IF you take your time, WEAR GLOVES (there’s LOTS of sharp edges inside these machines), you CAN remove and reinstall the rear ones. This was easier for me as our laundry room is a Very small space. Just reach in with channel locks, crescent wrench or vise grips and SLOWLY twist the locking part until the locking tab breaks off. The sheet metal base and the drum mounting points are apparently stronger material than the shock mounts. They were SO shot they’d fall apart when just tilted a little. This video and one on replacing the suspension springs saved a service call and/or buying a new washer to replace the one we’re using and have used since 1990 (IIRC). Replacing it (after a refrigerator a few months ago) was the LAST thing we wanted to do before selling this house. $53 including tax from Amazon next day delivery, an hour to install everything. THANK-YOU.

I wish Sears made the front panel easier to remove to clean the pump motor filter basket. Which should be done every so often, some of the newer model have a access door but I still love my washer 20 plus years old.

my front shocks just went bad and the machine vibrated violently off its concrete base on the floor! it was on its side when i raced down to the basement.. i bought my machine in 2005 at Sears and i guess i could buy an replacement but somehow i still love my Kenmore Elite.. it seems like such a solid machine!

Thanks, this video was very helpful. There was a problem with no drainage due to a green scrubber caught in the filter. After fixing that, I found I needed to replace the right side shocks which were broken. The rear was a reach and I had to lever the tub over to get the bottom latched in. Although it was a struggle to get them out, the shocks went in with a twist by hand.

Clear instructions. Thank you! I would recommend replacing all four at the same time (I am not a professional).

So there’s a total of four shocks didn’t realize that at first. My washer is about 20 years old. I had a problem replacing it just one or two of them that are bad I wonder?

My clips on the bottom actually broke, and it’s been a beast to get them out. Any suggestions?

Awesome video, thanks a ton, much easier than I thought. So, the next question is how do I tell which shock is bad of the four?

Replace them all if your washer is older like mine. 15 years. The from left was moving in the slot on the frame and making a lot of noise. I replaced it and the noise was gone but the vibration was still there. It needed all four.

You mention on the video to turn the mount "COUNTER" clockwise, but you actually turn the mount clockwise to remmove.

That’s only half the job. There’s two more shocks in the back.
