Man, this unlocked a hidden memory! I knew I had a handful of ToyBiz Spider-Man toys growing up, and watching your ToyBiz views helped remind me just how many of these sets I actually had. I think this one was my favorite, Spider-Man with a red and black color was so cool to me as a kid. And the Hobgoblin figure was dope too, especially his glider.
Would like to thank you toy shiz we buried my mom last Thursday I watched your videos they got me though a tough time the spiderman toys brought up happy memories of my mom and dad taking me and my sister to toys r us thanks again
In an interview he did for Wizard, Alex Ross said he originally designed that look for Raimi's Spiderman movie because he didn't think they'd go for the classic look. Since all the other comic films at the time seemed to favor black costumes, he added the black elements so he could sneak in some of the classic look. But then Raimi didn't use it because it wasn't classic enough.
That Hobgoblin sculpt goes hard, truly spectacular work that still rivals a lot of modern figures we get and easily makes modern legends hobgoblin look unimpressive.
So that’s why the purple glider had those holes! Lol it drove me crazy! I loved this set as a kid. I vaguely remember a Green Goblin that had a mech suit thing that looked like ED-209 from Robocop that used this Hobgoblin body too
I remember seeing this at KB Toys in the local mall that was near my town. And I had a grandma that would spoil me rotten may she rest in peace and she bought it for me because at the time I had just played the original Spider-Man video game that was on the PlayStation 1 and Dreamcast and I was re-watching the Animated Series so yeah see you in the Hobgoblin with a glider and the Alex Ross suit I had to buy it as a kid
I got this set from a shopko and always thought it was such a cool Spider-Man. Much later on I found about about the designs relation to the movie. Loved it!
@@dorktalksthesequel9800 Well no, it was a concept for the Sam Raimi Spider-Man 2002 suit that Alex Ross designed but it was never used. But it did secretly make its way into the movie tie-in game along with the unused Alex Ross Green Goblin design!
I have these two. I remember I liked the set just because Spidey’s costume. Problem was, I could choose between this set or Spider-man classics super articulated one, you know the pre Marvel Legends... I went with these two because I thought the other one was too much articulated and that probably wouldn’t last long in the sense of store prsence... oh boy was I wrong, mistaken and nowadays, disappointed with myself :(
I got this set a few months ago, but I chose not to open it. Not because I didn’t want to ruin the value, but because Spider-Man’s face was all screwed up. Somehow they managed to print his eyes on upside down, and the web pattern was messy looking. I guess I’ll just have to find another, better painted set.

Yeah def! Also a 2 pack that had green goblin (using this hobgoblin body) with an unmasked Peter Parker
@@ToyShiz Never knew about the unmasked Parker!
@@Batwing20293 previews excl (if I remember correctly) yellow comic packaging. I don’t have one but it’s on the list
@@ToyShiz Ahhh ok. Did it have the light up eyes Spidey body?
@@Batwing20293 no just a reuse of a Flip n trap body with a unmasked Peter head
How tall are these figures?
Around 5in
@@ToyShiz thanks
