Love the way they say each other's name when the first scene is about to fade...so golden hollywood diva like lol
Jane Wyman and Lana Turner--Two outstanding stars on a most memorable television program.
What happened to this kind of quality?
AMEN!!!
It was entertaining as hell to watch these two tough old birds going head to head. The thing about Falcon Crest that made it different from Dallas and Dynasty was that there was a rich embedded heritage about the characters. Dallas had the same pride but not as deep, Dynasty really care about that and struggled to keep it's backstory straight for the entire run of the series.
Jane and Lana's voices sound sorta alike. they were both great actresses. Lana was the most amazing ever made move and actress in MADAME X and IMITATION OF LIFE. Love this contribution!!!
Dayz of Drama lana was just so PERFECT in those two pictures
Totally, not that i care because they are both awesome women, but Lana was not that strong of an actress and it really showed on FC. Same with Kim Novak in her career and as Kit Marlowe/Skylar Kimball in FC.
I like how the two women can be so mean and nasty but yet in a sweet way. You don't really see that kind of acting anymore. These two were really good at what they do, I mean, they could read as ad out of a phone book and probably give it meaning.
Their scenes were awesome!!!
T James absolutely agree! :-)
@0:22 That building crescendo after Emma left was AWESOME!!
This was "reading" decades before the term was even invented!!!
Whom do you think the drag queens modeled themselves after? LOL
Jacob Morris Lol!!!!!!!! This is true!!!!!!! Sad that personal real-life conflicts prevented so many years’ worth of scenes like this....
HAHAHA thats EXACTLY what it was...especially the "grittin" after Emma walked away...EPIC!
@@jacobmorris3664 These Ladies were Old School of The Highest Order. They were Ladies who had to fight for everything in a Men's World, but showed they could hold their own. Jason was a Drunk because it was a "Coping Mechanism". You'd be pretty heartbroken knowing your Sister was the Power & Brains of a Multi Million Dollar Winery and you're just thought of as a "Hired Hand".
@@laminage everyone has to fight for everything they have not just women and it has nothing to do with it being “ a man’s world” !
The highest rated episode of Falcon Crest ever. Season 2, Episode 12.
neworleansguy10 If everyones egos wouldn't have played roles here, and Turner stayed on the show, who knows what they could have accomplished.......
lol Emma brought such a lovely Twig for her Uncle Jason's grave
Lana Turner was perfect as Jacqueline Perrault
The way the women eyed each other before speaking was epic! That was some black girl "grittin" right there! Epic i say!
Jacqueline Perrault was the only real adversary that was a true threat to Angela Channing.
Add to the fact Jacqueline had cartel connections and could have killed Angela if she wanted to but instead chose to take Richard away and give him over to a Nazi. x.x
@@TopKirby8305 I tuned out once they made Angie Richards bio mama as it was 2 over the top for me....Angie was a savvy, quick old bag that cld add 2+2 quicker than most....No mother on earth 4gets the date they lost a child (Muchless a newborn)....Once Angie learned of her x-husbands bastard son, she became hell bent on determining who the mother was....It wld stand to reason she would start with Richard's DOB. That DOB wld have started the wheels turning n it would have very quickly occurred to Angie what are the odds that Richards DOB would coincide with the birth/death of her male child...That is absolutely not serendipitous n deserves digging a bit further.
Angela kicked the opposition's ass everytime!!!! Jaqueline had no chance against Angela!!!!!
Blame Lorimar for why its been such a long slow slog to get Knots landing and Falcon Crest on DVD.
Love to see Angela Channing in overdrive! Nice to see her face off with another strong woman and still seem to come out on top. Falcon Crest was one of my favorites ❤. Great cast, sets, and fantastic guest stars. Nothing currently on TV begins to compare. Glad to see new DYNASTY, BUT get confused on characters now and how they correspond to original.
It’s a 40s movie scene reborn in the 80s.
Right On Bro! Also when Angela talked about how the folks had to "fight" for what we have, it reminded me of the Pilot Episode of Emmerdale Farm that debuted in 1972 that is now known as Emmerdale. When Jack Sugden a Gary Ewing Type of Character played by Andrew Burt 1972-1976 was given the Family Farm his Mother Annie told him that they worked very hard for "theirs" He left in 1964 and they hardly heard or spoke to him and he also didn't write.
Please, please, put all 9 seasons of Falcon Crest out on DVD!!
They do not make television like this anymore when you feel the contempt with every frame!
Also, you can actually feel the tension between Angela and Jacqueline more so than between Crystal and Alexis and or Alexis and Sable. I think it's more than the fact that in real life Jane Wyman and Lana Turner couldn't stand each other, but I'm sure that added to the tension as well.
Lana Turner said herself that their “feud” was all for PR. She said it wasn’t true.
I am also amazed that Rich Man , Poor Man is also not available on DVD in this country .. Loved that mini series so much .
Wyman's wig is a trifle bothersome.
Jacqueline and Angela's voices sound similar plus they also look alike. They both have identical high cheek bones
I love how Jacqueline confronts Angela in the middle of the vineyard ❤.
We need a Falcon Crest reboot before anymore cast members pass away.
Lana delivered that last line perfectly! Jane did not think very highly of Lana as confirmed by Earl Hamner in an interview that can be found here on RUclips. I bet they weren’t delivering their lines to each other in those scenes except the ones where they are in the same shot together! Sorry Jane but Lana carried herself with such class and dignity while you always came off as a bit of a dour frump, but you deserved that Oscar you won!
troll.... 30 years later....
ANNN GE-LA!
Jacqueline was the only character that could upset Angela down to her core....
Ok so Jacqueline was married to Ang's brother Jason, and had Chase, but she played with Ang's husband Douglas...and supposedly had Richard....but in reality he was Ang's son all along. Douglas and Jacqueline hid the secret.
I had no idea Jane Wyman played a…. lets just say she walks like a gunslinger.
Jane Wyman is good at playing domineering women. In this show she is exactly like her character in "The Yearling" and "Pollyanna". Her daughter Emma is like a adult version of Pollyanna and Jody.
If memory serves, the aforementioned weeks occurred mainly towards the end of Season 3, which IMHO gave the show its finest run. I'm thinking that Season 4's cliffhanger ranked # 2 then as well. I've got my Nielsen soap book somewhere around here, if anyone is interested.
"My son needs me" - oh that's a good one. You would need Jacqueline like you would need poison ivy.
When her Daughter Cheryl went on Trial for murdering Johnny Stompanato, the Court Reporter who typed The Testimony was Record Producer Phil Spector. Then he ends up serving 17 of a 20 Year Prison Sentence for Murder. Also Barbara Stanwyck was considered for the Role of Angela Channing but she suggested Jane Wyman. Jane wins a Golden Globe Award while Barbara wins for playing Mary Carson in The Thorn Birds.
@ImperialAtlantis LOL. Exactly. The music was a nice addition too.
Was the Jason story ever resolved; did Chase and Maggie ever find out it was Emma who accidentally killed him, and that Angela blew up the car to make it look like a drunken accident? I don't recall them ever finding out?
Yes, when there was an inquest Emma admitted what happened. Chase forgave her and Angela "agreed" to share half of Falcon Crest with Chase although it was his from The Get Go. As Jason Gioberti's Son (And Heir) he automatically was entitled to it. Also it Took The Wonder Years a long time to get on DVD but thanks to Time-Life they were able to since they owned the licensing rights to many of the Songs that were played on the Show.
Is it true they disliked each other? Lana dismissed the claim on a TV interview that's on RUclips somewhere. There are a few things that lifted Falcon Crest above other soaps and one was the casting of actors from the golden age of Hollywood.
Because Lana had class, according to Earl Hamner Jane was not fond of Lana saying something like that’s no lady!
When did Jane Wyman turn into Barbara Stanwyck??!!!
She's playing a Barbara Stanwyck type character. They offered the role to Barbara first and she declined and recommended Wyman
@@Colpress do you know why Barbra turn the role of Angela down ? May 22,2020
@@Colpress yes, Mary Carson from The Thorn Birds! (1983)
It's clever that Angela calls her "Jack-wil-en' (without the French accent) - clearly intentional.
I believe that this episode actually peaked at #5 for the week, but it did give the show its highest Nielsen numbers of its entire run. Subsequent episodes would rank higher than that several times in the Nielsen weekly ratings, but there had already begun enough of erosion even back in '82 to ensure that the original Family Reunion Nielsen number was never topped again. As the Nielsen rankings went, well FC never had a week at the top, but it did have a couple, or 3, episodes ranked #2!
Angela?… Jacqueline?… your daughter Emma is fit?🤣🤣🤣
I heard that. I wonder what the Nielsens looked like for that week. I think it hit number 3.
mean...perhaps but correct in her assessment of Emma.
H LANA WOLULD HAVE ROCKED IT ON DYNASTY AS BLAKES SISTER
Did Angela beat Emma? Emma always seemed so FLUSTERED around ANGELA.
No she didn't
She had this "Sick" hold over Emma because of what happened with Jason Gioberti (Chase's Father & Jacqueline's Ex-Husband). Here's another eerie fact. When Lana's Daughter Cheryl Crane went on Trial after the Murder of Johnny Stompanato Phil Spector future Superstar Record Producer did the Transcript who is now doing life for murdering B Actress Lana Clarke who had a small part on All My Children.
Angela was just very controlling, but yet protective of her eccentric daughter. In later seasons, Emma became more standard and independent. I've got to be honest, I found "troubled" Emma much more interesting.
Jane got the Oscar Lana never did. I wonder why the Academy never got around to bestowing an Honorary statuette to the latter? 🏆
@JBinOtown
Actually WB Bought out Lorimar.
@GloveGirl Oh yeah. You just want to hide behind something while you keep watching.
Well... They are NO Crystal and Alexis... that's for sure. Haha
Is this from season two or three? Season two is available on the warner home archive website!
Mark Alexander season one
Why does she mouth off to Angela? She'd be better off saying she came to see Chase, and otherwise keep her mouth shut. Or act like distant, estranged, not particularly interested family.
when will they put this show on DVD come on they put on so much crap on DVD , how about some good tv shows like this
Emma adult Pollyanna and Jody.
Did Chase ever find out how his father really died?
Yes he did. Emma confessed in episode 18 of season 1 and half of Falcon Crest went to Chase.
@@UltimateTVShows-channel Thank you - I just remember something about Chao Li buying (?) the damaged steering wheel of the truck from the junkyard to help cover up the crime.
jane is the best biddy!
Why does that old white lady have an afro? I'm just asking
Look at Michael O'Leary (Ex Dr. Rick Bauer) Guiding Light. When he went to The Prom, his hair was very curly this was in 1983.
