As a proud Moog Little Phatty Stage II owner... thank you for this heartfelt and informative video and for an amazing product that preserves the spirit and memory of the legendary Bob Moog. The world of music, music instrumentation and musicians thank you!
I was very fortunate to buy a two year old Minimoog Voyager, quite recently, from a decent chap, who, not, only delivered my Moog too me; but, ran the whole system up, (he even bought a speaker with him,) I paid £1,600 for, what, is, to me, my dream analogue synth. This instrument gives me so much pleasure; from the organic richness of the beautiful cabinet to tactile feel of all the knobs and switches......down to the equally beautiful organic sounds, that only a truly 100% analogue synth can generate. Bless you Dr Bob. May you RIP.
The little phatty is one of the greatest moog products ever. His basssound is so amazing and i'm proud to be a owner of the last Real Moog Synthesizer you can hear his experience of 40 years creating Synthesizers. I bought my little phatty in 2009 now in 2023 ist live Himmel More than ever.
The LP was my entry to the Moog sound. The more time you spend with it, playing programming, mixing with effects and other instruments, the more you find how great it can be. Now I sold mine to buy a Voyager module, an even more fantastic synth. Long may Moog's sound live!
I own the limited edition white Little Phatty S2 and I absolutely love it. I've been playing with it for about 2 months and still feel a sense of wonder that I've never felt with other synths.
Very very sad I am literally almost in tears , it's a great synth and affordable which says a lot coming from moog I'm sad to see it go and I hope in the future they will bring it back maybe even improve on it and perhaps call it the "BIG PHATTY"
Only now will I get a chance to own my own Slim and my first Moog synth. Just know my thumbs up is really a heart emote reaction to this video. ❤ Cheers from this synth enthusiast.
Such a shame. I think every kid should have a Little Phatty. By the time my grandkids are ready for one, they will be 3 times the price and called "Vintage". So sad.
You know, I really wanted one for christmas this year. I played one on display at guitar center and loved it. It would have been a massive investment for my home studio, since I can't really afford a voyager... Is there something else that is just as good?
excellent synth that kept the Moog flag high for years - I bet there are many of them, for everyone to have one - but it's younger sibling is an excellent product too - not exactly 'sub' you know - I would like it to have longer keyboard (like the little phatty) but I guess this is like this for cost reasons. Did I told you that 'little phatty' is a funny nice name?
This was an awesome piece and tribute. I am curious WHY discontinue it? Cost or availability of certain components? Lack of demand? Focus on other instruments (sub versus little)?
Oh no, that makes me a little sad ;o( on the other side, every great era got an end. The Little Phatty is definitely a great Synthesizer, for ever! ;o)
bomb2themaximum they are both discontinued. But at the moment, I think the Little Phatty / Slim Phatty is one of the best-value-per-dollar Moogs out there. I picked mine up for $500 locally and made a new synth friend through it. I highly recommend buying it since it's pretty likely to go way up in value over the next couple decades, Moog has a huge brand name value attached to it. And hilariously enough, it's usually about the same price or cheaper as the Mother32, which has only 1 oscillator and just sounds less good to my ears.
I traded an Ensoniq TS-10 for a Phatty Stage II a few years ago. I paid $30 for the TS so it seemed like a pretty good deal. ;-) My only complaint: why oh why didn't they put button on the front panel to switch the filter poles? Still, such a great synth...
This vid proves my hate for Behringer and other companies that only steal and copy. Where were we musicians when there were no innovators anymore? When there would be nothing behind the instruments except making money? I simply cannot make music that has no real content and so I can´t play instruments that have no soul - or that are a product of copying or stealing. I wouldn´t feel inspired by their sound, moreso I would feel like being guilty to have followed the cheap money and betrayed the real inventors. - Some days ago a friend of mine told me that he saw a 2nd hand Model D by Behringer for 150€ on Ebay. I wouldn´t take it even as a present for free.
A lot of them are played by bass players, though, and I dont think all of them are really in to programming, so the 16(?) memory slots of the Sub feels a bit shy. But the Sub brought some new features, so maybe there is a Sub phatty with more moemory slots and larger keyboard coming?
Worst name ever, possible, all I know is I kinda sorta want to buy one now. Only fear is what is coming next but then again no one said one moog is enough!
With all due respect Moog got the oscillators on the LP WRONG!! It's very rolled off and lacking the analog bite. Seems they fixed it in the latest sub phatty though.

This synth will be vintage classic in twenty years. I need to find one on ebay:-)

This is what makes Moog a great company. Keep moving ahead.
So happy I own a Little Phatty.

great man and great synth, great soundtrack too !thank you Bobo Moog
Glad I got one! Now it's vintage.
Electrical Engineering student, this inspired me to get a Slim Phatty
Keep up the great work!
I love my Slim Phatty more than any of my other synths, and I LOVE THE NAME! Thanks Moog.
Fabulous video, amazing synth! I love my Slim Phatty!
My fave moog synth …..bought two
Little Phatty is cool and the name is really cool
I'm glad I bought my Solar Edition! Wish I could've gotten the bag they're offering with it now. Mine came preinstalled with the CV output mod.
I have a low serial number tribute edition modified and upgraded with CV and all the stuffs. I still use it more than many of my synths.
Great video, you guys are awesome.
Moog 4ever.
Great story.
Pointer in sound and wonderful man
Who did the music in this video! Love it
My Micromoog is still doing the job .
Such a shame. I think every kid should have a Little Phatty. By the time my grandkids are ready for one, they will be 3 times the price and called "Vintage". So sad.
Hi 🌻 What's the music / artist playing in this video? 🎼🍇
Some nice music comes with this video. What's that music, can you add a tracklist please? Thanks!
Anyone else see Chaz Bundick (Toro y Moi) at 8:02?

Moog marketing is spectacular.

really regret selling it!
Me too, bought it back 6 months later
I want that original design panel!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course I ended w an SubP so I guess I kind of do have it....
I have a serious question! Does this mean the little phatty is done for but the slim phatty is still being produced or have both been discontinued

I prefer analog over digital.

I'd still like to know why they're discontinuing it, though I'm not surprised that they're not telling.

Soundtrack by?
Slim Phatty remains in production?
I have the tribute edition, I don't have the original owners manual, so if anyone has one they want to sell, please get in touch
Probably to focus on their subphatty who has similar features. It must be easy for the management and the logistics.
❤️💣
They're still around most likely they will gone by the end of summer
Was the disclaimer for the name of the synth the picture of Bob with George Clinton?
Chaz Bundick @ 7:58 !
ah crap, now I gotta buy a little phatty, and shave my beard off.
5:43 Rainn Wilson
what you stop making the little phatty???
Worst name ever, possible, all I know is I kinda sorta want to buy one now. Only fear is what is coming next but then again no one said one moog is enough!
Why your Phatty No No?
I am not happy about this
With all due respect Moog got the oscillators on the LP WRONG!! It's very rolled off and lacking the analog bite. Seems they fixed it in the latest sub phatty though.
