In Lucky One the evil Red Force kidnapped them and experimented on them, which is why their powers are acting up in KoKoBop. They're still detoxing from bad Red Force drugs.

The Red Force then used what they sampled from to create evil clones (some fans debate they’re dark alter egos) known as X-EXO who fight against EXO in Obsession.
