The cabbage man is actually a super famous recurring minor npc from the animated show. He became a whole meme after the original show came out. Whats awesome is they got the dude who did the voice originally on the cartoon to come play him in live action, and he even looks the part. One of the coolest little Easter eggs in the whole show, in my opinion
Meet Azula: One of the scariest characters ever. You don't meet her until much later in the animated series, and I was wary about her casting at first since the actor looks sweet/kind/childlike. But when you think about it, she's younger than Zuko...she should look young. Reminds me of Arya Stark from GOT...only scary.
Its close enough imo (as you said, she should look young + not to mention we probably wont get the next season until 1-2 years later so everyone will look a little older) I think the actress did good in the role & now that the "buildup" of Azula in season 1 is over and we move to season 2 Azula, I think its going to be a pretty fun watch.
This isn’t like Azlua from the original tho they are taking a different approach and making her struggle for her dads validation and having doubts about herself. So he isn’t meeting the original Azlua just an character with her name.
@@tracim3080 Bro, its NOT supposed to be exactly like the Azula from the original... not yet. The whole point of having her character included this early in the series (we didn't originally see her until season 2 in cartoon) is so that they can add a bit more "backstory" and depth to the character by giving context to how she grew into that perfectionist/calculating manner that we know from her in Season 2. - Her perfectionist trait starts from her father's manipulative nature of putting her & zuko against eachother in a competitive manner, its part of her character. Once season 2 hits she's going to be as cool as we remember & I look forward to watching her & Zuko specifically when that time comes (my 2 favorite characters, & I think the actors for those 2 did great)
I guess you can see from the cartoon but Zuko is young and naïve to the ways of the world ( he is also a nepo baby so the respect he gets is inherited not earned, yet) . He doesn't understand yet that building a relationship with his soldiers will get him better results and more loyalty. His uncle acts humble and small but he was known as the Dragon of the West for a reason. After losing his son he realized there are more important things in the world than conquest, so when his brother stole his birthright as Fire Lord he didn't even care. He is now trying to help his nephew learn the lessons he he learned in a gentler way. The growth in their relationship is beautiful.
1:54 It’s really interesting to hear you say Azula might be different when a lot of people who’ve seen the show think she’s not intimidating enough. I don’t necessarily agree with the sentiment because I see what the live action is likely going for. But when you first meet her in the animated series, you’ll see.
While there are things that won’t mean as much to you since you haven’t seen all of the cartoon, you may still enjoy this show more without any of the comparisons. Then when you watch the old show you’ll have plenty of “oh THAT’S where they got that”. Pretty much any moment or character you enjoy in the live action show will be more fleshed out.

when talking about the commander Zuko has the right to say what he wants hes the Prince, but his solider being just that a footmen talking bad about a commander is a NO NO in the military.
So since you have not made it far enough into the animated series, what you see in this episode and going forward all the way to episode 8, they made alot of remixes and mashed different parts pieces plots into one episode including some things from the second book. So just don’t compare too much or think that what is being displayed here all happened the way the animated episodes happened
I don't always agree with the particular choices they made (and some of them were probably decent choices that were undermined by a few bad lines of dialog) but I was generally impressed by the way they managed to include most of the events of Book 1 in a single 8 episode season by combining aspects. Like putting 2 problems from different episodes into a different setting which leads into a different event and having the solution be from a different plot.
@@tofystedeththey smashed book one and half of book 2 into 8 episodes. I don’t get way they felt the need to do that. Book one had plenty of material they didn’t need to pull ideas from book 2.

I hated that line that Aang said about how he never listened to the monks. It’s supposed to be a comical line, but in reality, Aang is the youngest Airbender to master air bending and get his tattoos. Sure he’s the avatar, but he stood out as a prodigy, even among the past air bending avatars What do you mean he didn’t listen to the monks ..?
I think what they meant is that because aang is a prodigious airbender, he slacked off during lessons because he already knew everything hence why “he didn’t listen.” I think it’s also referencing his troublemaking-ness the cartoon also showed, like when he and gyatso flung cakes at the other monks.
@@mpgisbtsarmybaefighting2838 oh dang I must have missed that. When did he say that? I get the part about him being a prodigy and not having to listen though. I just thought it seemed out of character with how much the monks and Gyatso meant to him

Yeah she is as crazy as Bellatrix . I was worried to because she has a babydoll face but hopefully she proves herself just as scary.

I took that line as him just joking and being a kid 😂
He also had a lot of respect for the monks and their knowledge so him not listening and dismissing their teachings seems off.
