In the USA we believe that motor homes should look like boxes with sharp lines with interior that looks like it was decorated in the 1970's and of course the BIGGER THE BETTER and of course lousy mileage also is the norm. ------ ------ It almost makes sense to order one from Europe and have it shipped here.
I love it , it has everything I need in a compact motorhome except for one thing like most European vans and that's an oven. Why do they never include an oven. Its a must in my opinion. Perfect van for me as I can use the rear for bikes when on vacation and for work tools when working.
I saw the Hymer Compact 404 at the Dusseldorf Caravan Salon in August 2012 and did not like it very much. I thought the packed up bed looked clumsy and cluttered, although I suppose it would come in handy if going to Ikea. The idea of keeping bikes in there is OK if you are not going to use it for sleeping or if you intend to sleep outdoors or somewhere else. For the money, better get a proper motorhome.
I certainly don't want to put you off now that you have paid for it! I think the point of the bike is that you are going to use this vehicle on day trips and not for sleeping in. I have a Hymer van (from where I am now writing).
Love little homes like this. BUT why wouldn't you have the bath door open on the other hindge??? So basically when you get out of the shower, you open the door to everybody in the front. Why not have the door open the other way, so when you open it you BLOCK the view to the front, and at the same time giving the home a true "2 room" floor plan. This way you could literally get out of the shower naked, and get dressed in the totally private bedroom.
Airstream makes something similar to this if you are in the market for this type of design. Airstream --> touring coaches - Interstate model on their webpage. I personally think the Airstream is lovelier than these particular models.
the fuel thing isn't relevant as us motorhomes get between 8-16 mpg euro ones consistently get 22-30 mpg.euro ones are different because of regulations that don't apply in usa.us roads are massive hence the bigger vans.if you wanted armchairs build a house truck.you cant get everything its always a compromise.usa have bigger markets so lower overheads.i prefer euro because I travel Europe and size is a factor in many towns and cities
Very nice. Nimble and comfortable.

Is there a engine up grade, maybe to an 170 hp with a 4x4 option?
Quite classy. In general, European RV designs are so much better looking and efficient than American. I wish we had these here.
I would prefer a bed that rises to the ceiling, powered or hand cranked.

A high polish gold paint would certainly look better.

The hymer color combo was created by a drunk crackhead
