I'm studying the Dutch language through Duolingo and a private tutor. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences in Suriname. This video helped me better understand a little about a Dutch history lesson in Duolingo.
I love Suriname, it's really nice there you have parties and I can get to meet more family members every time and every time I have to go back to the Netherlands, I cry 😭😭
I had to rewatch a few times to see what you were talking about. Definitely not glass or plastic (I would have noticed that!) - what you're seeing looks like the reflection of light on the oil on the onion skin. Great part of shooting in 4K - can zoom waaay in!
2 things that you said in your video that wasnt accurate was 100usd a night hotel, were did you go because i never saw a hotel that expensive yet in suriname and for food, 10usd meal here i cant even finish it. The only meal you can buy at the price of 15 tot 45usd is steak and pastas at expensive restaurants
@@foXnoMad ow now i see why, you needed to move with a local person they would bring you to tradional food places were we go to eat. You went to the populair fast food places. Im at least happy you enjoyed my country.
Hello my Suriname Visa is out on the Visa I have all my three names there but when I tried to check on their website to make sure the Visa is legit I put my passport informations and my date of birth but the website shows only my two names what does that mean
Wow great vedio and great places visiting sir but i have a question i got suriname visa but some one told me that at airport that ask more questions immigration lawyer so that will return you si inform what the are asking and what type of documents i have to wit myself?
Too bad that you didn't get to go into the interior. I always think that the interior is the 'real' Suriname - since 75% (or more) of the country is tropical forest. You really haven't experienced Suriname until you've visited a blackwater creek and sat in a soela in the interior.
Why arent you talking about the hindustanen/indians (asia)? The president is hindustan. The biggest population is hindustan. Most food is hindustani. Youre a bad reporter
He is not bad! Let we appreciate the fact that he visited onze switi Sranan. Laat hem op zn minst eerst ons land eerst neerzetten op de kaart . Toke kontjie djhare hai dat hij niet over hindustani s praat. Tor probleem. Allereerst ben ik een Surinamer dan pas een hindustani
0:49 I think, it’s hot, because you came in the dry season. That’s why there also aren’t many mosquitoes. The big rainy season (May-mid August) is definitely not this hot, but it is humid. The “coldest” season in Suriname is the small rainy season (mid November-end of Januari), where temperatures can drop too 16 -17 degrees Celsius at night and early morning and the highest temperature during that season is around 27/28 degrees. The small dry season is also not as hot as this one. EDIT: So do carry the bug spray when come in the rainy season or if you stay in rural or jungle areas too. 6:12 sanitary in Suriname is a very important issue. Even before you can open a cafe, restaurant, bar etc…the government has many rules regarding sanitation and the checks the place needs to undergo. If you don’t do it the BOG (a Surinamese version of the cdc) will close your business and post pictures of how unsanitary it was on social media…and while they don’t mention the restaurants, Surinamese people will always figure out which restaurant it is and once you re-open, it’ll take some time to recover from it; some never recover from it and people never eat there anymore. So no place wants to undergo that level of shame, so they keep it very clean.
Thank you both for this! I am looking to moving to Suriname from the US and volunteering in Houttuin in an orphanage that specializes in children with disabilities. There is a dearth of information readily accessible, and, using a wheelchair myself, I need more--and more specific--than most, so I glom on to any I can find.
As a woman I walked alone around the city in Paramaribo. (My pob). Also in the more rural parts. Most people in Surinam are just curious and like to have a small talk. Of course there is crime. Don’t walk around with luxury items. Don’t show that you have money or wear expensive jewelry. But the same goes for Amsterdam, where I live. Over here people get robbed all the time. Edit: And that happens mostly in the wealthier areas 😉 because the thieves know where to go for the big bags.
Thanks for the feedback. There's some more city life in the other videos I've made about Suriname, here's one if you're interested to see more: ruclips.net/video/TOFfsect8Ow/видео.htmlsi=25o3DQ0KbNP7btba

With the appropriate visa, it was a smooth experience through passport control.
thank you for the video. how do you travel to/from PBM airport to the hotel in Paramaribo
The easiest way is to arrange for a pickup through your hotel. Convenient and usually reasonably priced.

Yes, most of the dogs are guarding dogs on the yards.
How was communicating and using English ?
Generally enough English spoken to get by fairly easily.
