They didnt kick him out.... After being with a group for a number of years...sometimes people choose to explore other avenues for their career. Mervyn wanted to do more writing and producing, composing etc... Same with cedric dent... He left the group to focus on other aspects of his life, career etc also...earned his PhD and does a lot of teaching.
