This review kinda proves that.

I see what you mean. You might like this channel more when it's not award season.
*me not even a film student *
"he just like me fr"
side note: upset I haven't seen you yet. Painz
The trailer didn't excite me, but I'm sure it'll get nominated above Everything Everywhere. Did you see Don't Worry, Darling?
don't think dwd was at tiff

Based on the trailer and your review, it kinda seems a bit too pretentious… no one’s childhood can be THAT cinematic… 😓😒
you're acting like his parents having a divorce isn't going to be a big part of the narrative. also y'all need to stop using the word pretentious

@@eirakari well it's also got to be cinematic, entertaining film.
Then you might want to stay away from Belfast, Roma, The 400 Blows, Tree of Life and Almost Famous if that's the case.
