    I’ve been to the Tahaa Coral Garden. Not the snorkeling heaven its made out to be. Good but not great. It’s benefits are the shallow depth and the length of the coral beds. I lived in French Polynesia, and have visited or lived on dozens of its islands. The Rangiroa “”aquarium” is one of my favorites, although its is fairly deep water.

    Hi there. Great video.
    1) What is the price for one person for boat excursion going from Uturoa, Raiatea
    island to Tahaa Coral Gardens ?
    2) How many hours is this trip and is lunch included ?
    3) After you drift snorkel for 10 minutes, can you walk back and do it for two more time?
    4) What is the price for the sunset cruise from Uturoa, Raiatea and for how many
    hours ?

    Thank you so much! Actually these are the months I considered most :) However someone who goes there regularly end of February claims this month to be the best option - warm waters, plenty of fruit and only occassional showers - but I am a bit scared to choose this month.

    • @jeztravel
      @jeztravel  8 месяцев назад +1

      The water is always warm in French Polynesia, rainy season or not. However February is rainy season, it could rain hard during this month but she is right it will rain for a few hours and sunny again. We were there one time when it was rainy season, it could rain any time and when it rain hard, the excursions or tours you book might be canceled. To be safe since it is your first time, if it is, go visit during dry season.

      @@jeztravel Yes it gets cold here in the winter. It was still in the 50's today so quite pleasant for the end of November and no snow yet thank God. We have such wonderful summers and falls here. From May through into October is very nice. I'd love to have your Southern California, Mediterranean style, weather up here. Even better would be the climate in French Polynesia, but that is stretching the dream a little far I'm afraid. And yes hopefully someday I can experience that beautiful coral garden for myself. Until then I will watch wonderful videos like this one and dream of tropical paradise. 🥰

    bit better coral I see there in this video, but right at Sofitel on Moorea is as good if not better. For one, its outer reef is some 2-3 miles long, but I like the mix of shallow and deeper (for sharks and rays in the troughs). Even at that, most of the snorkel area there is 5-10' and more than manageable, and more importantly, not a drift snorkel - I could go anywhere I wanted and stay in one place no problem. I probably spent 10 hours in the water there and barely covered a 1/3 of the grounds.

    One of the best snorkeling spots in the Society Islands, yes. But not in all of French Polynesia. Do the drift snorkel in the south pass of Fakarava and you will see a FOREST of coral and fish you won't see in Taha'a. And yes, it's really hard not to step on the coral or brush up against it at this shallow coral garden in Taha'a. I always wear both long sleeves and long leggings when we snorkel there, in addition to reef shoes (NEVER fins). That coral is getting damaged by cruise passengers on a daily basis.
