Absolutely, the department I was one of the trainers in switched the issued gun to the S&W M&P9. Some of us wanted to test other guns however, for a year we had to notate every round fired. Keep in mind this is the largest Sheriff’s Department in the US. We thought we could not maintain the weapons, they would malfunction, end of test. Not by far! 86,000 + rounds through each gun, some guns never cleaned, just lubed, NOT ONE Hiccup. Replaced a few worn barrels and changed recoil springs and back to testing. Needless to say 13,000 issued pistols, and I became a BIG fan.
