When I was a kid visiting my grandma in Pennsylvania Allentown I would go to the blockbuster down the street, rest in peace grandma I miss you more then ever
Man the nostalgia especially when you mentioned the smell when you mentioned it all of the sudden i could smell my local blockbuster again man soooooooo many memories i miss it 😢
Sickkkk!! I hope it’s still there in a few years when I can take my daughter and she’ll understand and appreciate it! Basically a museum of our childhoods!
This brings back so many childhood memories. I remember my brothers and I would save our money and go to BlockBuster every weekday evening with our mom to grab some movies to watch for our dad. There was sooooooooooo many selections of classic kid movies!!! It was like a dream come true where all your favorite kid movies are available at. We would run and race each other down the ramp then disperse in different directions to find the kids section, fantasy section, and horror section. My mom would give me a quarter to get some jellybean candies from the candy machine. I miss those memories so much. I hope that when I get old I won't ever forget how much I enjoyed my childhood and how much my parents love me.
I live in Oregon. I still remember our Blockbuster video in my small town. It switched locations twice. Now there's a Dollar Tree in its place. Oh the memories.
I first experienced going in the store when I came to Canada in 2004. One of the great memories for sure! Thanks for taking us to the last ever open Blockbuster store in the world, Omar and Tiph! 😘
I remember my parents taking me and they would allow me to pick out a movie when I went and they also used to have candy up front brings back good memories 😊
Ahh good good. I can tell u stories about old console like Atari 2600. I was born in 77. The arcades in the 80s. Good places. I had a blockbuster in San Diego Ca.
Wow I can’t believe how many memories you brought back for me with my dad when I was a kid I wish we could go back in time when life was great not that’s it’s not now but the world was a better place then
Yeah, that Blockbuster is gonna do well especially when they have no competition in the world. The only video stores around here are Family Video. Take care Omar and Tiphannie. 🇺🇲 👍
Im 22 and I know the nostalgia of having to rewind VHS's and how satisfying/fun it was putting it in and hearing it starting up, man that was cool, my mom still has all of our VHS tapes
That’s really cool Omar I miss them too in my old home town we never had a block buster we had a Movie Gallery it was pretty much the same concept but they eventually closed it down Nd made it a laundry mat Nd donut shop Nd then a truck stop
Oh the memories. When I would date, back in the day. This was always my go to place. 9 times outta 10, would walk out with the movie, Southern Comfort. “Our” Blockbuster is now an Anytime Fitness…. In which I have NEVER walked inside.😒
This video has such nostalgia I remember going to Blockbuster I'll probably steal all about two or $3000 for some videos that I forgot to return LOL. Thank you so much for sharing this with us brings back memories.
Thanks Omar. I think Blockbuster should give it a try again. I would definitely be a member once more. It was a bonding experience for my son and I when he was a kid. We still talk about our Blockbuster days. Glad you are alright. God bless you both.
Talking about the Game Stop stores, we have a wonderful store here in Edmonds, WA called Another Castle (nice play on words). They buy and sell used games and systems just like Game Stop and also have an attached area with games, i.e., pin ball and the like. Better than Game Stop I think and privately owned.
Pinball. I have that in Atari. I still have an Atari. But it’s broken. I use to go to game stop in my city. But I kinda go on steam. But no computer or laptop. I’m known as the video pinball king.
I must add seeing this makes me cry my fondest memories with my dad that has now passed was with blockbuster, was our treat every weekend to go rent out video games a a movie 😭 they should never have closed I’m from Australia and ours was the first to shut down
As you walked in to the Block Buster store, I could literally smell what it used to smell like inside! That distinct smell of VHS and the plastic cases, sometimes popcorn and candy - just ever so faintly... that is so cool!! Thanks for sharing your trip "back in time" with us!!
This was such a cool video Omar! Thank you so much. I loved BlockBuster video too and hate that it’s gone! Really had no idea there was 1 left and I live pretty close in Vancouver Island British Columbia can’t wait to visit it some day. Totally awesome!!!
Omg! Talk about flashbacks!!! I never felt as old as I did watching this and at the same time a bit emotional. It reminded me of when my 1st grandchild was born me rushing down town to hire out video/DVD for him. Mostly Barney the dinosaur 🦖. Still know his theme song off by heart, which I sang to him and his sister and 2 brothers that followed, at night to get them to sleep 😴💤! God be with those days. Kids don't know what they're missing now. I still have 3 video recorders here and videos. Never throw them out. Thanks so much Omar and tiph , you made me realize Just how precious life and time is, especially with what and who you have in your life, and never to take anything or anyone for granted. Love you both 💖💝💗
I’m 19 and I still remember going to blockbuster of Friday nights when I was younger. It’s really cool to know that the very last blockbuster is only a couple hundred miles away from me as I live in oregon aswell.
You lucky buggers , Blockbuster couldn't believe my 👀. My local Blockbuster closed about 4yrs ago miss it big time , great place for the community to meet. Great video Omar and Tiph thanks for sharing with the world 🌎.
You know, Omar, I both think and believe that all of these movie rental stores should and must come back in this era and generation today and for the future. Bring them all back! Because it has gotten to where most of what we are having to stream and look through over all other internet-based sources isn’t just cutting it for anybody anymore. A decade ago, we used to all pay only $3.50 for a movie rental or for a rented video game but today on iTunes and so many others, it’s about five to six dollars. I say to bring back all of these movie rental stores like Blockbuster and so many more and never let them go. 🌞🌞🌞❤️😊😊
I remember going every friday to our store in San Francisco . It was the highlight of my week and allowed me to distress from the dramas in my home life
My fiancé was a manager for Blockbuster UK. At the end of the run in Scotland they started putting to tanning booths in the shop too! That was 15 years ago. Then he made the move to Sky! Mike loved his job as he liked dvd's (huge film buff) and his customers. Good times!!
I miss Blockbuster so much. I used to love going on a Friday nights and picking out a movie and buying candy at the checkout with popcorn it was the best! Why does that make me feel so old?
I miss our local blockbuster in my town. My husband worked there for several years. My son fortunately remembers blockbuster bc he got to rent video games from there regularly. Thanks for sharing this iconic monument.
Summer break from school was all about Block Buster and doing the Hooky Pooky at the local roller skating rink. Skating Rinks will be the next extinction before long. Some good ol days right there!! Thanks for the trip down memory lane 💜
Talk about nostalgic! It used to be a treat to be able to rent a movie of my choosing & the excitement of seeing a new movie 😱 lol! Thank u for this vid it brought back Seriously awesome memories 💖. Oh might as well bring this up too... When I was young & video stores were still around I used to work at The arch nemesis of blockbuster... Hollywood Video! 😂🤣😂🤣
I use to work at a Blockbuster. Redbox and Netflix was slowly killing it when I worked there. We would have people come up all the time to ask if anyone dropped a movie off, you are right. Also we would mess with people in the drop box sometimes when we were bored by shooting the movies back out the slot after they dropped them in. Of course we would go get them if they didn't stick them back in. But it was funny to see the reactions. Most people just came in after that and dropped it off on the inside. Those were the days! Proud to say I worked at a Blockbuster! I have many memories working there.
Thank you Omar! This is amazing and nostalgic. I love that you found this and shared it with us! I had a Blockbuster card and used it well. I remember the kids being so excited to go and get to choose their own movie to rent. Thank you for this. ♥️
Thanks for taking me down memory lane. I loved going to Blockbuster. It was an awesome place. I miss even the mom and pops videos. When we lived in Dallas we would go to Blockbuster to rent movies and chill and watch movies all weekend and order pizza from Dominos.
So much nostalgia in this video! haha Reminds me of the first few years of being married to my husband! Our 3 kiddos have never experienced a Block Buster. Thanks for sharing this!
When I was a kid visiting my grandma in Pennsylvania Allentown I would go to the blockbuster down the street, rest in peace grandma I miss you more then ever
