It makes me think of the Nickel Creek song "Lighthouse" which is also incredibly tragic. What is it with lighthouses?! Kelly doesn’t get the respect and appreciation that she deserves given how phenomenally talented she is. I agree that this song, along with a few others off the album, should have been huge hits on pop radio. We, the fans, know how good this album is though. She got a Grammy nomination for it so the critics know as well. ❤
Truly! Some people are on the charts because of WHO they are right now! Kelly is so underrated! Adele would do a phenomenal job on this song, but the fact that Kelly is so overlooked and underrated is why this is not on the charts! Right now, if you are not Morgan Wallen, Taylor Swift, or Adele you won’t make any chart! They seem to be cemented there for the duration of life as we know it! Kelly wrote this from a place of pain and she should be the one singing it! It is hers.
This song for me reminds me of a relationship I had with someone who is no longer on this plain of existence, because we were each other's lighthouse. We would check in to make sure either one was "okay". When I found out that this person had passed I was not and I couldn't call and speak to them or hear their voice anymore. Sorry to rant, but just wanted to let someone know that it's ok not to be ok!
