Mousing roots in Michigan. Hmmmmm, they've been mousing for Brookies in Quebec and Labrador for at least the last 50 years. Probably started as an offshoot from mousing for giant pike. An old Canadien guide had me mousing for Adirondak brookies as far back as 1972. Amazing to see 18-28 inch browns on a mouse from waters that rarely produce a fish over 15 inches during daylight.
Pronunciation is often linked to what part of the country you're from. New York for example also has an Ausable River. Pronounced long a, versuses short a here in the midwest.
Well it's just like most people that are not from Oregon pronounce it wrong also, then you have the Willamette valley which is also pronounced wrong, so such is life.
Woah i live in boyne and work at boyne mountain (the place has the fly shop they went to in the beginning). Awesome to see you guys fish up here it is fish heaven
A mouse looks pretty heavy. Why not abandon the fly rod purist attitude and use a spinning rod to flip the bait out? Working a fly rod in the night has to be a sure fire formula for tangles in the trees, vegetation and timber.
Should learn how to pronounce the names of rivers so you don't sound ridiculous and automatically discredit your work. Especially a world renowned river like the Au Sable, makes one question your bonafide.
Please god, bring Hook Shots back.
Hook shots needs to get back together man this stuff is great

Or... you could abandon the spin fishing purist attitude, and just use a gill net, poison, and dynamite. See what I did there?
