Not anywhere else but a lot of culture do encourage their kids to keep living with the family. But to be fair those cultures do that because they have a plan set in place. Either you're going to get married and you're living at home to save up for a house or you're staying at home until you graduate college with a good degree or you're staying at home to help with/ one day inherit the family business. They're usually not just staying home doing nothing. In America, if you are living with your family, it's most likely because you're not really doing anything. That's the difference.

I went from living with my mom to us living together. If your confused by that it means we both signed the lease and split the rent 50/50. I would have my own solo place but rent is mad high right now but evenually I will but for now I'm still enjoying the company of my mom and there's nothing wrong with that. aye not to contradict what you said Duke, but nah for me personally there comes a time for a person especially a man to leave the nest, I understand everyone's circumstances are different and I respect that, but know when it's time to leave is also good to know, for me I had a lot of setbacks financially and should've left a long time ago... I finally moved out at 29 oof, I had a lot of setbacks mostly involving women and not knowing how to manage my money properly, I'd advise everyone to 1st make a budget for food, bills, rent, etc. then find a job or at least people willing to help you out to get started, 2nd find a job that covers all those expenses and 3rd make sure you have a fall back plan or at least enough money saved for when things get bad, I recently had a car accident while I was in the process of moving (I was at $4,000) went down a bit afterwards, but I recovered most of my losses already, but after that it's been grind grind until I find another job or build a skill that'll get me that career I want, thanks to watching people like you Duke, Peer to Peer and Playback, I'm finally on the right path and learned video editing now I'm building up more skills in my arsenal til I have enough money saved to leave my current job and do what I want (RUclips) or anything els with my new talents again not saying your wrong Duke, but some people should plan some stuff out, just talked to my cousin who almost made a similarly hasty decision as well -I recommend anyone moving out Save $5,000 - $10,000 -with a job that pays $10hr - $15 or more depending on where you want to live and your area -rent is 2x -3x whatever your income is depending on where you live or rent out from ex: rent $500, you need to make ($1000 - $1,500 a month), I recommend more for food and other expenses

Yeah I don’t know if I can agree with that. The idea of pushing people out of their family’s home to go struggle isn’t something I would co-sign. Many cultures are different I understand but I believe in family unity. I stayed at home nearly as long as you did but took advantage of that time to get a good career, good credit, and my finances in order. I joined the trades and didn’t get paid very well during my apprenticeship but was able to save most of my money. Went on to become a journeyman making over 100k per year and only when I was ready to buy a house (down the street) I moved out. I would want nothing less for my children either. Society shouldn’t tell you when to leave your parents house, only you can make that decision. If your parent(s) want you there then stay there as long as you need. Now that my parents are older I kinda wish I still lived there because it would make taking care of them that much easier. I do not recommend anybody to struggle like that unless completely necessary. Everyone has different timing. You have to be patient and allow yourself to fully focus on becoming whatever it is you want. When you’re your only support system you will settle for much less, you will have much less time, and much more stress on your shoulders.

You have to be patient and allow yourself to fully focus on becoming whatever it is you want.
