Worth watching.. Keep promoting our rich culture. It would be better and more authentic to witness if we wear our own original attire (Makury)which our forefathers inherited with their cool-blood and handed down to today's modern generation. I hope and pray that western Makury would soon promote our makury original culture, tradition and customs as we the Eastern makury are doing.
It is a well known fact that the Makury Naga is a major tribe in Myanmar. The tribe has a distinct rich history, culture, tradition, language etc. and we the other Naga tribes respect and honour the mighty Makury tribe as you are. However, in India, the status of the Makury Naga tribe is in oblivion. This can be attributed to the fact that the unique tribe of Makury has chosen to be assimilated into something they are not-- sacrificing its own uniqueness. The Official Census of the Indian Government mentions Makury as a seperate tribe in India, having accorded Schedule Tribe status. A few years ago, some leaders have written to the Central Government of India urging for permanent deletion of Makury language and tribe from the Official Database/Census citing that Makury is not a tribe, but, it is just a dialect of a particular tribe. Unless Makury Nagas in India count themselves as Makury in the upcoming Census, all traces of the tribe will be lost-- prompting the Government of India to DELETE all details of Makury from its Official Record as requested by some leaders. Also, the introduction of vernacular langauge in schools will impose upon the students of Makury tribe to learn and speak the language of a foreign tribe under whom they are allied. The clock is ticking, it's NOW or NEVER. It is also upto the Eastern Makury Nagas whether to inculcate the tribal sentiment among the Western Makury Nagas and thereby salvage what is left of your almost diminishing tribe, or let fate have its chance over your people. The place of origin of the Makury Nagas and fellow brother tribes is well preserved for the upcoming generations to see and acknowledge the greatness of the tribes that emanated from there. Come see the place where our great forefathers once lived. Though we are many today, and each of us on our own, let us remember our roots and never forget who we are. God bless Makury Tribe of both India and Myanmar.
OMG! It's similar to TSONGLAKNYI of Tikhir Tribe. Even the language and songs are similar to that of Tikhir's. Won't be surprised if DNA test reveal common ancestry of both the tribes (Makury and Tikhir). Long Live Makury Tribe! May you celebrate your beautiful festival of TSEWLAKNYI with great pomp and gaiety every year! May you keep your culture alive!
