    How much per sqft your average home cost, this year? That would give the lay-person an idea for budgeting with the additional % for contingencies.

    As a finish carpenter/contractor I am watching where you are sitting? Why did your framers not leave room for the skirt board on the stairs? Do you hv any idea how much money you save when finishing those stairs out ? Say I charge $550 to cut out your skirt (one side) however, if your framers leave 7/8” or for solid wood skirts 1 1/4” takes a couple hours to cut install most your skirts?
    See it all the time?

    Do you ever work with clients that would like to buy things from builddirect or finishes from wayfair? Were planning on building a house and bought several things through them and are highly satisfied.

    Is the home you are in while recording this video on your site? I am looking for a open plan with high ceilings and a “wow” factor for curb appeal and entry appeal. This could be it, but I don’t see it on your website.

    Good morning sir, I believe you probably have some really valuable, applicable, and useful information to put out. Please slow down and don’t be so repetitive. I’d really like to hear what you have to say without having to rewind so many times.

    We are in the beginning of the process of building a custom home in Utah north of Salt Lake City. So much of what you have said are things we have been thinking of. We do have a great GC. One question we are working with an architect who is amazing and a GC but there is no on staff interior designer. I have priced some and they are hugely expensive. I don't need furniture and decor help but planning the bathrooms and finishes ect. One was 70K one was 50K and at most my budget is 25K. Do you think it is feasible to do this on your own? I have all kinds of Pinterest boards and have been researching so much. Some days I feel confident I can do it and other days I am like eeeeeeh. Maybe I need some help. Your opinion?

    A newly built house is only as good as the subcontractors quality of work...DON'T skimp with cheaper and less experienced contractors...Pay a little more for quality workmanship!

      or, make the contract extremely specified on what the requirements are and have it signed. That requires legwork on your part on exactly what is required so the communication is clear. Any monkey can swing a hammer, use a framing gun. At the very least, the subcontractor needs to be bonded.

      How do you know the quality of the subcontractors? I thought the builder contracts them.

    So does every new house build go for over a million dollars now?! Seems like all these builders online only construct mansions. I live in Ohio. A million $ gets you a 4 to 5000 sqft house.

    Do you do soil testing for rocks if the home plan has a basement?

    • @ColoradoCustomHomes
      @ColoradoCustomHomes  Год назад +3

      We always do a soils test prior to excavation to ensure the foundation and septic system (if required) are engineered properly for the soil conditions

      @@ColoradoCustomHomeshow much do soil tests usually run for?
      We would like to purchase our own land ro be able to safe some money once the house needs to be build.
