When £8,000 is the _lowest_ cashbuilder on the team, you know they’re *really* good! Just a shame we’re unlikely to see this total again any time soon, as £8k+ cashbuilders are becoming rarer and rarer…
@@qasimhussain1678 Well, it depends. If Gareth answered the same number of questions correctly as the team did collectively, then on his own, he would’ve been caught with 3 or 4 seconds remaining because of the way head-starts work in the final chase. This is why I’m not slamming any of the other 3 for going low - tactically, it makes perfect sense.
I misunderstood the title when I first read it; I thought that it meant that one individual player got a cashbuilder of £38,000. So I immediately thought that the title was clickbait, since it wouldn't be possible for 1 person to correctly answer 38 questions in 60 seconds. However, I then realised that the £38,000 was from the 4 players combined. 😛
The current record is probably in one of the recent episodes. More and more teams recently are so immovable in not going high the show has been making higher high offers than ever to try to tempt them. In the old days the standard cap for a team pot was £60,000, but nowadays it's common for the 4th player to get a six figure offer!
@@markn.7914 lol, the title was recently changed, the original title was something along the lines of 'The Chase UK: Highest Cashbuilder Total - 38 Correct Answers'
Interesting to see how different the game is played in others countries. Germany also adopted this format but they only get 500 Euro per answer and you almost never see someone go down as they give so little money. Only giving them a reasonable amount if most of the team lost already. And in the final you usually see well below 10k total which they almost never win. Pretty cheap show for the channel xD
Gareth wasn’t a very nice contestant to be honest, the other three were actually making smart decisions because it’s all about getting as many players back in the final chase as possible. I mean, yes it could’ve been a £38,000 win, but £19,000 is still a lot of money, but I feel like Gareth could’ve been more supportive about their decisions.
@@gameshowclipsI think you’ve hit the nail right on the head. Any money-whether it’s £1 or £200,000-is zero money until the final chase is won, if it’s even won in the first place. £19,000 would actually be considered an average team cashbuilder total by modern standards, so none of them really had anything to worry about as £4,750 each is still a good payout for an hour’s worth of work. Still, it’s always interesting seeing different teams play _The Chase_ in different ways; whether that’d be all going low just to play the final chase, or all going high to maximise the pot. Every episode may be different, but at its core, it’s still a team game.
