Glad you all are doing this project the family tree. Unfortunately, all the elders in my family are dead and took the information with them. Have been getting interested in genealogy which might help me learn about family. Excellent job family!! Ella you rock!
👏👏👏 well done Ella and Tim. Knowing that family connection adds so much depth and richness to your children's lives. I'm still discovering relatives on my father's side of the family going back four generations. Your children are fortunate to have that. Thanks for sharing.
Hello Grimwade.. love! love! that you are teaching the children about their Family Tree. I traced my family back to 1870’s and found very interesting things. I used a friend who did my searching after getting together with my great-great uncle who knew a lot about my moms side (his side). I found that I have family that lives in the UK 🇬🇧 , I knew my American Indian side but not the Black heritage or any other heritage. Keep this project going, surprise are around the corner. How exciting! Love you all ❤️
I am a teacher of all primary ages which is roughly the ages 6-12ish. I love this mixed aged large group activity that you created. its very inclusive, if I can add a suggestion..I always find it helpful when children have tangible parts of a project that helps them feel like a very important role. for example on index cards (idk if that term is used in the uk) or even on cardboard name tags and pre-write out all the names. Create the family tree on a larger roll of butcher paper or even a large display cardboard this will act as the template/board. The children them will tape or glue the name tags in their proper spaces. This could be very creative, it could include a photo of family members and space for other information of interest. Decorate a tree, let the children create a leaf of their ancestors and place it on a large drawing of a tree. Good job on all your homeschooling! Your children are so smart and your wonderful patience will lead them far.
Simply fantastic love this content just when you have already impressed me you add the making your own family tree. Love how they were anxious and excited to do this project. Ella you're an excellent teacher and mentor
This was a lovely exercise in recording your family tree. As always the children were very involved witch is what is really nice when you are doing something like this. It can be difficult to trace black families because most of our births were no recorded in public records especially in America with the slave trade by the British but if you were a free black or slave under the Spanish there usually records. I was able to trace my family line back to the 1600 over my adulthood but the trail goes cold at that point. Be encouraged keep searching the past so you can be grateful for your future and where God has brought you to 🤗 Love ❤️ you all, parents you are doing a terrific job 😘💐
Love the way you and Tim the y'all interact with your kid's. How to teah them to pray and teaching them about there heritage. Great job Ella and Tim ❤❤❤❤❤❤ Heze is a lefty like me.
I JUST finished making a family tree on Ancestry. So nice to see you doing this with the kids when they’re little. Be sure to keep the family stories. They’re the flesh on the bones and too often lost. Enjoy!
This is such a great activity for the family. The children asks great questions too. This is such a blessing to be able to accomplish knowing one's ancestors. Being adopted it poses a bit of a challenge. Love you guys!
You are lovely family. I admire you BOTH as parents. Im a teacher and I can tell you that you are doing a greaaaatt job, better than the average parent..we all see it in the behaviour of all your children.
Ella I loved the stories you were telling your children about when you were visited by grand and great grandparents, these stories are priceless. The next generation needs to know them so that they can tell their families in the future.
What a fantastic family tree!! ❤️❤️❤️ You can see the kids are so engaged and interested to know their Grandparents and Great Grandparents. Heze and Hosanna were great to remember a lot of their grandparents names! ❤️I was very lucky to have my family tree traced and I actually have ancestors who come from Jamaica, yessss Grimwade family, and further back to a Grandma who lived in Africa, but was taken to be a slave. 😪 You will have so much fun tracing your family tree back further. ❤️❤️❤️
I used Family Search.org during COVID to search my white family. I was able to find a marriage license of my great great grandfather from 1845 and confirm with the Barbados Archives via email that he was not born there or buried there (as we suspected). I found my great great grandmother birth certificate from 1825 and my 2nd great grandfather. I found birth and marriage certificate from my grand aunts and grand uncles...I cant find zip about my enslaved African grand mother or grand father. I have to travel to St. Vincent with a hope of getting access to the Archives.
I JUST LOVE THE WAY YOULL DO THINGS WITH THE CHILDREN THEY WILL REMEMBER THAT TRUST ME MY KIDS ARE GROWN NOW AND THEY NEVER MENTIONED THE NAME BRAND CLOTHES OR SHOES I BOUGHT THEM ALL 4 OF MY CHILDREN ALWAYS MENTIONED HIW MUCH TIME WE SPENT TOGETHER AND HOW THEY LOVE HOW I WAS AT THERE GAMES IR PLAYS FRONT ROW CENTER WOTH MY DIGITAL CAMERA WHEN EVERYONE ELSE HAD CAMCORDERS BUT THEY WAS PROUD AND I WAS TOO.
Tim and Ella I am so proud of you teaching the children about the family tree In this day and age most young people do not even want to know or curious enough to do it I have done a family tree for my children I even bout three separate books for family tree and filled in as much as I could They have to continue as their family grow 👍❤️👍
love that u all are teaching the children, about their ancestors. and once again, Rue is too cute in that hat, he's such a ham. and love the girls' shirts. 💖
Hi there Gtimwade family! Ella you do such a lovely job on the girls hair. I love the multi color head wrap you're wearing. Tim I'm digging that hair cut you're sporting also. Heze is just the little stylist from head to toe handsome and Rue is the handsome curly top cuttie. I so enjoy watching your family blogs. This is like watching a family reunion. This is really a fantastic family activity to do. Keep up the good parenting and love. Sharing is soooo carving. 💝 Thank you for sharing. God Bless the Grimwade Family!
When I did my family tree in school I learned how many kids they had and how old they were when they got married. I also learned how school was for them back then.
Hi Grimwade family hope you are having a good day your kids are so pretty and very well spoken if your kids went to a normal school they'll steal many hearts God bless you sending love all the way from South Africa ❤❤
Such special children very proud of both parent's heritage. Ella and Tim are doing a phenomenal job educating the Kidz about life in general. My favourite colour is now peachy blue. Harper is becoming such an intelligent beautifully spoken little lady. Houston a little genius! Totally besotted with the Grimwade Kidz.
I've been working on our family tree for a few years now. I'm still building. It's interesting and fun once you start looking at the census and how they did things back then.
Love this Grimwade family! I’ve always wanted to do my family tree but my grandparents were born and grew up in Jamaica and a lot of the family resides there. I have visited them a few times but do not know all too well so would LOVE to explore this some time in the future 🤞 xxx
i’ve been researching my family tree these past few years. the journey has been fun & even eye opening at times. because i’m african american, i eventually hit a roadblock in my family tree around the early 1800s (some of my ancestors were enslaved, so there aren’t any detailed records of them). i went ahead & got an ancestry DNA test done & some of the results were unexpected ! in the end, the DNA results gave me a deeper sense of belonging that i never experienced before which is pretty cool ❤️
Very interesting, and it’s good to see how well the kids are participating. Great job ELLA you’re are a wonderful mom.Tim you’re a wonderful DaD too.You both together are excellent parents. I send you guys love and blessings always. You always makes my day.
My family tree on my father’s side has been traced back to slavery here in the US. It helps when the women in the family live long lives and pass information down to the children. This is an excellent project for your family and a cool way for them to also learn more of their black history for black history month. You guys (Tim and Ella) do a wonderful job raising your children. Well done❤️👏🏾👏🏾❤️❤️❤️
Genealogy is my passion. I've traced my family back to 1700s, with the help of a couple of distant relatives in my dad's side. One of my relative served in the Revolutionary War. He lived until the age of 101. The oldest relative I knew was my father's paternal grandmother who died at the age of 101 in 1986.
Awesome activity. Great job Grimwade Family. My family recently researched our maternal/paternal lineage to a French settler, 1700's. It was interesting to discover that patrilineal ancestral line.
Doing the family tree always was very interesting to me. I really enjoy knowing where my family originated and there story also. Little Rou in the hat looked like Easy E (RIP) Have a good day Grimwade family. Sending lots of love.
Harper is such a sweet girl she said "excuse me mummy" you all are so sweet and adorable I pray God blesses me with such adorable children like you guys 😍😘❤️❤️❤️❤️
