I don't know how you're selecting trailers, but I think with this series of you reacting to trailers you're doing it might be good to have someone familiar with the game series to help you select and curate what trailers to watch. That way you don't have to sit through trailers for side games that tell you nothing and also don't miss out on popular/important trailers.

Witchers were initially divided into separate "Schools" each of which depend on different skill sets. Geralt is from the School of the Wolf, a relatively balanced school that is good at combat, signs and potions. The School of the Bear was heavy into heavy armor and very strong attacks and defence. School of the Cat was more into dexterity and speed. Other Schools included the Griffin, the Viper, and the Manticore. Manticore relied heavily on potions, the Viper on deception.

Lore wise division was more about ethics of trade, and organization of school.
School of the Wolf was relatively tight-knit organization, and possibly largest of schools during its height.
School of the Bear had loose structure and was few in numbers, with individual witchers freelancing around continent and rarely interacting
School of the Cat became infamous for their general disregard to human lives, and willingness to murder for money, which made them outcasts of witcher trade.
School of the Griffin followed original idea of witchers operating as a knightly order
School of the Viper is splinter faction of School of the Bear, created by Bears who believed in inevitable confrontation with Wild Hunt.

After going through the Trial of the Grasses, most Witchers develop cat eyes...it's one way to identify them. A lot of Witchers also experience unique physical changes. In Geralt's case, his hair turned white...and he's often referred to as "The White Wolf." And "hey, whitey, what made your hair turn that way?" Some people think he is aged...and in a way they are right. Tidbit...Geralt is almost 100 years old.

    • @wolfwilkopter2231
      @wolfwilkopter2231 7 месяцев назад +1

The Skin turning pale and Hair white, was after his *second* round of mutations, increasing his abilities even further, as he went thru the first and, for most witchers, only round with relative ease.
Also pretty much ALL witchers have cat eyes and all have their bodies altered, Geralt is a major exception, with his more than obvious changes, due to above mentioned reason.
As with Geralts Age its the same thing for all the Witchers, but he stands out because of his hair, Vesemir is about 200years old in the 3rd game, as their aging is heavily slowed down.
Lambert is about 60 and Eskel is as old as Geralt, as both are born in 1175 iirc, which makes em 97 at the start of Witcher 3.

27:38 It's not pronounced Jeralt. It's Geralt, with a G pronounced like in game.
36:20 This woman is a character that only appears in the final DLC of Witcher 3, Blood & Wine. However this was the launch trailer for the main game which means the devs had already planned ahead.
39:55 Nope, she's not. This woman is not a cursed human, she belongs to an entirely different species - she is a vampire. Vampires in the Witcher universe are not undead humans btw, they are a completely different species originating on another world. They came through a portal during the Conjunction of Spheres like most other monster species, however they retained their sanity and intelligence (which is not the case for all species, some went mad or where reduced to animalistic monstrosities acting only on the most basic instincts). The woman in the Witcher 1 trailer on the other hand is a Striga, a cursed human.
Not all monster species are creatures from other worlds though - some of the more classical creatures like dragons or griffins are natural parts of the Witcher world while the post-conjunction creatures are basically aliens.
You missed quite a few trailers for both Witcher 2 and Witcher 3 btw.
Here's a list of some trailers you missed:
    - Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings launch trailer
    - Witcher 2 Return of the Kingslayer (also the opening cinematic for Witcher 2)
    - Witcher 3 Killing Monsters
    - Witcher 3 The Sword of Destiny
    - Witcher 3 The Trail (opening cinematic for Witcher 3)
    - Witcher 10 year anniversary trailer (this one dropped out of the blue on the 10th anniversary of the Witcher 1 release and only really hits home when you played the games, Witcher 3 in particular. It was made as a love letter for the franchise and the fans).
The Witcher 1 trailer you watched - the fight with the striga - was also the opening cinematic for Witcher 1 btw.

      @@babyoli Geralt? A vampire? He's not, he's a Witcher.
Witchers where created by mages a long time ago to fight monsters after a cataclysmic event called the Conjunction of Spheres where creatures from different worlds came through portals. To combat these newcomers, most of which where monstrous, specialized monster where needed - the Witchers.
Witchers are trained from a young age and undergo the so-called Trial of Grasses, a horrible process that mutates their bodies to give them superhuman strength and reflexes, they heal quickly, are extremely resistant to poisons and diseases, have heightened senses (like being able to see in the dark)...however the trial of Grasses is very dangerous and only 3 out of 10 of the boys subjected to it survive.
There are no female Witchers btw - they tried to create female Witchers as well, but the death rate among the girls subjected to the Trial was always 100 % - not a single girl has ever survived the Trial of Grasses.
There are several vampires of interest. One of them - Regis - is a close friend of Geralt.
You should know though that vampires in the Witcher world are not the standard vampires from other franchises. Vampires in the Witcher world are not cursed or undead humans - they are an alien species from another world. They also don't need human blood to survive, they only drink it because they really like the taste. Vampires are in fact one of the species that entered the world through a magic portal from their own homeworld during the Conjunction of Spheres. There are actually several species within the vampires - Higher Vampires are the most powerfull, but there are also lesser and more feral vampires as well: Bruxae, Garkins, Fledders, Ekimmaras and more.
PS: The potion Geralt drank before entering the stable is called Black Blood - a potion designed to harm vampires: The Witcher's blood turns poisonous to vampires under the influence of Black Blood. Witchers use all sorts of alchemical potions to enhance their abilities. Most of these potions are extremely toxic or even deadly for normal humans, but Witchers can use them due to their near-immunity to toxines.
PPS: I HIGHLY recommend playing Witcher 3, it is one of the best games ever made.

The events in Blood & Wine are such that Geralt could have reason to revisit the character after the whole trilogy is finished...she's a complex character with habits that could lead to the monster slayer writing her up for an encounter. He didn't misstime the spell. The issue is that the princess was cursed from birth, and had lived her entire life as a predatory beast. Lifting the curse restored her body to that of a normal human of her age (I think she was somewhere in her mid-teens when Geralt got the curse lifted), but her MIND didn't have any context for living differently than she had. Her father actually had to hire folk to give her special care and instruction to teach her to talk, dress herself, and otherwise behave like a normal person. She's generally got it worked out by the time Geralt sees her again, but it took YEARS, and she's still a bit on the wild side.

Witchers essentially possess powers beyond normal humans. The first is simply extremely rigourous training in combat and building up the normal body strengths. The second is the "Trial of the Grasses" where young candidates are subjected to potions, hormones and chemicals that essentially change their body to make them capable of ingesting "potions" which can give them almost superhuman traits for a limited time, such as improved senses, stamina, pain resistence and such. But only about a quarter of the trainees survive this process... most either die or are driven mad. You see Geralt take two potions in the trailer...the first increases his senses and stamina and the second slows his functions ... to a human who had not undergone the Trial, these potions would be poisonous, and even Witchers cannot simply slug down everything...there are toxicity levels that different potions can damage them. There are potions for resistence to vampire bites, increase the ability to see in the dark, increase resistence to poisons and such...too many to list. Finally the Witchers have training in five distinct minor spells which are called "signs." They are very limited, Quen is like a short term force shield, Igni is a limited fire spell, Aard is a force blast, Axii is a mind control spell. These are very limited and nowhere near what a trained mage can cast. All in all, it makes a Witcher into a superhuman entity, extends their lifespan (although they can be killed by normal means) and renders them sterile. This last effect may have been deliberately inserted into the training and trials...humans don't want a whole separate branch of supermen who can reproduce.

I am gonna give a small rundown for the history in vague terms.
Conjunction of spheres is like a multiverse situation. Multiple planes coincided which allowed travel between them possible. So our world which had humans, elves, dwarves and other species got overrun by monsters.
Elves are one of the oldest species alongside gnomes. Some of the elves believe that we humans also came here from the other side during the conjunction of the spheres.
Before the conjunction it was believed that humans took over the world from elves with a bloody war by experimenting and creating Mages and sorceresses. They alongside the big human population overrun elves and took over their lands, hurting and denying other species too.
After the conjunction when monsters came into our world, even Mages and sorceresses were not able to hold them off. The experiments done for Mages and sorceresses were mostly to enhance their magical abilities which felt short so the humans decided to go a step further and do more experiments enhancing humans with not just magic but with physical brute strength and fighting abilities. These beings were called witchers. The process is very tedious and 1 of 5 makes it to be a witcher. They are still helping the world get rid of these monsters in current times.
Bcoz it has been a while, people started seeing the witchers as non humans too and started segregating, some even started considering them as monsters so now they are also frowned upon. The witchers decided to do the dirty work but for payment, for coins aka mercenaries. That's how they survive now...
We follow one of them called Geralt. It is soft g with the name and not how we generally say it. We use g of glass or grass for Geralt ❤️

Assassin of Kings revolves around two aspects of the world at the time. It takes place after a war between the humans and the non human races of Dwarves and Elves. The non human races lost and in this game are still waging guerilla warfare against the human realms. At the same time there is a general war going on between the Kingdoms of the North and the Nilfgaardian Empire of the South. The assassination of kings is taking place in the northern realms and is pretty much urged on by the larger Nilfgaardian Empire, but the assassins are in contact with the underground resistance represented by the Elf you see talking to the primary assassin..who is a Witcher of the Viper School in the service of the Empire, tasked with weakening the northern realms and setting them against one another.

Ok...first thing you have to know about these trailers...the three main Games are "The Witcher," "Witcher, Assassin of Kings" and "Witcher 3, The Wild Hunt." The game trailers you begin with are around a card game (Gwent) that is a game within a game that doesn't appear until the third Witcher game. The game within the game attracted some gamers and CDProjekt Red developed the mobile card games after the release of the full blown video games to provide product that catered only to those who liked the "card game." In the first video game "The Witcher" there was a dice game that wasn't that bad but all these mobile game were produced after the three main games (and the two DLC's that were brought out in the Witcher 3 game world.) The First game trailer that CDPRed released was the one where Geralt is in the abandoned castle fighting the Striga...an event that takes place in the first game.

In the Witcher world there are multiple political and social entities. The largest and arguably the most powerful is the Nilfgaardian Empire, located in the south. It is expansionist and very organized and, much like Rome, has multiple client states and conquered kingdoms. The Duchy of Toussaint is a client state of the Empire. The major kingdoms of the North are Aedirn, Kaedwen, Redania, Temeria and Kovir-Poviss. Each of these major kingdoms contain minor kingdoms which over time were conquered. At the beginning of Witcher 3, Aedirn and Temeria have been conquered by Nilfgaard, and Redania has annexed Kaedwen. A lot of this took place after the events of Witcher 2, Assassins of Kings. Kovir-Povis is in the far north and essentially out of reach of Nilfgaard and neutral. Offshore to the west are multiple islands which constitute Skellige...ocean going raiders ...think a blend of Scots and Viking types. Although they acknowledge a "High King," an elective monarch, most islands are autonomously ruled by local jarls...the post of High King is essentially a warlord. They all fight among themselves except when they get in the ships and raid all along the mainland realms... and then they fight over the spoils on the way back home. Quite an anarchy...drink a lot of booze. In fact, everyone in the game drinks a lot of booze.

Witchers are mutants, artificialy created by rouge mages to fight monsters. That is meaning behind first trailer. Witchers are made to be very agile, immiune to poisons, see in the dark, and be expandable with fighting with monsters. Vilals he drinks, are potions, which bosost him, and are poisonus to regural humans. Most witchers can use simple magic spels, that are called Signs, but they are nowhere near level of a trained mage. And witchers roam land taking jobs in killing monsters. So Geralt is kind of mercenary, he just dosen't take jobs, that require killing humans.
Queen Meve from Thornbraker trailer was rescued by Geralt during Graet War, when he and his companionsby accident get involved in battle in which queen was fighting. It's a part of books, and is not focus of main Witcher games.
Trailer to Witcher 1 one is also recap of story from the book. The Great War, Time of sword and Axe, etc. are focus of witcher saga. Main games are happening after this war.
Stories in games are quite political, with monsters in a background. Its not like they are main antagonist. They are either threat for everyone, or one side tring to use them against other.
I could propably write quite an essey on witcher. :)

While Witchers are technically not mercenaries, they are monster hunters for hire. And you certainly don't want to try one of his potions. They are fatal to any human who has not undergone the Witcher mutations. And Witchers are created when they are children, they are put through a very dangerous mutation that very few survive. And they receive heightened senses, speed, agility, and magic. They also are able to consume a vast array of potions used for a variety of situations involving different monsters.

@@babyoli Well there are several Schools of Witchers. There's the School of the Wolf which is the one Geralt is part of, hence the wolf head medallion. There's also Cat, Griffin, Bear, Viper, Manticore, and Crane. The children are trained in sword skills, and potions, and learn the difference between monsters and how to fight them. But ultimately in the end it's the child who must choose for themselves if they wish to partake in what's called The Trial of the Grasses. It's an extremely dangerous procedure that few survive. It breaks down the body and allows them to be mutated and rebuilt stronger than a typical human.

Witchers ARE mercenaries of a sort...they are not usually assassins although Witchers of the Viper and Cat Schools sometimes take such jobs. He is not a mercenary soldier per se, but having one beside you in a fight is definitely an asset. Simply put, Witchers are supercharged humans, trained and raised from about the age of nine (and many of them are orphans) to kill monsters that normal humans would have no chance of defeating. At the same time they are seen as freaks by ordinary humans. Witchers gotta eat, maintain weapons and armor and brew up potions and special oils for their blades...they need gold and as the song mentions as the sun comes up in the barn..."paid in coin of gold." Most humans look at them and think "you can save us but you only do it for profit" and they disdain these men for their apparent "greed..." although they don't get paid that much for taking on literal monsters.

Not the selection of trailers I'd have suggested, but it gave you a taste. You should also check out a couple other trailers, sword and destiny, and killing monsters. Geralt has two live interest, one is Triss Marigold, but the other was not in the trailers you watched. The lady he fought in the barn was a strigga, they are low level vampires. The first bald guy was another witcher, but the second was something entirely different. The story and lore are deep and broad in this world, so you really should play witcher 3 if you have any affinity for story based rog style games. And even if you just want a great story, you can play it on easy mode fairly easily. And the potion he was drinking is one of many that have special effects, the one he drank in the first trailer was different than the one in the last, which actually made his blood poisonous, which is how he defeated the strigga.

You didn't really nail it, but you got a couple of very pertinent points considering you had absolutely no framework beforehand. The orphans thing, for example. Witchers are basically children given up (not always willingly) by their parents to be trained and mutated into monster killers, with a horrific conversion rate - most of them die in the process. When Geralt says he isn't a killer for hire he means that he works for pay, but he is not an executioner. He only kills monsters, and then only if they aren't sentient or if they are clearly guilty of harming people. Monsters aren't always people (most aren't), but they were first created during the conjunction. Geralt's potions enhance his capabilities or give him outright powers, like Black Blood which made his blood acidic and harmful to vampires or Cat which makes him see clearly in the dark. Time shifting, though, is not something a potion can help with. :) Good work, though, even if you should definitely look up some of the trailers you missed.

"The Witcher" game (number 1) came out in 2007. At the time it was a lot of fun for me, but it was kinda clunky. It's a great storyline but gamewise it shows its age. Assassins of Kings came out in 2011 and was an improvement, but it's very political and somewhat linear. Witcher 3, The Wild Hunt came out in 2015 and was (and is) a vast and much more open world game than the prior two entries. With the two DLC's that followed quickly you have a huge environment to wander, a lot more choices of how you want to play the game and the game mechanics are much more well developed. And you finally get to meet Yennifer, who, in the books at least, is Geralt's true love. There are a lot of ladies in the game and Geralt does not scorn their attentions. Triss and Yennifer are both members of the Lodge of Sorceresses and very much alike in skill...and very much different in attitude. Personally I prefer Shani, a human medic Geralt meets in Game 1 and remeets in the Hearts of Stone DLC. She is not a sorceress or a magician, but very warm and caring. I would go straight to Witcher 3...it's smoother, the action is more defined and rational and you have a lot more freedom of action in what you want to do and when.

Aside from the fact they are stronger and have more stamina, they are disease free...Witchers don't get sick. And they are sterile. So a person looking for a physical relationship would find a satisfying lover in a witcher...virile, disease free and no chance of little surprises appearing nine months after the visit. Plus Witchers move around...the inconvienient lover disappears fairly soon. Of course, this also goes far to explain why ordinary human males have more reason to dislike the Witchers wandering amongst their womenfolk.

There is some question as to whether the physical Witcher World is actually the dimension of the Elven races or the humans...there are a lot of Elven cities and realms and immediately after the Conjunction, the fast reproducing Humans essentially take over the Elven lands, pushing them to the margins of the world. The monsters definitely come from a separate reality. Late in the games there are indications there is a separate Higher Elven dimension and at least one "gate" back to the Monster realm.

interesting... thanks for explaining that. I feel like that one was an open end for me. Question... was there a war between elves/dwarves and humans because sounds like they were overtaking some of their cities

    • @donwild50
      @donwild50 Год назад

@@babyoli The lore suggests the Elves at least were present on the world when the Conjunction took place 1500 years before the events in the novels. Elven lore indicated the first humans, the Dauk and Wozgor tribes, appeared about 200 years later at The First Landing...only four ships that arrived at the Pontar Delta and the mouth of the Yaruga. The Nordlings appeared afterwards and the first two human tribes appeared to have been extinct by that time. The Elven Lore indicates the human world had been destroyed by human magic, which would imply the humans were invading and conquering an Elven world. Of course human scholars reject this as lies spread by the "lesser races" (i.e., Dwarves and Elves.) Personally I think the Elven texts are more probable as the world is littered with Elven ruins...but little evidence of human ruins. Most of the human cities are built upon such Elven ruins which would support the belief.

I think u gotta do part 2 of the missing ones too. The thing is trailers for mediaeval fantasy thing be it show/game/movie, they all slap hard..!! So, u gotta take in all the bite size condensed version of the games atleast till u play them in the form of trailers..!!
The witcher universe is sooo harsh and so against you that just a small win feels like a milestone. Witcher 1 is so old people just tends to ignore it and start on from 2 with culminating with the 3rd and arguably the best (said by everyone who has played the game) one yet. I am 60 hours in witcher 1 and I am barely at chapter 2. There is so much love and attention given to the story, to the gameplay, to the characters I really got immersed in the world and decided to do every mission possible and well it takes a longg longgg time to do so without u even realising it. I wish I had like 6 months break from my life just to sit in my room and finish these 3 games with the dlcs ❤❤❤
PS - I still think u shud do the videos in their release order. Chronological order makes sense if u are getting the full scope of the story. Even then i argue to go with release orders bcoz u understand the way stuff was understood by fans who have been there from the start. If the chronology of the games are different then the die hard fans from the start played the games in that particular order. U shud have a chance to do the same as well and judge the product in the same standard. These are also just the trailers so u are not getting the full story. It's a way to entice u to play the game. So, my pov is u shud watch them in their release order ❤️

My advice is just read the books. They are epic fantasy. Number two only to Tolkien in my - subjective - opinion. Very different to Tolkien but epic in their own way.
The witchers have superhuman abilities. But those abilities are enhanced by potions - in the vials - that are toxic to non-mutated humans. Thats why his face changes when he drinks the potions. Witchers also have ‘small’ spells available to them - things like flame, force projection etc. its the force projection he uses in that trailer. Witchers take children and put them though the ‘trial of grasses; - poisons - that few survive. The process mutates them and that gives them their abilities. They have different ‘schools’ - the wolf, the bear, the scorpion, which have different specialities and different fighting styles. But all have the steel sword for humans and the silver sword for monsters. As paid monster killers they are often asked to kill people for money - which they dont do.
The monster in the witcher 1 trailer is a striga - a monster created from a curse on a fetus of a dead pregnant woman. In that case the striga is a princess and Geralt’s commission is to cure the curse, not kill the striga, which is why he doesnt use a blade on it. The curse is lifted by keeping the striga out of its coffin at sunrise, which is why geralt has the sand clock, and why he seems to be toying with the striga - he’s trying to chew up time until sunrise.
The red-haired woman in the witcher 2 trailer is Triss Merigold - a sorceress - but not the princess (who is Foltest’s daughter). Geralt’s no 1 love interest is the black-haired sorceress, Yennefer of Vengerberg. The red haired ‘woman’ in the witcher 3 trailer is a succubus - a type of vampire - not Triss or the princess (the princess disappears from the story after her rescue, although it is noted she retains a taste for blood as a result of starting life as a striga). In that fight he drank the potion to poison his blood to prevent her from ‘dematerialising’ after she bit him.
Geralt doesnt die easily - hes about 90 years old in these stories (but his hair is white because of the trial of the grasses - as someone with an extreme resistance to those poisons he went further than most in the trial. As a result he’s actually one of the stronger Witchers. Thats also where he gets his nickname - the white wolf). He also heals much faster than non-mutated humans. Thats why hes covered in scars from fights with monsters.
One of the themes of the witcher is where is the line between human and monster?

I almost sure there is a problem with this "chronological". First trailer was from game that i think came after game based on MINIGAME from witcher 3. And second trailer is from era before smartphones.
About conflicts. Its not about humans against monsters. Monsters just are. And sometimes they kill. Conflicts are mainly between people. Sometimes humans fight humans. Sometimes humans fight non humans. Sometimes elfs fight unicorns. Its never "good against evil". It just... there is a world. And there are inteligent races. And they have own agenda... so they sometimes dont agree with something. And start to killing each other. Witchers try to stand on side and do not involve into politics but its not always a posibility.
Also nobody want to be a witcher. 8 from 10 kids dies during mutations. In agony. Sometimes its quick sometimes suffers months.
Third read hair lady was a vampire. Completly not related to everything before.
Heart and stone are about different guy than this bald guy from witcher 2.
Ahaha... not you dont get it at all. Whole blood and whine dlc is about vampires. Yes, there are problems with people. Even important plot twist. But everything is about literal bloodsuckers.

The World of the Witcher is set ina fictional 14th Century Central/Eastern Europe, not too disimilar to Hungary, Czech republic, etc
At first the world was...Normal, as normal as a 14th century style place could be, there was some supernatural phenomenons, but they where exceedingly rare.
Until one day a cataclysmic event occured, the Conjunction of Spheres, where the world of Humans and the World of Myths and Magic collided and merged togheter.
Bringing in Creatures only though to exist in legends and myths, Magic and also Elves, Dwarves and the likes.
To the Humans it was like the end of the world, they where over run by creatures against wich their usual tactics where inefficient or simply useless.
So a caste of Killers where created, the Witchers, through alchemical and magical means, young boys where turned into Mutants, Killing machines only brought up for one purpose, Killing Monsters and be darn good at it.
Witchers enjoys a High metabolisme, tat allows them to be faster, stronger, more endurant, heal faster from wounds thta would kill someone, and see in the dark.
This enhanced metabolism also allows them to use and drink Potions, elixirs and other alchemical concontions, that are so potent, that they are toxic and lethal to normal humans, the Potions they can craft can boost their natural abilities or even give them temparory new abilities.
They are EXTREMELY trained killers, amongst the best Warriors in the world, trained in a myriads of tactics and weapons usage, due to the variety of their targets, they also collected a VAST knowledge about monsters over the decades.
They also learned to harness Magic in some degree, even tho they are nowhere near as powerfull or versatile as a true spellcaster, they use Glyphs/Runes, that allows them to safely and efficiently use the Raw magical power of chaos for a number of effects.
Despite all that, the Witchers in the games, are the last ones, decades and decades of constant fighting, Ethnic purges and "cleasnings" and simply the fact that Witchers also are considered inhuman monsters by the wider populace feared as much as Monsters, contributed to their decline in numbers.
Din't help that the process to become a Witcher, is so excrutiantingly painfull, that only 3 kids out of 10 survives the process, wich gave them a nasty reputation.
Witchers where divided in the various kingdoms as "Schools", Geralt is part of the School of the Wolf, and their Fortress , Kear Morhen was besieged by a riot of peasants a few years ago, where they torched the place, destroying the equipements and alchemical components needed to create new Witchers.
Wich means that No new Witcher can ever be made, since the means and knowledge was mostly lost.
Geralt's generation was the last Batch of Witchers, and given their proffesion, its a dying One.
Oh forgot to mention that Witchers are also sterile due to the Mutations they endure in the creation process.

Hopefully this will be usefull. my explaination of all the things.
Regarding the games the three main games are open world RPG. the first one is janky and old so i would suggest skipping (esspecially since its going to be remade with modern technology and more experieced writing in a few years). Either start with Witcher 2 or 3. 3 is obvoiusly most polished.
The 🧪potions dont interfere with the weather
The potions are performence enhancement, making witchers increasing their power, speed or turn their blood poisonous to vampires. They are mostly leathal to humans. Wichers undergo special mutations as boys (only one in te survive) using magic and special rituals wich make them stronger have super reflexes and allowing them to see in the dark (hence cat eyes).
All the red haired ladies are different characters.
The first one is a princess of ⚜Temeria cursed into a monster called Striga due to court intrigue. To break the curse he must spend a night with her. He fights her off in order to get to her lair where he sleeps thus spending a night with her and turning her back. The reason she slashed him is becouse sometimes the transformation isnt complete and some monster instincts remain.
Second one is Triss, a sorceress/mage and an 👔advisor to Foltest the king of Temeria. She is Geralts partner and an important character in all three games.
Third one is a vampire (bruxa type), Geralt has a 💵contract to kill her and so he does.
Witchers are monsters slayers for hire. They are supposed to protect humanity from monsters hence he says he is not an executioner when he is asked to kill a human. Of course life is complicated and even thou witchers arent supposed to kill humans he sometimes will depending on the situation. Also some monster are sapient and Geralt generally only kills monsters that are basically magical beast or ones that can think BUT have committed murder. Some monsters ca even be friendly and sometimes humans are the real monsters.
Regarding the world, its complicated there are many sides and those sides have many factions, just like in real life there are may nations, guilds, influencial people and group all fighting and scheaming for influence.
Lets take Temeria⚜ for one. It is ruled by 👑King Foltest and on paper everyone is his subject. He is the 👑king and thus he was chosen by the gods and can never be questioned. (on the side in the witcher there are many religions but none are ever cofirmed to be the right one or if there even is any god). However under the surface you have layered aliegeces, for one Triss his👔advisor is also a member of the loge of sorceresses who generally provide the northern kings with usefull magical support while also ensuring that loge stays in power for the good of mages and also the loge. The nobility on the surface are his loyal 🛡knights fighting to the death for their beloved kings, however there are those who want the king to have less power and nobility more, so at one point they kidnap his children as hostage to gain for privilages while presentng themselves as rebels against a cruel king. Then you have the order of the flaming rose🔥🌹🔥 who are religious zealots and want their religion to have more influence as well as chasing nnon humans out of cities and commit atrocities against them. Then you hava nonhumans (elves, dwarves and halflings) who are discrimanated by most humans and segregated, they are disliked esspecialy since during the last 🔆Nilfgaardian invasion (Nilfgaard is the largest empire on the continent) are large number of elves including an eleven terrorist organisation suppported NIlfgaard, and also since scoia'tael commit terrorist acts againt humans. Then there is the 🟦blue stripes an elite military organisation directly loyal to foltest and opposed to scoia'tael.
The world is complicated as is our own
