It looked like you were turning your ankle a bit before you started your up move in the picture above. That is a very weak position. You will get less of a push off that way. My 4th grade teacher had a saying for life, "Practice makes perfection; and perfection is no trifle." I have not paid close enough attention to that saying in my life.
